DP is really suffering after an afternoon drinking in the sun yesterday. How can I help him? What are your best hangover cures?

OP posts:
HysteryMystery · 25/08/2019 10:36

Pint of water to drink every hour.

MakeLemonade · 25/08/2019 10:39

Cold can of full fat coke and ready salted crisps.

blindedbytiredness · 25/08/2019 10:40

Plenty of water (small sips if he thinks he may be sick), a sugary drink like a bottle of coke and some fatty food. I never feel like eating when I'm hungover and tend to feel a bit crap straight after but it definitely helps overall

FredaFox · 25/08/2019 10:41

For me it's sleep in a cool room, sips of water and paracetamol, story food for dinner
Sleep/ lying down is my only cure personally

FredaFox · 25/08/2019 10:42

Oh yeah and cold full fat coke is a good shout ( I just never have any in)

TheHumanSatsuma · 25/08/2019 10:43

Lie down until it is possible to stand, then something substantial to eat.
A full English works a treat.

Catmar · 25/08/2019 10:44

Even water is making him feel sick right now. He's really dizzy. I've never seen him this bad and I feel a bit helplessSad

McDonalds or a fry-up and the cheapest shitey banana milkshake that your corner shop sells.

P1nkHeartLovesCake · 25/08/2019 10:45

Honestly he just needs to sleep it off

Cola is good but sleep is the only cure

RezCowgirl · 25/08/2019 10:47

Bacon sandwich with hot sauce and a cup of tea.

HelloGabriel · 25/08/2019 10:47

A shower always works wonders for me. No idea why.

HysteryMystery · 25/08/2019 10:50

One of those isotonic sports drinks or a rehydration sachet?

Could it be more than a hangover? Also effects of too much heat/sun?

HeyMonkey · 25/08/2019 10:51

I'm right there with him today.

I've had cheese on toast and icy cold coke.

Will be ordering a curry when the Indian opens this afternoon.

fairhairedfairy · 25/08/2019 10:51

Lucozade or non-diet Coke in small sips
See if he can suck on some boiled sweets or similar
Ice pops or ice cubes
Crackers with cheese
Solpadeine

TrendyNorthLondonTeen · 25/08/2019 10:51

"I've never seen him this bad and I feel a bit helpless"

It's self inflicted...

ThePlacesYouWillGo123 · 25/08/2019 10:52

Travel sickness tablets to stop the room spinning. Water and flat coke

Titsywoo · 25/08/2019 10:52

Yeah it might be the sun as well as the booze. Defintely lots of water but make sure to get something salty in him too.

teachermam · 25/08/2019 10:52

Cans of coke and paracetamol

mrspotatohed · 25/08/2019 10:53

Lucozade sport and a dioralyte.

Catmar · 25/08/2019 10:54

I think time is going to be the only cure! He is just so ill and upset I can't even bring myself to be angry with him for ruining my day(think I'm going soft, when I was younger I would have been furious Grin)

OP posts:
Letsnotargue · 25/08/2019 10:54

Big Mac, full sugar coke. An icepack on his forehead (alternated with the back of his neck) will make him feel a million times better

fairhairedfairy · 25/08/2019 10:56

It's really horrible being that hungover. Sounds like this is rare for him so it's lovely of you to cut him some slack and try to help!

Tbf nothing cures a bad hangover but time, you are correct. (And if I'm involved, a lot of vomit)

Catmar · 25/08/2019 11:03

He's throwing up again now. Going to be a long day. Can't be doing with people who trot out the "self-inflicted" stuffHmm

OP posts:
beingsunny · 25/08/2019 11:07

Hair of the dog 😬

HepzibahGreen · 25/08/2019 11:08

He could be quite ill with dehydration from boozing in the hot sun.

This is failsafe:

I sachet Dioralyte (puts back the salts -it's specifically for dehydration)
A banana (potassium)
Scrambled eggs and toast
A Virgin Mary
