Wedding ceremony songs - help please!!

Hi,

Getting married soon and trying to finalise the songs for during the ceremony.

Pretty much got them all sorted apart from one to walk out of the room once we're married. I'm wanting something fun and I'm thinking of Hey Ya buy OutKast but not sure what people will think (yes I know I shouldn't care, I am slowly learning not to).

Just wondering what everyone else's was as it might help?

Hey!

I totally get wanting to walk down the aisle to something fun!

Personally, I would stay away from Hey Ya as I always thought the song was about how it was better to separate? I just giggled the meaning of the song and this is from Andre 3000 interview

Hey Ya! is pretty much about the state of relationships in the 2000s. It’s about some people who stay together in relationships because of tradition, because somebody told them, ‘You guys are supposed to stay together.’
But you pretty much end up being unhappy for the rest of your life. So ‘Hey Ya!’ is really about saying, ‘F*ck it. Live life, you know?’

I've seen some lovely walk in songs: what a wonderful world by Louis Armstrong, Lovely Day by Bill Withers.... I know they're slower but just trying to think of something jazzy with the right sentiment?

I didn't giggle, that would be mental-I googled🤦🏻‍♀️

WarmSausageTea · 12/08/2019 09:11

Wherever Whenever by Shakira? DP and I had that as one of the songs at our thing. (Also Love Changes Everything by Climie Fisher, which lyrically wasn’t the most apt. Blush )

LoseLooseLucy · 12/08/2019 09:15

I LOVE Hey Ya, great choice 👌

We had "We've Only Just Begun" by The Carpenters 😁🎶🎶

I love these lyrics:
We've only just begun to live
White lace and promises
A kiss for luck and we're on our way

LiGlitterBug · 12/08/2019 10:08

We had Be Young, Be Foolish, Be Happy as our walk out song- always makes me smile. We also had Hall & Oates- You Make My Dreams Come True for the second part of our first dance (after a minute of slow swaying to Ben Folds- The Luckiest, we wanted to liven up the dance floor!)

SunniDay · 12/08/2019 10:21

We walked out to Mr Brightside-it's one of our songs, there are silly actions and everything!

NeccecaryOnABicycle · 12/08/2019 11:10

"So why, oh, why, oh
Why, oh, why, oh, why, oh
Are we still in denial when we know we're not happy here"

Possibly not so wedding-y..?

FunnyHappyGirl · 12/08/2019 13:45

I'm currently contemplating "At Last" by Etta James, just because everyone keeps telling us it's about time we got married!

But then I heard "This Will Be" by Natalie Cole on the radio the other day and it made me cry a little at the thought of using it on my wedding day, so I think that one's a front runner for me now.

Clawdy · 12/08/2019 13:57

DS and his partner had Al Green's Let's Stay Together. The words are perfect.

Yeahnahmum · 12/08/2019 14:08

😊

TheArtfulScreamer1 · 12/08/2019 14:08

First wedding walked out to Slade Coz I love you because we used to go and watch a local band together a lot when dating and they covered this and second wedding walked out to Queen Born to love you as my dad had died the year before and he was a massive Queen fan so all our wedding songs were Queen as a nod to my dad.
I like to choose songs that have a reason or story behind them that's personal.
