What insignificant thing is pissing you off today?

(And for balance, what has disproportionately cheered you up?)

Pissing me off: For me it is companies who don’t reply to their stupid web forms, then make you submit another, new, web form and get another, new, reference, just to chase up the first one.

Cheering me up: I am greatly enjoying relistening to A Walk In The Woods on my commute. Even at stupid early o’clock I am chuckling out loud.

Pissed off: I have the day off, no kids, no husband - not back until tomorrow and I've no idea what to do with myself
Happy: got a very cool ball for my dog. She's happy

imclaustrophobicdarren · 20/08/2019 13:23

That I need to pack 11 items and take to the post office. Things I've sold on eBay. I can't be arsed but need to do it before 3.

Alsonification · 20/08/2019 13:24

Pissed off; my dishwasher finally gave up the ghost today. It’s been on its last legs but had kept going til this morning. There was a fairly large load of dirty dishes in it so I’ve had to take them all out & wash them by hand Angry (proper first world problem that!).

Cheered me up; I have enough leftovers for dinner today so no cooking for me. Grin

imclaustrophobicdarren · 20/08/2019 13:24

I have however found a rouge Diet Coke in the bottom of the fridge.

Disfordarkchocolate · 20/08/2019 13:27

Ear infection, it hurts to move. I think I need to see a GP but I had an allergic reaction to my last antibiotics.

Cheering me up, my teen is in stealth mode so there is no noise hurting my ear. He occasionally sneaks up and kisses my cheek when he thinks I'm asleep.

EssentialHummus · 20/08/2019 13:30

Pissing me off: I need to go out and water the garden today, and I'd really rather it conveniently rained.

Pleased me: I met a newborn called Gary today (I think he was French?). He was very squishy and lovely.

NeverSayFreelance · 20/08/2019 13:30

They are redoing the floor outside my office so I can't sit on the comfy couches for lunch.

On the plus side, my apple is particularly juicy today 🍏

Evilmorty · 20/08/2019 13:31

I want to buy a lamp and I fucking hate every lamp that’s for sale.

Deathraystare · 20/08/2019 13:31

Nor majorly pissed off, but get annoyed when sitting on a bench waiting for bus to come and someone stands near the bench so I have to lean over to check the bus is coming. He made a right fuss about that (wasn't leaning over him) and said "Yes, yes the bus is coming." Not my bus you twonk. Bloody sit down!

I read in the paper that London's green spots (parks, squares et al ) really cheer people up- a bit like Christmas apparently. This is true for me. I was walking down by the river and through to a park further up and was grinning at the antics of some of the dogs being walked.

I was sat down on a bench (yes I seem to do this a lot!!!) and eating a sandwich, when a bouncy chap tried to nab a bite. His owner exclaimed he was a pig (so am I and I am not sharing!).

Another one was bounding all over the place, happy to have made a new friend and all the while ignoring his owner's command to come back!

Seeleyboo · 20/08/2019 13:33

Getting the chicken wings out to prep them for dinner to find both tubs were green and stunk to high heaven. Took them back and got a refund but pissed i used my time and petrol with nothing back.

willowmelangell · 20/08/2019 13:42

Grumpy that I was Hoovering up cat biscuits tucked up by the skirting boards and the Hoover was not rolling back and forth effortlessly.
Happy when I bashed the tilting plate under the Hoover with a hammer and it snapped back into its proper place.

ps I only got the hoover out because cable engineer is coming round tomorrow. Not usually so bothered...Grin

Pissing me off: our newish neighbours don't seem to understand how much sound carries in small terraced houses and have been crashing and banging around all day and thumping up and down their stairs. They're very nice though and are being perfectly reasonable in moving round their home!

Cheering me up: baby DD has had an epic morning nap so I've had a lovely peaceful morning, done a load of tidying and cleaning upstairs so our bedrooms look lovely and now I'm sitting on the sofa having cuddles with her.

Bedforaweek · 20/08/2019 13:47

@HumphreyCobblers hearing about your DS has cheered me up! Wonderful

EcocabbyRickShaw · 20/08/2019 13:51

Pissing me off: Trying to work out how to add my own name (rather than 'Microsoft Office User') into track changes on my new laptop. I'm a freelancer so no-one to ask and all the videos online didn't show screens that looked anything like mine.

