So, in our house, there's a constant battle.

I hang trousers are n the line by their ankles.... DH by the waistband....

Now clearly only one if us is correct.... Bit who?

Waistband

Ribenaberriesgowoo82 · 17/08/2019 13:02

Waistband so less chance of pegmarks.

Haworthia · 17/08/2019 13:04

Ankles. Waistband is the thickest part and won’t dry if it’s folded over the line.

onyourway · 17/08/2019 13:04

Bottoms by their tops, Tops by their bottoms 😀

katmarie · 17/08/2019 13:04

Tops get hung by the bottom. Bottoms get hung by the top. So sez my mum anyway.

RezCowgirl · 17/08/2019 13:05

From the ankles so the weight of the waistband pulls it straight and no need for ironing.

LadyKylieShagworthy · 17/08/2019 13:05

I always hang tops from their bottoms and bottoms from their tops, so trousers from the waistband.

TheJoxter · 17/08/2019 13:06

From the ankles so the waistband dries quicker

MadisonAvenue · 17/08/2019 13:07

I hang them from the ankles, then the thick material of the waistband blows around and dries quicker.

PorterBella · 17/08/2019 13:08

Waistband, the water will run down the leg parts helping
thicker waistband to dry quicker.
Plus peg marks don't show.

Waist - but i hadn't thought of the weight meaning less need for ironing.

ExpletiveDelighted · 17/08/2019 13:11

Ankles, so the waist and pockets can blow about freely in the breeze. I don't think water running down is a real effect, if I go to check and find they are still damp it tends to be even, not damper at the bottom.

AwdBovril · 17/08/2019 13:12

Waistband. What everyone else said, plus it helps any pocket linings dry smooth (ish) & not rucked up. If they're upside down they dry slower & don't tend to sit flat even when they are dry.

Bottoms by their tops, Tops by their bottoms

I can remember years ago, having moved into my first house with dd, a neighbour commented that I hung out a lovely washing. Never really knew what she meant by the comment.

Are you my mum?

I always follow this rule.

ExpletiveDelighted · 17/08/2019 13:22

I've always thought that was a daft rule, tee shirts hung from the bottom get stretched sides and peg marks, they need to be folded over the line and pegged at the armpits, same for anything jersey or knitted.

KaySarahSarah · 17/08/2019 13:23

Peg waist, obviously!

BenWillbondsPants · 17/08/2019 13:24

Tops by the bottom, bottoms by the tops. It's the law you know.

Pinktulipsarethebest · 17/08/2019 13:28

Peg waist, but only the back part.

CaptainMyCaptain · 17/08/2019 13:32

Pegs at the waist. I always hang clothes the right way up though, if you hang tops by the bottom you get peg marks on the hemline and it gets stretched out.

fedup21 · 17/08/2019 13:34

Yep-certainly is!

BlueThursday · 17/08/2019 13:54

Bottoms by the top and tops by the bottom as decreed by Queen Anthea Turner

I do notice an improperly hung out washing (I lead a very sad life)

TheQueef · 17/08/2019 13:56

Tops from the bottom, bottoms from the top.
Also, if the floor is dry the washing will dry.
