A man comes twice year to do it

Wombleish · 06/08/2019 19:49

You're meant to clean ovens? Shock

ItsJustTheOneSwanActually · 06/08/2019 19:49

Self Cleaning ovens do need to be told to do a Self Clean cycle Grin

Saturday I did mine. Pushed the button and came back 3 hrs later to a little pile of ash in the bottom. Fab.

OldAndWornOut · 06/08/2019 19:49

I did mine a couple of months ago, but it had been about 15 years since it was last done.

TeenTimesTwo · 06/08/2019 19:50

Ours is 20 years old.
I have never cleaned it except the inside of the door so I can see in.

What do the regular cleaners cook that makes their oven so in need?

CookPassBabtridge · 06/08/2019 19:51

Never.. lived here two years. Never did our last one either..

Sakura7 · 06/08/2019 19:52

I do mine about once a year

namby · 06/08/2019 19:54

I don't know, DH does it, we have a single oven so the grease gathers on the filament so can't be left for too long, but isn't a regular task!

NoHummus · 06/08/2019 20:00

When did I what now?!

Ridingthegravytrain · 06/08/2019 20:02

Last week! But before that never since we bought it 2 years ago. It’s very satisfying!

BadHairDyeDay · 06/08/2019 20:04

Did what to the oven? Confused

ThinkIveFoundYourMarbles · 06/08/2019 20:05

This thread really should have come with a trigger warning... ShockGrin

GymKitJen · 06/08/2019 20:05

5 years ago when we moved in.

Charcoal at the bottom of it 🤷‍♀️

HarrietSchulenberg · 06/08/2019 20:07

About 5+ years ago. It's 16 years old but working perfectly. I keep hoping it will die so I can buy a new one as it's crap. I think I'm going to have to pay for it to be cleaned as I really CBA.

justthecat · 06/08/2019 20:13

I do it every Sunday to keep on top if it because I know how grim it gets and also know the only idiot that would ever think about is me

Sparklingbrook · 06/08/2019 20:15

I get mine done twice a year by an oven cleaning company. It looks like new every time.

Jinglebin1 · 06/08/2019 20:15

About 4 months ago. I do it about twice a year

Nextphonewontbesamsung · 06/08/2019 20:16

More than 20 years ago. We pay to have ours done.

hussandchips56 · 06/08/2019 20:39

Sometime last year, I did check the bank balance before to see if I could get a new one but no, I had to clean it.

After cleaning it I swore I would do it once a week to keep on top of it, yesterday I checked the bank balance to see if I could afford to get a new one.

buttertoasty · 06/08/2019 23:59

This has made me feel better. It does look pretty grim but not yet at the stage where it smells like roast dinner no matter what you cook.

I like the idea of once a year early December

OP posts:
Mac47 · 07/08/2019 00:05

Delighted to report I did it on Sunday. However, I don't think I've used it more than once in the last 6 months, so was an easy job.

BreconBeBuggered · 07/08/2019 00:08

What am I, my MIL?

StillMedusa · 07/08/2019 00:14

I THINK Dh cleaned it about a year ago.
I have never cleaned my oven!

KJaggard1 · 07/08/2019 00:15

I clean mine weekly, it’s so much easier than spending hours with a scourer and horrid chemicals. 5 minute job every Wednesday when I clean the kitchen. I have a big family and cook everything including bread in it every day so if I didn’t I’d start getting that burning smell when it was heating up very very quickly.

DustyMaiden · 07/08/2019 00:17

Once a month, use liners and put in dishwasher so easy job .