Cheering me up: I stumbled across the solution myself while digging around in the nether reaches of Word. Hooray!!!!

permanentlyfrazzled1 · 20/08/2019 13:53

Stuck on a campsite on Bodmin, despite being all packed up to go, because the car and the trailer won’t speak to each other electronically. Waiting for RAC to arrive. Hoping won't need to be flatbedded home because we’ve got a hotel booked in South Wales to split our journey home in two, and lovely friend in Wales waiting to cook us an evening meal.
However, it’s the warmest and sunniest day we’ve had in the last fortnight, so I’m getting to laze around and play on mn. There’s always a silver lining! 🤪

I have an onion bhaji in the oven for my dinner.

One onion bhaji? Is it particularly large? Are you having it with salad?

Pissing me off: I dropped a practically new jar of coconut oil on the floor and the bottom smashed.

Making me happy: My diet seems to be working.

tigerbear · 20/08/2019 13:59

Pissing me off: all geared up for a booked personal training session today, and woke to a text from my PT to say he’s got to go away for a few days. So annoyed as I’d booked him for today, tmrw, and Thursday too as I have a rare window of opportunity to really focus on exercise in order to try to lose as much weight as possible for holiday in 3 weeks.
Also feeling sad as DD has just gone away with EXDH for 2 weeks :-(

ElizaDee · 20/08/2019 14:17

Just remembered the last thing I got really pissed off about. Fake/competitive undereating.

Work bought us lunch. I ordered a small. The other women's meals didn't look like they were small. Cue all the 'oh I can't possibly eat all that', 'omg I won't need dinner now, OR breakfast' bollox. On and on and on. All throughout the meal.

Then all the taking tiny morsels really really slowly. With full on placing the knife and fork down breaks in between.

THEN after leaving most of it, the 'oh, I'm so full, I can't possibly do any work now', 'I'm SOOO bloated' bullshit starts.

You can imagine the shit out of their mouths when (tiny) desserts were produced. They all still fucking had one though.

Hmm

I was fucking starving and just wanted to wolf mine down (I'm a fast eater) - but didn't. I did eat it all though. Like fuck am I leaving half of mine because others want to play silly buggers with theirs.

Blutopia · 20/08/2019 14:17

At the precise moment that I opened this thread, I was feeling irked that my SIL doesn't like me, and goes out of her way to be fiendishly subtle with her little digs. I'm annoyed because I don't know WHY she doesn't like me. But I don't like her either so fair's fair I suppose.

To cheer me up - we're away for 16 days in a camper can, and we're on day 10. I've almost had enough and DH just suggested heading home a day early, so that's a nice feeling.

FlatheadScrewdriver · 20/08/2019 14:18

Pissing me off: today is day 1 of "eat sensibly you're not on holiday any more" waaaaaaaa

Cheering me up: sun is shining, DD is entertaining herself writing a story, laundry's on, groceries ordered, food cupboards cleared out and tidied (ready to all go to pot when I'm back at work tomorrow) and an afternoon of aimless pottering about awaits.

Blutopia · 20/08/2019 14:35

Ha. *Van, not can.

Scorpiovenus · 20/08/2019 14:40

Wasps !!

Blutopia · 20/08/2019 14:42

Oh yeah Flathead that's ruined my happy going-home feeling - I've sworn to myself that I will start changing my eating habits as soon as I get home too. Waaah.

LikeSilver · 20/08/2019 14:48

Some twatty kid kicking the back of my seat at the cinema this morning. The kids screening I might add, so her mother was right next to her. What’s so hard about teaching your child basic manners?

But then the DC and I have picked 1kg of blackberries this afternoon and when they’ve finished in the park we’re going to make crumble Smile

whocanbebothered · 20/08/2019 14:54

Today hasn't been a great day:

Pissed me off: I bought a muffin to eat at my desk. Half way through I noticed it had mould on. checked wrapper and a week out of date. Barf!

My boss asked me to make coffee for a group of visitors. I'm the Finance manager. Coffee making is not part of my effing job description. What makes me more qualified to make the coffee than the other eight MALE colleagues sat closer to him, I wonder? Hmm I made it abundantly clear that I was not happy at that request btw.

So far, nothing has cheered me up but home time isn't too far of and that will definitely do the trick!
