Noooo, not just you.

I'm a redhead by nature, so can't expose any skin as I burn within seconds.
I carry a tube of Anthisan with me everywhere as I'm dinner on legs to the bitey things. And instead of keeping and looking cool I go hot with a red sweaty flush to my face. Nice.

Give me the cooler Autumn days, still with the blue skies but a kinder sun. Perfect!

sackrifice · 24/08/2019 10:01

The mozzies are horrendous this year.

I hate the heat. I like the warm days of the spring and the cooler days of the autumn. And I relish the winter.

The only thing is now I am a gardener and have to go out in the summer to tend the veg. I used to spend all summer avoiding the sun.

Last weekend I started cutting back a tree that we are removing this autumn and got bitten so many times I was back indoors in 15 mins. It's a bloody nightmare this year.

LuxuryWoman2018 · 24/08/2019 10:03

Not just you, love warmth but hate intense heat.

CigarsofthePharoahs · 24/08/2019 10:03

I stop functioning in the heat. I feel awful.
I also get polymorphic light eruption which is like prickly heat but worse. Starts off as a few itchy spots and then morphs into huge plaque like things similar to psoriasis.
I have to keep my arms in particular covered up when I go out. This means I end up even warmer.
Ugh.

Becca19962014 · 24/08/2019 10:06

There's a thread here full of people who don't like heat www.mumsnet.com/Talk/_chat/3645917-Yes-we-fucking-hate-summer-Pt-2

Personally i find hear worsens my seizures and puts my life at risk. I live somewhere only a tiny window can be opened - the others having broken and landlord won't fix. This summer has been, with few exceptions unbearable for me. Summer here has been a lot hotter almost every day compared to last year (yes I'm in the uk).

Today is going to be unbearably hot here again, was really hot yesterday as well.

IfOnlyOurEyesSawSouls · 24/08/2019 10:20

I am sooooooo miserable.

The mosquito bites caused cellulitis. Iv been on antibiotics 2 weeks.

I love gardening but am just so sick of being bitten.

Im just tired of summer now.

I need the autumn 🍂.

Come and live on a Scottish Island. Barely seen the sun since May. I never ever tan and haven't been burned this year even though I haven't worn sun protection at all Sad

Just heard the weather forecast for long weekend. Sounds like everyone is enjoyed sunshine this weekend. Except us - fog and rain predicted. AGAIN!

augustagain · 24/08/2019 10:25

I am starting to think about Christmas. Yes, in August! I've had the heating and my electric blanket on the past few nights. May as well go with it... Smile

augustagain · 24/08/2019 10:25

I can't handle ferocious heat myself, but it's not something I need worry about here. Hope those of you who are suffering get some relief soon!

SierraNevada · 24/08/2019 10:26

Yes you definitely need to come over to the thread becca linked and you can vent amongst kindred spirits.

I cannot cope with the heat at all. I think Becca and I share some heat related difficulties. I have dysautonomia which means I can’t control my body temperature very well. In this weather I’m literally dripping with sweat, my heart pounds and I feel sick and weak. Menopause has made it 100x worse so I’m not happy at all in this.

Thankfully my flat is freezing and comes into its own in this weather where it is just comfortable and pleasant. Thinking of renting it out to other heatophobics,

Spoonsmum · 24/08/2019 10:26

I can’t tell you how much I hate summer. I don’t do well in the heat at all, maybe slightly psychologically as well as physically. I just don’t like anything about summer. Sticky, sweaty, uncomfortable, tiring. I hate beaches and bbqs. Basically I’m a grinch (as my kids call me)
Can’t wait for autumn and winter, spring is nice I’m not a monster I do like a nice sunny warm ish day :) like where you have to think about taking off the jacket. Lol.

soontobemummyof3 · 24/08/2019 10:28

It makes me miserable too ! This is probably being amplified by the fact in 34 weeks pregnant with twins and I have a just turned 2 year old who is keeping me on my toes. I don't mind a bit of sun as long as there is a nice breeze and it's not ridiculous ! But muggy, boiling sun, nope not for me. I got a bit excited with the cooler weather we've had the past week or so, bake off being announced, in my head it was nearly Christmas and now the bloody sun is back Blush

Susiesoap7 · 24/08/2019 10:29

Hate it, give me cool nights and cool breeze

Dandelionplease · 24/08/2019 10:33

Me too

SierraNevada · 24/08/2019 10:34

soontobe you collect the prize for the person most entitled to be done with heat. 34 weeks pregnant with twins and in possession of a 2 year old . Dear lord you must be melting.

Dowser · 24/08/2019 10:35

In The hotel where I’m staying the receptionist said vicks vapour rub cured her Cuban mozzie bites when all else failed
From her description they were the size of tea plates and kept her confined to the hotel room for 4 days
After smearing it on an hour later she was pain free...first time in 4 days.

FlamingoFlamenco · 24/08/2019 12:57

@augustagain - Ill come and move your way, it sounds fabulously blissful!
@ soontobemummyof3 - you have my absolute sympathy and admiration in equal measure.

I've just spent the morning baking gluten free 'rustic' bread and a banana loaf. I had the fan going which helped massively. I'm now in my studio, blinds drawn, another fan going, whilst eating said rustic bread and a Mediterranean salad. bliss.

Becca19962014 · 24/08/2019 13:07

august sounds great to me!

IfOnlyOurEyesSawSouls · 24/08/2019 23:01

@dowser thats a fab tip i will try !

I currently have one the size of a grapefruit on my left hand, it is so swollen and painful.

I cant keep going through this every time i get a bite Sad

Livpool · 24/08/2019 23:13

I love the heat - plus we get about 30 days a year in this country.

Livpool · 24/08/2019 23:14

I very rarely get bitten though - I must not be very tasty!

EnidButton · 24/08/2019 23:24

I have a mosquito bite on my forehead because I had the audacity to step outside for 5 minutes. It weirdly doesn't itch but it's huge.

EnidButton · 24/08/2019 23:25

30 days too many Liv

EnidButton · 24/08/2019 23:27

also I've started buying Autumn clothes and pumpkin spice scented candles. My autumn Pinterest board has been resurrected and added to.
I was so over Summer and now look. How dare it.
