My holiday clothes

MelanieFrontage · 27/08/2019 22:56

This is what I'm taking for a week away, am I mad, do I need to take more?

3 x bikinis
2x day sun dresses
3x evening dresses

That's it! One week in Zante, am I being frugal or barmy!

Obvs knickers, bras are on top of this but these are all the clothes that I'm taking.

Depends if you’re going with young dc. Mine always manage to ruin my outfit as well as their own Hmm

WorraLiberty · 27/08/2019 22:59

Cardigan?

Nothingcomesforfree · 27/08/2019 23:02

Depends what you are doing really. If you are literally by the pool and out in the evening its fine.
If you are planning on having a walk round somewhere/visit I would also pack a pair of shorts and a T shirt. Because my dresses end up soaked either from my wet bikini or from sweat and then enivtably I spill something down the other.
You can always buy more out there though ( any excuse).

No kids and hopefully no sightseeing, I did that earlier this year when we went to China! Lovely but bloody knackering!
Just a week on a beach.
Shorts and t shirt sounds good. I'll add one pair of shorts and one t shirt

NoHummus · 27/08/2019 23:08

Sunhat? Pyjamas?
How many pairs of shoes are you taking?
Good work though, I couldn't pack so light!

GreenTulips · 27/08/2019 23:10

Sun cover up and hat flip flops

I could pack the same

MelanieFrontage · 27/08/2019 23:13

One pair of flip flops and one pair of sandals, that's been a rule for years.
Sun hat, yes plus sun glasses.

Surely your clothes will all be a bit sweaty and grim after a couple of wears if it is hot?

MelanieFrontage · 27/08/2019 23:14

PJs, yup just the one pair.

MelanieFrontage · 27/08/2019 23:16

Well I'm intending to take washing liquid.

Witchofzog · 27/08/2019 23:19

I would pack a couple of cover ups. These will be the items that will go over a wet bikini when you go to get drinks etc, leaving the sun dresses for when you go to eat etc. I live in my cover ups when I go away - they are the only items I definitely get totally through by the end of the holiday

MelanieFrontage · 27/08/2019 23:19

But, washing liquid aside I'm not intending to wash my dresses that I may wear 3 times between washes. Surely that's normal?

I am intending to wash, bloody mumsnet!

peachypetite · 27/08/2019 23:23

I’d take a few more evening outfits

MyDcAreMarvel · 27/08/2019 23:23

It’s not normal in the heat no.

GreenTulips · 27/08/2019 23:23

Some people are weird

You wear a dress for breakfast - or pjs depending on setting

2 hours max
Get changed to bikini /cover up

Dressed if needed for lunch

Back in bikini for afternoon swim or longe

Wear cover up til evening dress require

No outfit is worn more than a couple of hours a day - not an issue

Witchofzog · 27/08/2019 23:26

@greentulips is right. And mentioned the all important cover up too Smile

windmill121 · 27/08/2019 23:27

I would prob take 2 x bikini and an extra dress for the evening or an extra sun dress

Mammyloveswine · 27/08/2019 23:34

Omg I wouldn't even pack that for a weekend? But I do overpack! I'd take a jumpsuit and maxi dress/shorts and T-shirt/fancier going out dress and a vest and maxi skirt

BarbaraofSeville · 28/08/2019 02:23

It doesn't sound like many clothes but when you think about it, it's enough, if you're happy to maybe wash a day dress and can eat without throwing food on you, it'll probably be fine. I normally take more but then only wear what you've listed. Grin

Maybe add some sort of slobbing around outfit to wear before you get dressed?

Then you wear the day dresses and bikinis, each fine for 2 days daytime wear, rinse the bottoms in the shower each evening. This is where you might be a dress short as they get a bit grotty due to sand, suncream, sweat, ice cream drips.

Shower each evening and then 2 evenings wear per evening outfit.

Depending on when you arrive and depart as you how many full days and evenings out you have, might be 6 or 7? You might also have a lazy evening on the balcony where you can wear the slobbing clothes not the going out clothes..

Travel home in the same clothes you travelled out in.

If you can get away without mountains of toiletries and gadgets, chargers etc, you could probably fit all that lot in the tiny cabin baggage that Ryanair allow you without paying for a wheelie case. That would be an interesting challenge. Careful selection to go in your plastic bag of 100 ml bottles and then buy your suncream in boots after security but remember that you can't bring it back.

BarbaraofSeville · 28/08/2019 02:25

Just thought that you need some sort of beach towel but we use hamman towels that take up little space.

Alicewond · 28/08/2019 02:27

I would prefer more evening outfits, and at least another pair of shoes

StarlightLady · 28/08/2019 04:28

You certainly don’t need PJs to sleep in this time of year. I would take a cardigan for the evenings and a hat (or buy one there). I’d also pack one top and travel in a top and a skirt.

Talking of tops, bikini tops/bras tend to be a security blanket with me, I usually end up not wearing one, but take one every day just in case.

ragged · 28/08/2019 05:46

4/5 of us managed on travel outfit + 2 spare daywear outfits. 1 swim suit each. So for me you're already wildly excessively overpacking.

HaileySherman · 28/08/2019 06:02

Honestly I always tend to over pack and end up wearing my faves/most comfy multiple times so i think you're fine. Especially if you can wash them
