another colour one.
we call things red that are actually orange.
red hair
red squirrels
etc.

That is because in Uk we used to not have a word for orange. We used red to describe things that were orange.

WeshMaGueule · 27/08/2019 22:28

My French husband puts the cursor between red and orange and green and blue in a different place than I do, so I call things orange / blue and he calls them red / green.

I’m stunned @augustusglupe thought Glasgow was in Ireland 🤔

ALittleBitAlexis · 27/08/2019 22:34

The common video game money cheat 'rosebud' (I know it from The Sims) is a Citizen Kane reference.

The river Severn has led to my belief that wales may be separated entirely by water, there are a lot of rivers that follow the border so I wondered if it was actually separate due to that.... I'm not entirely stupid but Iv always wondered - I didn't know that Portsmouth was an island until this thread

I did however know that Glasgow was in Scotland......!

Come on Eileen was a hit nearer to the end of WWII than to today shock

Nobody checked this yet? Utter rubbish. 1996 it was released, so 23 years ago (omg!). WWII finished in 1945, so 51 years ago.

SgtFredColon · 27/08/2019 22:49

Come on Eileen can’t be from 1996! Those dungarees!

I remember dancing to it in the 80s.

1982

WW2 ended 1945 - so 37 years before. 1982 was 37 years ago.

SgtFredColon · 27/08/2019 22:52

It was 1982 which was 37 years ago. And also 37 years since end of WW2

SgtFredColon · 27/08/2019 22:52

X post choma

ContinuityError · 27/08/2019 22:54

Cherrysoup Come On Eileen was released in June 1982 - so it was closer to the end of WW2 (just).

51 years between 1945 and 1996.

mystupidmistake · 27/08/2019 23:02

I really want to try the car thing but can’t be bothered having to go and start my car and put the windows up if it doesn’t work. Will try in the morning.

Cherrysoup · 27/08/2019 23:04

Oh bugger, what am I thinking? I wasn’t even drinking when I wrote that! Sorry, everybody, I apologise!

ContinuityError · 27/08/2019 23:04

Cherrysoup It wasn’t released in 1996 Hmm

ErrolTheDragon · 27/08/2019 23:04

51 years between 1945 and 1996.

Cling film boxes have little ears that you fold back to keep the roll in place. Nearly 50years old and I've only just realised that!!!!
