Just because monkeys peel from the bottom end, doesn't mean it's right.
I mean, no disrespect to monkeys, but they haven't evolved as far as us!

MollyButton · 26/08/2019 11:23

Oh my Dualit toaster the dial is in minutes BTW - they don't pretend to tell you "brownness"

Wonderland18 · 26/08/2019 11:24

Danny devito is a qualified hairdresser
George bush was a cheerleader in high school
Alligators have permanent erections

Papergirl1968 · 26/08/2019 11:26

The Cleopatra one - no way?!

BlessedBeTheFruitCake · 26/08/2019 11:26

Moose can dive up to 6m.

Paddy1234 · 26/08/2019 11:28

Cranberry's are harvested by flooding the fields and the berries float on the surface as they have a little air pocket!

emwithme · 26/08/2019 11:38

*The “pineapples grow on the ground” and “center Parcs isn’t under a glass dome” crew will be along soon!

And “Gibraltar isn’t an island”!*

But (most of) Portsmouth is!

SgtFredColon · 26/08/2019 11:44

But Molly isn’t minutes = brownness? So the longer the toast is in there the browner it gets??

Loubuz · 26/08/2019 12:07

When you click your fingers the sound is from your middle finger hitting your hand not your finger and thumb

Standstilling · 26/08/2019 12:55

Loubuz No it isn’t

Zaphodsotherhead · 26/08/2019 12:58

The sweat band around the wrist is also so you can wipe your nose on it whilst running.

I guess calling it a 'snot band' never took off.

NaturalBlondeYeahRight · 26/08/2019 13:05

In most cars, if you unlock your car with the fob, then hold down the unlock button again all of the windows will roll down.
I have tested this out on my car and have never felt the need to again.

CanoeDoYouThinkYouAre · 26/08/2019 13:05

Em All of Portsmouth is an island. Anywhere off the island is not Portsmouth. Especially Cosham!

PuddleglumtheMarshWiggle · 26/08/2019 13:14

"Snot band"
Grin made me choke on my drink!
I'm never calling them anything else again!

peachgreen · 26/08/2019 13:19

@standstilling Yes it is!

TyneTeas · 26/08/2019 13:27

Microblading

I have only very recently discovered that this is actually something to do with eyebrows.

In as much as I had thought about it at all, if pressed would have guessed something to do with in-line skates or scooters (but had noticed there did seem to be a lot of threads than I would have expected about skating!)

MollyButton · 26/08/2019 13:32

But Molly isn’t minutes = brownness? So the longer the toast is in there the browner it gets??
Yes but with my Dualit (newer/other models may be different), it doesn't pretend to know how brown stuff will get. So you have to know: slice of normal bread 2 minutes to correct brown, crumpet a little less, sugary waffle - even less (I tend to use toaster bags), frozen bread maybe 3 minutes etc.
But the numbers do just refer to minutes - its a mechanical timer and can even be replaced.

completelyclueless1 · 26/08/2019 13:34

That the 'gas giant' planets like Jupiter are just gas all the way through. I thought it was a bit of swirly gas above a normal hard planet (technical terms)

Standstilling · 26/08/2019 13:42

@peachgreen Have we discovered that it is for some people and not for others? Like that tendon in your wrist that has evolved away for some people?

If I hold my finger and thumb away from my hand, the click sound is still there.

MumUndone · 26/08/2019 13:45

completely do we actually know they're gas all the way through?

peachgreen · 26/08/2019 13:52

@standstilling How can you hold your finger and thumb away from your hand? Isn't that just your finger and thumb rubbing together?!

Nextphonewontbesamsung · 26/08/2019 13:55

It really gets on my tits that they pretend that Jools Holland NYE show is live!

Zackly · 26/08/2019 13:55

In the Netherlands it's considered extremely rude and inappropriate to say that you are hungry

I’ve never heard that one before - but perhaps I’m just extremely rude and don’t know it!

It’s certainly true that children didn’t used to be able to complain of being hungry around their grandparents, otherwise you’d get a half-hour lecture about how ‘during the war we knew what real hunger was, we had to eat tulip bulbs’ (true fact but not really of interest to the grandchildren Grin)

cheesenpickles · 26/08/2019 13:56

@emwithme cosham isn't Portsmouth Grin
