Nothing says 'good morning' on a Saturday like a cat vomiting on the stairs.

Luckily she's not ill, just had a hairball. But the strangled shriek jolting me awake, desperate retching and subsequent mess? Happy bloody Saturday.

Oh yes, nothing makes me leap out of bed more than the noise of the cat vomming. And mine ALWAYS do it on the stairs, which as I have a spiral staircase with holes between each step makes it incredibly annoying Hmm

gotmychocolateimgood · 10/08/2019 08:33

Bleurgh. Our stairs are carpeted, she did it in the first step. Why not on the hard floor just below?!

I've always wanted a spiral staircase! But maybe not with a puking cat.

I’m also cleaning up cat vomit this morning! I didn’t hear it happen though. Mine always seem to vomit on the rug in the sitting room, which is a pain to clean

TroysMammy · 10/08/2019 08:36

After 3 years of being catless I thought I was ready for another kitty in my life. I'm going to be thinking for a while yet Smile.

Especially as the weather is awful here today and I also remember the I want to go out, I want to come in, it's your fault it's raining and windy looks I used to have.

gotmychocolateimgood · 10/08/2019 08:41

She now wants to snuggle on my bed (I've given up on the day already with squabbling DCs and malfunctioning coffee machine thrown in the mix). No way puss!

Ugh yes why do they do it first thing in the morning? Mine has let me off vom cleaning duty today (so far) (unless I just haven’t noticed and stand in it at some point) but regularly wakes me up with it - delightful. (she’s seen the vet and everything- she’s just a vomity cat!)

🐱🤮

Still I once had a weeing cat. I prefer the vomiter tbh.

LadyBumclock · 10/08/2019 08:45

Yes after vomming mine comes over to nuzzle me with her face Envy

ElfrideSwancourt · 10/08/2019 08:46

I feel your pain! Have frequently woken up the rest of the family shouting 'can't you boak on a hard surface!?' 😻

TheVanguardSix · 10/08/2019 08:52

Ugh. It's so gross. What's worse is when I see the chunky contents of the food I never fed my cat. Thank you, neighbours! Thanks for keeping it real.
And it's always on a rug. Why puke on the ample amount of hard flooring when there's a rug? I think my cat thinks it's fun for me. He just looks at me like, "But you LOVE getting out the sodium bicarbonate. I choose carpet for your pleasure, not mine."
It's a really dysfunctional relationship.

SpuriouserAndSpuriouser · 10/08/2019 08:55

Is the rug vomiting a thing then? I thought it was just my cats! The vom this morning was right on the edge of the rug, a mere inch or so from the hard floor. Why??

mollpop · 10/08/2019 08:56

I found half a mouse on my living room carpet this morning and a cat who ate less breakfast than usual. I think the two things are connected!

WoollyMummoth · 10/08/2019 09:03

Yes there’s nothing more relaxing than being rudely awaken by Dcat retching away on my bed. I could have been a contender against Usain Bolt for the speed I scooped him up(still boaking) and popped him in the garden. I love him to bits but he has a tendency for hiding under my bed to vom and I seem to be the resident cat sick cleaner, well not this morning sunshine.🤨

Ilovetolurk · 10/08/2019 09:07

I usually open the kitchen door first thing on a morning to go skidding across the floor so I think carpet would be an improvement

Vinorosso74 · 10/08/2019 09:10

Stairs seem to be a favourite puking spot. As a child we had a patterned carpet in the stairs so you couldn't actually see the puke and I always used to find it by standing in it.
Our lad occasionally eats his wet food too fast and likes it back up on the plate..... Grim creatures.

Vinorosso74 · 10/08/2019 09:10

*pukes

drspouse · 10/08/2019 09:20

No mice today for the first time in a while, but the cat keeps looking out of the cat flap to see if it's raining still, after she just came in through it.

Lighteninginabottle27 · 10/08/2019 09:26

I came home from work to a hairball on which a fly had laid eggs. If only been out the house 4hrs ffs. Made worse that we'd had a thunderstorm and the dog had toileted all over the kitchen floor bless her. Marvellous.

CigarsofthePharoahs · 10/08/2019 09:32

My cat, lovingly adopted from Cats Protection League, was sooo grateful for us giving her a forever home that she barfed up a huge hairball the first night she was with us.
It was a sign of how she'd generally treat us over the years. Still, we've had 14 years of her thinly disguised contempt and I live her very much.
Even though I had to get rid of my sheepskin rug and my beanbag as she thought they both were toilets.

Ronsters · 10/08/2019 10:07

When my cat pukes, its never all in one place. There's the primary site, then usually a couple of others where he's done a smaller, secondary vom. Always on the carpets too. I'd had my new carpet down less than a week before my lad barfed on it.

Bezalelle · 10/08/2019 10:09

Ah, "the noise"!

Mine always finds the carpet, even if the laminate floor is closer. Bastard!

LaBelleSauvage123 · 10/08/2019 10:11

My cat has form for puking on the TV remote. Not pretty.

Ratonastick · 10/08/2019 10:12

Could be worse. I had one of those metal grid door mats outside the back door once. One beautiful, bucolic summer morning, I stepped out of the back door with my steaming coffee in my hand to admire the sunrise and morning dew. And diced a dead mouse through the grid with my bare foot........ so yeah, could be worse.

gotmychocolateimgood · 10/08/2019 10:16

I feel a bit better nowGrin

I feel your pain, my 18 year old cat took a dump on my shag pile rug.

Veronicat · 10/08/2019 10:22

I dont know. A partially digested baby bird was waiting for me this morning with bare feet 🤢
