Halloween! Halloween! Halloween!

Anyone else really excited for Halloween?! Or All Hallow’s Eve, Samhain... What plans have you got for costumes, traditions or fall decor?

DS (5) and I love it! I think I love it more than Christmas, tbh, my partner couldn’t believe I had a mental countdown of the days until Oct 31st (72!)
I dislike most of the merch in supermarkets and am not a fan of ‘gory’ stuff, but love the dressing up, autumn leaves, candles, sweets and that tingly feeling in the air when you go out trick or treating. I also like the theory that dressing up meant the otherworldly folk wouldn’t realise you were a mortal (so wouldn’t kidnap you, or worse).

Halloween! Halloween! Halloween!

You do realise it’s August 20th today? We’ve got summer bank holiday, first day back at school school, and harvest assemblies before Halloween/Brexit day.

MegaClutterSlut · 20/08/2019 12:51

I love halloween and the more gory the stuff the better!

Tish008 · 20/08/2019 12:52

I'm with you, I have a counter too!

I like to stay away from commercial stuff and indulge in a lot of shadow work and remembrance of ancestors and those who have past.

Also lots of baking, pumpkin picking and nature walks

TK Maxx has already got it's halloween stuff in TK Maxx
They have some lovely glass pumpkins in our local store

I love Autumn Smile

blueblue As soon as midsummer’s day’s over and shops start displaying Back to School products I look forward to Halloween! I don’t celebrate harvest, and BHs have never been holidays for me.

Me! Me! Me! Me!
Dh has started compiling his annual Halloween playlist of which he takes very seriously he sighs at my suggestions and begrudgingly adds them. I have started looking for decorations. I want to go all out this year as last year I didn't know whether the neighborhood really 'did' Halloween so I didn't do much. Turns out they do so I want all the pumpkin fairy lights Grin
It will most likely just be trick or treating for us but I've never done it with ds. This is the first year he will be old enough. I can't wait for the costumes to start coming in!

StealthPolarBear · 20/08/2019 13:05

It's my 40th birthday and brexit day. I'm terrified

StealthPolarBear · 20/08/2019 13:05

In general though I agree op. I love Halloween

Osquito · 20/08/2019 13:06

Stealth Wow. That is a lot to take in on one day. Hope you do get to celebrate your birthday properly, though Cake

I love TK Maxx at the best of times but TK Maxx at Halloween is amazing. I buy some of my best ornaments from there (and yes, this guy is out all year, DH hates him)

Halloween! Halloween! Halloween!

It's just another day to me, I don't bother with it. Never have as it was not allowed when I was little so I have no sentimental association with it.

cwg1 · 20/08/2019 15:16

The most important question, of course, is have you got a raven? (Grin

bellinisurge · 20/08/2019 15:18

You do know that something else is supposed to be happening on 31 October 2019, don't you?

Dinosauratemydaffodils · 20/08/2019 15:36

I love Halloween. It's our wedding anniversary and we go overboard (although our wedding was very restrained).

Deadringer · 20/08/2019 15:46

I love Halloween but i don't give it a thought until October.

Cloudyyy · 20/08/2019 15:47

I’ve already bought the DC costumes 🤭 we always do pumpkin picking and carving, trick or treating and lots of baking! I would love ideas of crafty things to make to celebrate/ decorate the house with if anyone has any traditions? I’ve seen some lovely painted autumnal leaves pegged to a decorative string and hung up!

DeepDarkWoods · 20/08/2019 15:49

I love Halloween, we are on holiday this year so I will take a few decorations with me. Although not sure if we will get trick or treaters as will be a bit remote.

Thesearmsofmine · 20/08/2019 15:53

It’s my sons birthday. Apparently we will be eating croissants for breakfast and having a dancing competition Grin

BearRabbitPants · 20/08/2019 16:14

YES !!! So excited. Bloody love Halloween 👻 🎃!!!

SecretWitch · 20/08/2019 16:21

Love Halloween. Already bought my annual decoration off of EBay. My decorations come out first day of September.

We live in New England and the leaves have started changing. The light has taken on that mellow golden look.

Funghi · 20/08/2019 16:40

Percy is that a cat or a devil?

I’m excited for autumn, I love everything about it!

Moonflower12 · 20/08/2019 17:13

We're away in France- returning at 11.30pm on Halloween 🎃

My DD(6) is very upset as we go all out for it. I love it.
We will be in Disneyland Paris on the 30th so I'm sure that will more than make up for it!
