What's your favourite UK seaside town?

Looking for somewhere for a traditional seaside holiday.

I'd like a nice, safe, sandy beach.
Water warm enough to swim (or at least wade) in.
A few shops, cafes, fish and chips and ice cream within walking distance.
Don't really want nightlife, arcades etc.
What's your favourite?

Another vote for beautiful croyde although it’s more a village than a town

Flashesofrage · 03/08/2019 16:09

Amroth, Looe, Charmouth or the whole of Jersey 👌

Lobsterquadrille2 · 03/08/2019 16:15

Deal, Cromer or Aberystwyth (the last is sentimental because it was my university town). Or Whitby.

MrsCasares · 03/08/2019 16:28

Perranporth

Lytham

converseandjeans · 03/08/2019 16:28

papergirl nice to see Tywyn being mentioned. Lovely place. Been going 20 years.
Also like Beer, Padstow area, Southwold.

MammaBot211 · 03/08/2019 16:39

Whitby, Sandsend, Robin Hoods Bay, all are stunning. I love Seahouses near The Farne Islands as well.

Dollywilde · 03/08/2019 16:40

Sidmouth! Down here at the moment for folk week and it’s glorious. Stone beach but otherwise everything you could ask for.

TeamUnicorn · 03/08/2019 16:56

No there's a crazy golf on the promenade bit now at Saltburn. Only a small one, but you can win a free game at the end.

Armi · 03/08/2019 17:11

Another vote for Alnmouth, but I don’t want to be too enthusiastic about it in case it becomes too wildly popular.

Genderwitched · 03/08/2019 17:16

We go to Hayle in Cornwall, near St Ives, it's a wonderful beach.

Whitstable in Kent which is traditional and lovely.

And Charmouth near Lyme Regis, where you can pick up fossils which have washed up with the tide.

Satchell · 03/08/2019 17:17

Seahouses, Tynemouth or Filey

MaMisled · 03/08/2019 17:19

Tenby takes the crown.

Satchell · 03/08/2019 17:19

Or Llandudno

lifelongfrugaleer · 03/08/2019 17:21

@teamunicorn yes of course, just near the loos

billybagpuss · 03/08/2019 17:26

Another vote for Tenby, its slightly quieter to stay further around the bay in either Saundersfoot (nice campsite on the hill Moreton farm) or Amroth great beach has a large caravan site with very easy access to the beach. The sea is warmer along this coast as its a very long sandy beach with a very high and low tide so it warms up nicely.

whingeygingy · 03/08/2019 17:29

Also fossils under cliffs at Walton on Naze next town to frinton

wheresshegone · 03/08/2019 17:31

Following with interest! Loveee love love the seaside we go all different ones quite reguarly but sadly haven't found one without arcades

ballsdeep · 03/08/2019 17:31

Croyde
Hayle in Cornwall 💕
Tenby

FiveGoMadInDorset · 03/08/2019 17:32

Plenty of things to do near Swanage without the need to use the chain link ferry

Skyejuly · 03/08/2019 17:35

Some of these are lovely...ie perranporth but it doesn't feel traditional.

Southwold has peir and arcades and looks very Victorian. :-)

Skyejuly · 03/08/2019 17:35

No arcades at aldeburgh!

OrangeJustice · 03/08/2019 17:36

Tenby 100%. Just got back from a glorious week there and have got the post-hol blues Sad

vintagechick43 · 03/08/2019 17:38

Looe or swanage.
Sidmouth is quite nice as well.

BelindasGleeTeam · 03/08/2019 17:40

Hayle or Fowey in Cornwall
Bournemouth/Southbourne a bit quieter

AnnaDine · 03/08/2019 17:42
