Why are you awake?

I drank gin last night. Woke up at 03 30 with heartburn. Have taken Rennie's and had a drink of milk but can't get back to sleep. I've got a pain in the middle of my back which is keeping me awake. Given up trying and an now watching TV.
Why are you up?

Woke at 4am with a blocked nose. We go on holiday today, so got up to put some washing in the drier. Can’t now sleep, nose still blocked. Hope you can sleep soon, I shall doubtless fall asleep in the car.

31 weeks pregnant and kicked awake. Now contemplating getting out of bed to get a cold drink and trying to ignore how hungry I am.

BillywigSting · 17/08/2019 05:19

I've just got up for work. At 5am on a sodding Sunday and am seriously resenting it.

GoldPaperStars · 17/08/2019 05:21

21 weeks pregnant and heartburn, needing to pee and aching from having to sleep on my side all night have made me give up on going back to sleep. Argh!

AJPTaylor · 17/08/2019 05:21

Insomnia. Not had it for a year. But then my ridiculously stressful job got to me meaning 3 hrs sleep a night.
However, I walked out of said job on Tuesday! Slept last night but woke an hour ago tonight.

Ni58 · 17/08/2019 05:23

It’s not Sunday! Don’t get up if you don’t have to BillywigSting!

Username19 · 17/08/2019 05:24

BillywigSting · 17/08/2019 05:26

Ah you're right it's not! Still need to be up though, first call is at 7am. It was 5am Sunday last week, 5am Saturday this week. I don't have to be up until 6am tomorrow

I have absolutely not had enough sleep Sad

WonkyDonk87 · 17/08/2019 05:27

Feeding 6m DD. Who thinks it's playtime 🙄.
Keep going Username19! The early shift's alarms will be going off soon.

Reindeerssmellbetter · 17/08/2019 05:28

I’ve got unwanted guests coming to stay and I can’t bear it. I’ve never slept all night with anxiety because I have been suicidal recently and don’t think I can act happy and normal and the perfect hostess.

I don’t want to talk to anyone. I don’t want to wait hand and foot on them when I can barely look after myself let alone 3 (sometimes 5) other people.

They are extremely rude, inconsiderate and demanding with no respect for property. They just come in park themselves on my sofa and chairs, take over the tv and WiFi, go in and out of all my cupboards, fridge etc, get up early, go to bed late, don’t lift a finger to help. Never want to go out of the house for the day they just stay here on top of me the whole day and night. I can’t trust them so I can go out on my own because they go through all my private things and don’t respect that my bedroom and en-suite bathroom are private.

I have to put up with having them twice a year to avoid a huge family row. This is going to be the longest they’ve ever stayed (just under a week).

I’m dreading it. And I feel like a horrible uncharitable person.

Hoolajerry · 17/08/2019 05:35

Ooh exciting horehound. Fingers crossed for you.
I have made a cup of tea, a nest on the sofa and have put mamma Mia 2 on.

In Japan so 8 hours ahead. It's lunch time here. Currently on the Shinkansen heading from Tokyo to Kyoto. Too cloudy for views of Mount Fuji sadly though.

NotJustACigar · 17/08/2019 05:36

I always wake up early. There was an article in the guardian recently about this - I discovered in a "super lark" and only about 1 in 300 people are. Then in the comments section I found out other people find us really annoying! Confused

Hoolajerry · 17/08/2019 05:38

namechange84 that sounds awful. Is there not anyway you can put them off? Does the prevention of a family argument outweigh the significant impact this is having on your mental health?

I'm covering Dd job dog sitting.

One dog has barked continually since 4.
I love dogs but rapidly going off this particular one.

NameChange84 · 17/08/2019 05:39

@Hoolajerry No, no way at all, they don’t take no for an answer. They don’t care about my mental health and would probably accuse me of making it up.

hollieberrie · 17/08/2019 05:41
