With God as my witness; I'll never buy an electrical appliance from Ikea again

The oven is shit, the microwave crap and the fridge/freezer is destined for Hell.

The rest of kitchen is lovely and the gas hob is fine.

Yet oddly enough, I have never heard it happen to anyone else. Ikea kitchens seem to be shoddy, I have rarely heard a good word about them. And if the fitters they use are that incompetent, I wouldn't touch them with a barge pole.

Krusty the fitters IKEA use here are contract fitters who also do John Lewis and a number of other big name kitchen shops...

MN is full of people very satisfied with IKEa kitchens. They also have a 25 year guarantee, unlike pretty much anyone else.

Just confirm again - there is nothing wrong with the kitchen - I love it. It looked great, love the cupboards, the wooden work tops are fabulous and the fitting was great.

The electrical appliances are not up to the standard I want. We have 5 appliances, the gas hob and the dishwasher are fine. The electric oven is poor, the microwave poor, and I hate the freezer part of the the fridge freezer.

The units, cupboards and work tops are fine.

Their lighting is curiously dim

I rented a house with an IKEA kitchen and oven. The oven was absolutely rubbish, it was a toss up between what would ruin dinner more - the ancient converted to oil aga or the ikea oven!

We have a very expensive bespoke kitchen (definitely not a stealth boast, we didn't pay for it). When the fitters were in the units fell of the wall onto a fitter. Nothing to do with the overpriced and frankly ok units, totally to do with not using the right fittings for the weight of the units. Luckily the fitter was only concussed not killed, which he could have been.
