Do you bleach your bath?

After reading on another thread about people using (or in this case not using) bleach when cleaning their baths I was shocked to hear that I'm in the minority of people who do this.
Do you use bleach to clean your baths?

OP posts:

I have occasionally in the past but only really for baby / toddler poo issues.

I don't actually even have any bleach in the house at the moment.

Cif cream smells much nicer and does just as good a job.

DameSquashalot · 12/08/2019 20:42

I quite like the smell of Method. 😊

WarmthAndDepth · 12/08/2019 20:43

The effect of chlorine bleach on the environment is shocking. Honestly, I often think that some people's ridiculous 'standards' of cleanliness will bring an end to marine life as we know it. So many of our regular cleaning state very clearly 'harmful to aquatic life' on the label, yet they are added, squirt by wicked squirt, day after day, to our waterways and oceans. Sob.

No I use a wilko bath cleaner

daisypond · 12/08/2019 20:44

No, never. It would never occur to me. I’ll sometimes use a bit of bleach to clean and whiten the grouting between the tiles. And some down the loo one a week.

WarmthAndDepth · 12/08/2019 20:50

cleaning products, of course.

bugeyedbarber · 12/08/2019 20:51

Cif Power and Shine is amazing at cleaning bathrooms and there is a version for the kitchens too. The best ever and no need for bleach anywhere but the loo and even then it's once a week.

itsabootyhole · 12/08/2019 20:59

Yes I bleach my whole bathroom even the tiled floor. And I bleach the kitchen floor.

MrsTommyBanks · 12/08/2019 21:04

I've never used bleach for anything except cleaning the loo and clearing up when pets have had accidents indoors.

Sparklingbrook · 12/08/2019 21:04

Why do you need to disinfect the bath? What are you doing in there? Confused
Method or similar bathroom cleaner is perfectly good.

Entire bathroom gets bleached

TheSandman · 12/08/2019 21:14

Can’t believe how many people don’t 🤮 yes I do. I clean the whole bathroom with bleach plus kitchen sink and kitchen surfaces

Do you have any sense of smell left?

Marshmarigoldssss · 12/08/2019 21:17

Never bleached a bath. It's completely unnecessary. For those that do, don't you care about the effect on marine life?

Casander · 12/08/2019 21:21

I bleach the entire bathroom (sink, bath, tiles, toilet, floor) and most of the kitchen, I thought everyone did Blush

Sparklingbrook · 12/08/2019 21:21

If i walk into a house and I smell bleach I assume there's a bout of D&V or the dog/cat has pooed somewhere. Bleurgh.
Why would you want your house to smell of public toilets?

UrbanMage · 12/08/2019 21:22

Viakal the bath weekly as the limescale we get is gross and give it a spray using bathroom cleaner about half a week later.

Then zoflo down the plughole.

lazylinguist · 12/08/2019 21:22

Sorry in advance for shouting, but YOU DO NOT NEED BLEACH TO GET THINGS PROPERLY CLEAN, even if someone has sneezed on your bath ShockHmm.

People who do 🤮 emojis at the thought of someone not using bleach are utterly ridiculous. Stop being prissy and germ-phobic and thing of the environment (and your immune system).

notso · 12/08/2019 21:24

I sometimes bleach the toilets, drains and have used bleach sprays on mould and stains.
When DS had E. coli I used bleach to clean the bathroom, floors and door handles as advised by the lovely lady from the Environmental Health Department.

I don't understand why the bath would need to be regularly bleached unless it's contained hazardous waste.

Benjispruce · 12/08/2019 21:24

Every now and then after watching Kim and Aggie do those swab tests showing most baths contain poo matter. But generally I just give it a good scrub with a general cleaner and shower off with very hot water.

Benjispruce · 12/08/2019 21:26

Even when I do use bleach, it’s a drop in hot water, never neat.

FeeFee832 · 12/08/2019 21:28

Bleached my bath this afternoon! Do it regularly - bleach the bath, leave for 10 mins and rinse. Do the same with the sink and the toilet!

MerryDeath · 12/08/2019 21:36

flash bathroom for me. bleach is only for the loo and exceptional disaster zones. no one has died or even contracted any infections, yet!

WanderingTrolley1 · 12/08/2019 21:38

I only bleach the bog.

DameSquashalot · 12/08/2019 21:40

Bleaching a bath is absolute madness (unless there is some kind of deadly disease)
