When I was little, dm referred to crumpets as verrucas...
Can't eat them now.

Bloodycats · 02/08/2019 15:00

Soreen is baby bread.
I like to imagine it’s because it’s made of babies but DS insists it’s because it’s a baby loaf of bread.

Chocolate spread is nimnim in our house.

It's not food, but to tell our kids it's bedtime, we say 'poopy fishsticks' or 'poopers time'. I can't for the life of me remember where that came from.

Actually we don't really speak english in our house, it's 90% gibberish. It's just as well they go to school.

ysmaem · 02/08/2019 15:09

We refer to sweetcorn as yellow peas. Thats about it

Cwtches123 · 02/08/2019 15:12

Rice cakes are "puffies" in our house. Probably because it's puffed rice!

My dd referred to milk as mook. Her logic was cows say moo! She's 12 and we still say it.

We also call calpol cowpooh. 🤪

IamWaggingBrenda · 02/08/2019 15:49

A favourite of my children when they were small was cheese and pineapple on sticks. We called them (and still do) Scooby Snacks. No idea why.

AllHopeAndNoResults · 02/08/2019 16:07

fourquenelles · 02/08/2019 16:08

Messy bridge dinner = spare ribs. My nephew was undergoing treatment for leukemia when he was 3 and really, really REALLY wanted messy bridge dinner. Took us a while to work that one out Grin

Kiwi fruit were hairy horses when I was a child,.I call most food spicy that I dont want to share with ds Wink

Ratonastick · 02/08/2019 17:48

Skiddlydoos - sausages in tortilla wraps from the barbecue. Named because my DM was once counting them out under her breath and went “one, two, skiddlydoo”. We all heard, boggled a bit then it stuck!

And my dad once told DB (when he was 3) that jumbo sausages were made of elephants. He was inconsolable and hasn’t touched them since (he’s 51).
