Why are you awake?

I drank gin last night. Woke up at 03 30 with heartburn. Have taken Rennie's and had a drink of milk but can't get back to sleep. I've got a pain in the middle of my back which is keeping me awake. Given up trying and an now watching TV.
Why are you up?

I am awake because I'm a natural early bird. Usually up by five. Going to have a cuppa and read my book.

PatrickMerricksGoshawk · 17/08/2019 05:43

35 weeks pregnant. Woke up for a wee and can’t get back to sleep. Panicking about not having packed my hospital bag yet. And PILs are coming round later and the house is a disgrace.

clucky3 · 17/08/2019 05:45

@NotJustACigar I read that too. I think all those night owls below the line were being very defensive and reading quite a lot into the fact that some people get up earlier than them! It's not like we do it to piss others off!

Thanks wonkydonk. It's been a steady night so I can't really complain. Hope you all get early nights tonight Smile

AvengerDanvers95 · 17/08/2019 05:49

Toddler starting his day at 5.20. He will nap in the car later. Obviously I cannot.

growlingbear · 17/08/2019 05:51

I'm working away from home. Was awake partying until 2.30 last night as it was the final day of our project then got woken by a fire alarm at 5 am which meant we had to evacuate the building I was staying in, and couldn't be bothered to go back to bed, so packed to head home and am now on MN to kill time until breakfast.

bumblingalonghappily · 17/08/2019 05:53

I'm 26 weeks pregnant and keep on waking myself up when I notice I'm sleeping on my back again. Off to IKEA this morning to buy nursery furniture and need to get up and measure the space- only managed to fall asleep at midnight 🙁 Hopefully DH will drive and I can nap in the car.

QOD · 17/08/2019 06:01

Husband snoring like a fucking constipated hippo crossed with a wart hog
Dog also snoring tiny delicate little snorts

Darrenisatwat · 17/08/2019 06:05

Hi there early risers! Was up at 5am because I’m moving house today and my head was spinning thinking of all the last minute things to do.

The baby usually wakes at 5am so I’m used to waking up then. I’m having a nice relaxing bath before our busy day begins!

ToLiveInPeace · 17/08/2019 06:06

I began to wake early during a stressful house move eight years ago. Ever since then, I struggle to sleep more than six hours a night. Don't think I count as a superlark when I wake a 4.30am but I'm too knackered to move. I miss sleep...

ToLiveInPeace · 17/08/2019 06:08

@QOD - any chance your DH has sleep apnea? The snoring can be horrendous.

user159 · 17/08/2019 06:09

6 month old DD is awake, and very happy about it! Can't complain, she went to sleep at 7 last night. Good job I'm a morning person!

Tubbyinthehottub · 17/08/2019 06:10

I've got an insect bite on my ankle and it's itching.

OhDear2200 · 17/08/2019 06:11

Away for the weekend and I always sleep really badly when away from home. Been awake sine 4 Angry

What o really want is a cuppa but can’t make one as will wake up the kids.

I also don’t like where we are staying.

OhDear2200 · 17/08/2019 06:12

Thank goodness for MN!

Juanbablo · 17/08/2019 06:13

We are camping and it's been raining and so windy all night and our air bed has deflated during the night. I've been awake on and off all night. We are leaving today anyway but it would have been better if it was dry to pack away a tent.

RidgedPerfection · 17/08/2019 06:15

Because I get up every morning at 0430 so staying asleep until 0600 was a lie in!

Jacksback · 17/08/2019 06:18

Woke early 5 as felt too hot so moved myself to the cooler bedroom ( and without snoring dp ) also a bit of work anxiety so that did not help .

Gilead · 17/08/2019 06:18

Given up trying to sleep for now, I’ve had an increase in my steroid dose recently and they cause insomnia.

Pigletpoglet · 17/08/2019 06:22

Dog show 5 hours drive away... The things you do for your kids!

taybert · 17/08/2019 06:23

We’re going on holiday and I’m too excited to sleep. I’ve been awake since 5.30. What am I, a seven year old? Also, I’m a bit peckish.

largepinotplease · 17/08/2019 06:26

DS woke me up at 5 o'clock and I've not been able to get back to sleep. He's still awake too and I've done the lazy thing and given him the kindle to watch Thomas while I lay here on my phone because even though I'm awake I don't actually want to get out of bed yet. DH is snoring like a walrus oblivious so we're not disturbing him.

I didn't sleep well at all which is annoying because we've got a busy day today. Me and DH are out with my family for my mums birthday doing an escape room and then dinner and drinks and DS is spending the day and night with the in laws, they're taking him out for the day so he'll have a great time with them (he's nearly 3) I'm just a bit anxious though because he's only in the past few weeks been going out in pants not pull ups and although he's only had one accident whilst out I'm still worried because I don't want him to be distracted and have an accident somewhere really inconvenient but I know MIL is more than capable and I bought a travel potty especially so he should be fine 🤞🏻

FrannySalinger · 17/08/2019 06:32

I woke at 4:30, which is not unusual. Just read the Guardian article on super larks and now feeling slightly guilty about spending the last two hours lying in bed doing my Ocado shop and browsing reddit when I could have been learning Italian or gone for a six mile run...

AnnonniMoose · 17/08/2019 06:35

I just realised the time! I haven't even been to bed yet Shock. Was watching Netflix on my PC. I think I'll go crawl under my nice warm duvet now while listening to the rain clattering on the roof. Nighty night.

Tyrotoxicity · 17/08/2019 06:35

Not made it to bed yet.

Got home just after midnight, but the news that my rapist is a woman now has left me reeling and I can't sleep.

Which is a bugger, because DD is due home from her grandma's in about five hours.
