If you’re into classical music, what did you have at your wedding?

I don’t want Pachelbel’s Canon! Any suggestions?

I walked into a movement from Corelli Christmas Concerto (it wasn’t Christmas, I just loved the music!) played by a string quartet.

Signing of the register to Bach Cello Suite No.1, 1st movement.

We walked out to something by Bach, I think it was ‘Sheep may safely graze’. I can’t remember now - it was 13 years ago Blush

Here comes the bride played to start off.
Exit to The Wedding march by Mendelssohn.
Simple Registry wedding . No music other than that.
Widors Toccata is quite uplifting for the exit.

Walked in to Haydn’s St Anthony Chorale.
Walked out to the traditional Wedding March by Mendelssohn.

If you have Spotify or similar type in Wedding Music and you will be given quite a few pieces to consider ...

DrDetriment · 11/08/2019 22:12

Meditation from Thais is beautiful. Or Ave Maria.

SageYourResoluteOracle · 11/08/2019 22:12

Entered to The Arrival of the Queen of Sheba, register was signed to Jesu Joy of Man's Desiring and Humouresque (I think... I was in the vestry...) and then exited to Widor's Toccato. It's a belter and I was practically waving my bouquet like a triumphant conquerer!

Dirtyjellycat · 11/08/2019 22:14

Elgar’s Salut d’amour. I still love it. It’s more simple than some entrance music but very elegant somehow!

DramaAlpaca · 11/08/2019 22:14

One of the pieces I had was Clarke's Trumpet Voluntary. I think that's the one I walked down the aisle to.

It's so long ago, nearly 30 years, that I can't remember the rest but if I do I'll come back.

Dirtyjellycat · 11/08/2019 22:15

I had a small wedding in a small venue - perhaps that’s significant.

Dapplegrey · 11/08/2019 22:15

Widows Toccata is wonderful.
Wedding Day at Trolhaugen Grieg
Blumenlied Gustav Lang

goodgodlemon · 11/08/2019 22:19

I also had St Anthony's Chorale for entrance and then Queen of Sheba for exit. I agree with Pavlova31 - try spotify or YouTube for ideas. Enjoy!

taybert · 11/08/2019 22:20

Oo, sage, I walked in to The Arrival of the Queen of Sheba and exited to Widor’s Toccata. Toccata is joyous!

Aph413 · 11/08/2019 22:22

Walked in to Jesu joy of man's desiring and left to the wedding march.

Twixes · 11/08/2019 22:32

Dirtyjellycat I also walked in to Salut D'Amour, I love it and randomly heard it in a shop on our anniversary this year

Walked out to a Scott Joplin rag

DrMaryMalone · 11/08/2019 22:33

We had a fab organist who I had known since I was little. Walked into Arrival of the Queen of Sheba, had a mashup of Pachabel Cannon and Air on G String for signing the register then walked out to Widdors Toccata. Guests listened to her play Whiter Shade of Pale mashed with bridge over troubled water while waiting for me to arrive.

Doobigetta · 11/08/2019 22:34

Bach cello suites, the Swan, Air on a G string. Delibes’ flower duet and the Ode to Joy for up and down the aisle.

Disfordarkchocolate · 11/08/2019 22:40

The humming chorus from Madam Butterfly.

DappledThings · 11/08/2019 23:09

Signed register to Morten Lauridsen's Ubi Caritas. Hired a choir for it. One of my favourite things about the day.

Mac47 · 11/08/2019 23:14

I wanted barbers adagio for strings, love it. I didn't get my way (shape of things to come).

doodlejump1980 · 11/08/2019 23:14

In to the Stanley trumpet voluntary, out to Highland Cathedral.

Misty9 · 11/08/2019 23:19

I walked in to a beautiful piano piece called a river runs through you (I think) - but we're divorcing after 8 years...!

percheron67 · 11/08/2019 23:20

I had Vivaldi's Concerto for two trumpets - the trumpeters came into view of the guests as I walked down the aisle. We walked out of church to another part of the same piece.

Misty9 · 11/08/2019 23:20

Oops- river flows in you by yiruma

ThatsNotAKnifeThatsASpoon · 11/08/2019 23:20

@Mac47 really? That piece is pretty much synonymous with sadness/tragedy. I love it to bits but would not think it appropriate for a wedding AT ALL. Think you were overruled correctly I'm afraid!

khaleesi71 · 11/08/2019 23:47

I walked in to Delibes Flower Duet from Lakme - I can't for the life of me remember what we played to leave the registry!!
