What insignificant thing is pissing you off today?

(And for balance, what has disproportionately cheered you up?)

Pissing me off: For me it is companies who don’t reply to their stupid web forms, then make you submit another, new, web form and get another, new, reference, just to chase up the first one.

Cheering me up: I am greatly enjoying relistening to A Walk In The Woods on my commute. Even at stupid early o’clock I am chuckling out loud.

My niece’s incessant humming which is only interrupted by periods of boasting.

She’s staying with me until she starts university.

I want to stab myself through my ears and puncture my own brain.

Last night I was murderous over it. A relative said “that tune sounds lovely, sing us the whole song.” I was ready to spontaneously combust. This morning she sat next to me whilst I was eating my breakfast and started humming a fucking gain.

WHO THE FUCK HUMS FROM
SUN UP UNTIL SUN DOWN EVERY SINGLE DAY?!?!?!

It’s not even doo-dee-dum-dee-dee type casual humming.

It’s effortful humming. With riffs and runs and bits of vocal fry. With the constipated look on the face of “Oh I’m feeling all the angst and pouring it into my oh so glorious humming that the entire fucking world needs to hear.”

It’s wank-humming. Masturbatory humming.

Don’t know if it’s abundantly clear yet but it’s kind of annoying me.

BigusBumus · 20/08/2019 15:00

Could you ask her nicely to perhaps stop humming as its starting to irritate you? 😂

NameChange84 · 20/08/2019 15:10

@BigusBumus

She thinks that I’m jealous of how amazing her humming is and the only reason I don’t like it is because I can’t handle the fact that she’s a better hummer than me. She has no concept that anyone could possibly find her annoying.

She would be looking for somewhere else to stay, if she was in my house.

I had to take something to the tip, we don't have a car, so I had to walk it down.

Fucking place is closed on a Tuesday

SomethingNastyInTheBallPool · 20/08/2019 15:32

The lovely dresses I got heavily discounted from Boden arrived today. I look like a manatee in them.

On the other hand, it’s perfect drying weather and I’ve got a pressure cooker full of bolognese, so that’s tomorrow’s supper sorted for when I get back late from work.

Nonstopbuttmachine · 20/08/2019 15:51

I left a can of Pepsi Max in the car overnight by mistake and it exploded Shock

CloudsCanLookLikeSheep · 20/08/2019 15:54

My boss has gone on holiday... abroad.. yet keeps answering emails she's been cc'd on randomly. And if I don't understand her answer there's no way to clarify it. And people need me to do stuff, today but I don't want to go against my boss's wishes. Annoying AF.

dementedma · 20/08/2019 15:56

Pissing me off - piles!

Cheering me up - making blackcurrant gin and a blackcurrant drizzle cake today

SpeedyShutter · 20/08/2019 16:01

Pissing me off: the fact that every time I walk from one room to another there is mess and clutter all over the surfaces even if I only tidied them 10 minutes earlier.

Also pissing me off: the bloke who lives down the street, who has a drive in front of his house big enough for 3 cars, parks his Royal Mail van right in front of our gate for no apparent reason. It means we have to park elsewhere and walk to our house (we don't have a drive). We're going to block him in tonight so he has to knock in the morning.

Cheering me up: there are 14 more days left of the summer holiday and then my dc are back at school and I don't have to tidy up 687,533,678,854,388 times a day.

PutOnYourDamnSocks · 20/08/2019 16:06

Pissing me of : that I have to ask the DC eleventy billion times todo things.

Cheering me up: how well they get on and how lovely spending the holidays with them has been (apart from the eleventy billion thing).

lilmishap · 20/08/2019 16:10

Ain't nobody tell me nothin they can't tell me nothin

That's the only line of 'Old Town road' my 4 yr old knows, and it's all I've heard all damn day

Drogosnextwife · 20/08/2019 16:18

Someone I have told already that I can't do a job for, still pestering to meet with me, and I keep saying I'm going to cut down on the crap I eat and lose weight and every day I can't control myself.

I discovered the apple fritter in Tim Hortons today, I don't think it's going to help with the cutting down on the crap.

samlh · 20/08/2019 16:24

Pissing me off: i know I am being very very unreasonable, but people in work keep looking at me with pity eyes (my grandad passed away a week last Friday and i've come back to work for the routine and to take my mind off everything). I don't want pity eyes, I just want to do my job without crying.

Cheered me up: finding an old recording of my and my grandad dancing to Status Quo whilst very drunk last Christmas and it making me happy cry into my leftover Chilli lunch.

SecretWitch · 20/08/2019 16:26

I am disappointed in my vagina today

Happy to be leaving on a road trip tomorrow

fleshmarketclose · 20/08/2019 16:44

The response deadline to my stage one complaint to the Local Authority is today. I won't receive a response because they never ever make a deadline and have ignored all my emails asking whether or not they will meet the timescales but it's pissing me off knowing they won't respond.
Cheering me up is my latest audiobook Peter James Looking Good Dead that I've been listening to walking the dog this week.

Crustytoenail · 20/08/2019 16:54

I got woken up a couple of hours ago by what sounded like someone battering my front door down (work nights - have a sign) it was an officer from the HA to berate me that my inconsiderate parking is causing my neighbours to complain. Said HA officer was rather eye rolley at me not being quite with it at first as you know, it's my equivalent of 3.30am, and then (the same as the batshit neighbours) is unable to grasp the fact I a) don't own a car and b) don't know who's car it is.
They left telling me that any further complaints against me will be taken very seriously. I am utterly baffled.

Crustytoenail · 20/08/2019 16:56

Oh and cheering me up is the thought of working with my favourite colleague tonight.

tigerbear · 20/08/2019 17:18

@SecretWitch - WTAF? The mind boggles 😂

BuzzShitbagBobbly · 20/08/2019 19:34

There are some excellently inconsequential snarks here, well done!

(And some lovely happy things too!)
