So, in our house, there's a constant battle.

I hang trousers are n the line by their ankles.... DH by the waistband....

Now clearly only one if us is correct.... Bit who?

Waistband

Mexicoco · 17/08/2019 18:02

Bottoms from the top and tops from the bottom. There's no other way

homemadecommunistrussia · 17/08/2019 18:02

It depends on the trousers; jeans are best hung from the bottom because the waistband is so thick. Smart trousers would show peg marks, so I do them from the top.
The horrible polyester joggers ds wears can go any way as they never really get wet to start with. Hmm

jmh740 · 17/08/2019 18:03

I used to do the wear in on the bottom hang it from the top thing but now I just seem to hang everything from the bottom

MmmBlowholes · 17/08/2019 18:11

On a related note, what pegs do you all use if you're getting peg marks? I never get them.

BrokenWing · 17/08/2019 18:17

Ankles. Waistband is just wrong!

ginyogarepeat · 17/08/2019 18:43

Hang trousers by ankles as waistbands are often too thick to dry properly if folded over. Had to remind DH of this today!

megletthesecond · 17/08/2019 18:46

Ankles of course. Pulls the crumples out.

Teachermaths · 17/08/2019 18:49

My inlaws dry tops with them half over the line. Everything takes hours to dry!!

Tops from the bottom and bottoms from the top in this house.

Notwiththeseknees · 17/08/2019 18:54

Jeans nt the waistband, trousers from the ankles. Tops under the arms, shirts bottom inside seam.... love a tidy line Smile

CathyorClaire · 17/08/2019 18:57

Ankles and inside out so the pockets dry.

ErrolTheDragon · 17/08/2019 18:59

Put them on a trouser hanger (from the waist, not the fold over type) and secure the hanger to the washing line.

Shadowboy · 17/08/2019 19:05

Ankles- the weight of the waistband/pocket area helps to ‘stretch’ and straighten out creases. Plus pegs on waistband often stop that bit from drying as it’s thicker.

DrFoxtrot · 17/08/2019 19:17

Waistband.

I have a relative who hangs clothes one peg for each item and the part that's pegged is whatever bit she grabs first Shock

TDogsInHats · 18/08/2019 18:35

DrFoxtrot nooo😱

DrFoxtrot · 18/08/2019 20:55

I KNOW!!! ShockShock

SaintEyning · 18/08/2019 21:14

Ankles so the waistband flaps about and dries quicker and also so I can put children’s socks on the line between the legs, this maximising my v limited line space 😁

SeroxatBlonde · 18/08/2019 21:15

Waistband to avoid peg marks.

PeterthePainter · 18/08/2019 22:09

Peg the bottom of the legs. That way the tops are exposed to the air to dry quicker.

Femodene · 18/08/2019 22:13

Ankles, so they dry faster, I have never noticed peg marks on anyone’s clothing, can’t even imagine having that little going on in your head that that would be a thing. And what if there’s peg marks-oh god, that person has dried their washing outside!!!!- and what?

StrumpersPlunkett · 18/08/2019 22:15

Ankle here. I feel that the weight of the trouser helps to reduce ironing required.

SmiledWithTheRisingSun · 18/08/2019 22:20

Inside out & upside down - pegs on legs obvs!!!

Fillipe · 18/08/2019 22:30

We always pegged from the ankles until a neighbour (who we had argued with) reported to the landlord that we were making V signs with trousers on the line!!
That is absolutely true! When the landlord told us we just couldn't believe it!

I understood what he meant straight away but it was such a weird thing to say that DH didn't get it!! Took ages to sink in!!!Grin
W T F !!

Fillipe · 18/08/2019 23:27

Just realised I will now have to name change. Highly unlikely that anyone else ever in the UK (or anywhere) will have had that accusation made against them and have outed myself.

longwayoff · 19/08/2019 07:15

Waistband. Years ago, visiting husband's Scottish granny who lived in a block with a communal garden drying area, I pegged the washing out. She looked horrified when she saw it, tutted and muttered about neighbours, and rehung the lot. In size order, small to large, socks to shirts. Is this a common practice? I still hang washing as it comes rather than by size. Do my neighbours secretly despise me?
