Anyone else really excited for Halloween?! Or All Hallow’s Eve, Samhain... What plans have you got for costumes, traditions or fall decor?

DS (5) and I love it! I think I love it more than Christmas, tbh, my partner couldn’t believe I had a mental countdown of the days until Oct 31st (72!)
I dislike most of the merch in supermarkets and am not a fan of ‘gory’ stuff, but love the dressing up, autumn leaves, candles, sweets and that tingly feeling in the air when you go out trick or treating. I also like the theory that dressing up meant the otherworldly folk wouldn’t realise you were a mortal (so wouldn’t kidnap you, or worse).

Halloween! Halloween! Halloween!

We've just moved to an estate who go massive for Halloween, i can't wait, my dc went trick or treating at our last house and only 2 folk answered the door, so looking forward to it for them.
I've already ordered polystyrene headstones to turn front garden into a grave yard!

I've found my people! I can't wait. Toddler DS will be so cute trick of treating. I love anything ghostly and ghoulish too.

@Glitterpearl, yes! Halloween is an out and out celebration in my neighbourhood. After 6pm, many streets are closed off to automobiles. We have a pot luck buffet on my street starting at 5. Several houses do haunted themes. It really feels like a huge party.

Definitely come spend October in New England. It truly is gorgeous.

Much of Scotland celebrates Hallowen in a big way too- especially rural villages.
Our village is jumping, the place is crawing with little wizards, witches and zombies- was like that too when I was growing up.
I would have an open houes fo children, neighbours and friends, with a spooky buffet, whole house decorated.

We usually have 40- 50 children come to the door on Halloween night.

I love Halloween... I'm a sfx artist so it's obviously my favourite holiday... And the one holiday where all the kids want my input lol... This year I'm due to give birth though so I'm thinking I might have to scale down my costuming incase someone else has to put it onto the children lol

I love Autumn in general and Halloween especially. I get an excited tingle this time of year when I feel the first autumnal breeze in the late afternoon.

I would love to go to the States one Halloween to see how to do it properly!

My 6 year old son has a countdown and decorated his room like crazy. His favourite film is the nightmare before Christmas and last year he collapsed in tears on the stairs after trick or treating because ‘it’s all over now!’

Osquito · 22/08/2019 11:23

Reborn Aw, DS was the same when he expected to put on costume next day as well!

I made DS’s last year (enormous paper Jack Skellington head-helmet thing that kept me up gluing & painting at night.... I said NEVER AGAIN but now we’re discussing it I’m getting twitchy!
