Waiting... waiting... waiting... GCSE results.

This week is going SO slowly. I’m finding it really tough. Dd is very wobbly and I’m (privately) feeling worried too, but trying to be positive and encouraging. She should be ok, but in my head I’m questioning every decision I’ve made, thinking of all the things I should have done. Argghhhh

Anyone else? Or am I the only one driving myself mad?

Waiting here too. Son looking forward to it. I can’t wait until it’s over.

Punxsutawney · 20/08/2019 22:00

Good luck to you and your dc's. My Ds took his gcses in 2016 and I remember feeling so nervous for him. Younger Ds is taking his next year, so we have to go through it all again. It will be ok, whatever the results.

peanutbutterkid · 20/08/2019 22:05

DS has one result to collect on Thursday. There's a small chance he got an A (computing) which would be great.

Bobbybobbins · 20/08/2019 22:07

I'm a secondary teacher and I'm so nervous too 🤞

MaureenSowerbutts · 20/08/2019 22:08

Waiting here too DD will not talk about it and changes the subject if it arises.

Flowersaremylove · 20/08/2019 22:10

Waiting here too, I think I’m more scared than my DD, but I know she’s worried too :(

Judashascomeintosomemoney · 20/08/2019 22:11

Chewing my fingers here, down to my knuckles already Grin. And when this year is over, DD2 GCSEs next year, then of course it will be two years running waiting for ALevel results. I’m going to be a nervous wreck! DD doesn’t seem as concerned as me, her and her sister are out at Ariana Grande tonight.

imip · 20/08/2019 22:24

I’m 48 and awaiting my GCSE results for Maths also. Annoyingly, I’m booked in for day surgery for a hystoscropy. Can’t change it, can’t go to college to get my results. So annoyed I booked this day, but it’s only done on Thursdays and I’m back at work in two weeks. Tutor can’t help me, and college not replying to calls.

Very frustrating and I put a fair bit of work into it!

Enko · 20/08/2019 23:32

Waiting for DD3's RE results. Next year we have the rest of them. She seems calm but I am a bit worried as well we have never managed a GCSE results day here without tears.

VioletsArePurple · 21/08/2019 18:24

Anxiously waiting here too. I have a question. Is anyone planning to accept more than one offer. We were advised to accept them all. And then choose which to keep. Can we really do this? If we accept one, will it cancel other options (which we actually prefer)?

myrtleWilson · 21/08/2019 18:27

Come join thread 6 for the 2019 GCSEs if you've not already done so (in secondary education)

TheLightSideOfTheMoon · 21/08/2019 18:27

Same.

DS not really wanting to discuss it. Can feel stress radiating from him.

He's had a tough year. Bullying, self-harm, depression. I'm just proud of him for getting through it.

WorraLiberty · 21/08/2019 18:30

Waiting here too

DS isn't even slightly nervous and at times, keeps forgetting it's tomorrow.

I hope he does well as his expected grades are very high.

ALemonyPea · 21/08/2019 18:33

There's an anxious air hanging around our house as well. DS should be ok, he's a good egg, but he's still anxious about certain subjects.

Good luck everyone.

Doyouthinktheysaurus · 21/08/2019 18:37

Waiting here too, with a DS who won't allow anyone to speak of it😫

He's predicted very high grades and he absolutely worked his socks off, I just hope he gets what he deserves. Inadvertently the school have put a lot of pressure on him and he will be devastated if he doesn't get his expected grades.

I dreamt he got really low grades a few nights ago😳

Pipandmum · 21/08/2019 18:45

My son was going to get envelope and come home to open then but his girlfriend has convinced him to open at school. He is not predicted to do well and did not do a lot of work and only needs English and Math for his apprenticeship, but he’s at a private school and I worry he will feel a bit humiliated, even though he knows it will be his own fault. Wish he’d just come home
to open it.

EveryFlightBeginsWithAFall · 21/08/2019 18:51

Both nervous here

MaureenSowerbutts · 21/08/2019 21:16

DD is going to get her results and come home to open them, school is only five minutes away.

She's worked so hard and revised her socks off, I just hope she gets what she needs for 6th form and gets at least a 4 in maths.

Dowser · 21/08/2019 21:31

It’s going to cost me. Tenner per GCSE

Grandson texted me today,.how many grade 8s do I need to get to get my tenners
I said none..a pass will do
Bless him

Will that be a £100
Time will tell

LewisFan · 21/08/2019 21:47

Oh thank God, I've found my people..... I've been clock watching since Monday

I'm so anxious. I've bought a card and need to wait til we know before I write it so I pitch it right!

Aaaaaargh

clary · 21/08/2019 21:54

I have double bubble this year (did not think it through in 2002!) so actually, after the ahem stressful day that was A level results and no uni place and oh no devastation and disaster, and endless clearing phone calls ... I am pretty zen about tomorrow.

Ds2 is the brightest of my three, but won't have done amazingly as he just didn't work enough. As long as he has grades for his a levels which includes a 7/8 in maths (to do maths a level I mean) then I think I will be ok. She says! 😀😀

TempleCloud · 21/08/2019 22:03

I honestly don't know what to expect tomorrow. DS is very bright but prone to only applying himself in the subjects he likes (computing and history). He will get an 8 or 9 in computing but he really needs an 8 or 9 in maths (he wants to eventually study computer science at uni and is a very good coder) and from his explanation of how the maths paper went, he won't be getting that.

We knew languages were not a runner, and his grade will be very low. No idea re the other subjects. I'm anticipating a few tears tomorrow and so I think is he. He has gone to bed early tonight. God I'd rather have taken the flipping exams myself!

IncyWincyGrownUp · 21/08/2019 22:09

One here too. Bad MH for the past 18 months, so as long as the basics come at 4 she doesn’t care too much.

Wolfiefan · 21/08/2019 22:42

@LewisFan I haven’t even bought a card. I couldn’t decide whether buying one was tempting fate or not buying one was not having faith in my DS.
Tonight I’m drinking wine. Confused

LewisFan · 21/08/2019 23:15

@Wolfiefan it was hard to find one that didn't focus on "doing well" or "passing" - it talks about being damn proud instead, which I am - whichever way the numbers fall, so I figured it would be ok!
