Wedding ceremony songs - help please!!

Hi,

Getting married soon and trying to finalise the songs for during the ceremony.

Pretty much got them all sorted apart from one to walk out of the room once we're married. I'm wanting something fun and I'm thinking of Hey Ya buy OutKast but not sure what people will think (yes I know I shouldn't care, I am slowly learning not to).

Just wondering what everyone else's was as it might help?

I walked out to Bruno Mars Marry you. Was very fun and fitting. Obadiah Parker has a beautiful version of Hey ya that we had on our list. We also had here comes the sun. I really wanted Happy together by The Turtles for some reason! Walked down the aisle to a thousand years. I really didn't want to as it's so over done but it's such a beautiful song!

We've picked a song by a Canadian singer who isn't very well known in this country.

We looked at a few artists we each like and narrowed it down. We wanted to avoid the "classics" and pick a song / singer that means something to us, not just because it's popular for weddings.

Signed sealed delivered?
Everybody dance now?

We had an upbeat folk song for ours: it takes seconds to leave so whatever you choose pick something with immediate impact.

MaisieMoo02 · 12/08/2019 15:22

Maybe I wont choose Outkast after some of you have rightly pointed out the lyrics 😂 I think because it's so upbeat i dont listen to the lyrics!

We were going to have The Lumineers hey ho but as some of your have said, it doesnt take long to walk out and that song takes a while to kick in.

I did really want White Stripes - Seven Nation Army cause we absolutely love that song but its definitely not wedding-y 😂

We walked out to the Main Theme from Star Wars, because we're super geeky.

To my huge disappointment, no one could hear it because people were cheering and clapping as we walked out. Well, I wasn't disappointed by the cheering and clapping, obvs - just that they missed the music!

Our wedding wasn't at all off-beat, BTW - it was very traditional apart from the ceremony music!

Clawdy · 12/08/2019 15:45

My friend walked out to the Star Wars theme, because they got married on May 4th! Their invites said May The Fourth Be With You!

TheGirlOnTheLanding · 12/08/2019 15:57

I was at a wedding where the couple walked out to Baby I Love You by The Ramones. Made us all smile, and it was very them. Choose something that suits you rather than generic weddingy songs, IMO. (Maybe not Hey Ya though!)

stucknoue · 12/08/2019 16:13

Dd sings at weddings. Number one choice is ave Maria, second is I will always love you, third is that ole devil called love. Just pick something that will stand the test of time. The next booking she has is for a piece called "loves philosophy" a devil for the poor accompanist apparently!

beatriceprior · 12/08/2019 16:47

We are having signed sealed delivered by stevie wonder next week

MaisieMoo02 · 12/08/2019 17:01

Thanks everyone! We both love rock/metal music but I'm being very aware that not all of our guests like that type of music. The rest of the ceremony music I have found covers of our favourite songs for example one is vitamin string quarter covering metallica nothing else matters. (VSQ are amazing and cover everything!)

I'm really trying to keep it true to us and songs we like rather than what is thought of at a wedding if that makes, I just cant decide 🤦‍♀️

Then walking on sunshine as we left the room

Our first dance was suddenly by Billy ocean

Last dance we've had the time of our lives

I used Faith Hill- This Kiss
“It's the way you love me
It's a feeling like this
It's centrifugal motion
It's perpetual bliss
It's that pivotal moment
It's impossible
This kiss, this kiss (Unstoppable)
This kiss, this kiss”

Mileysmiley · 12/08/2019 19:41

I was going to have this until I realised it was about the end of the world
