Overheard on the train

Man several seats away silently picks up a ringing phone.
"....Who is it?"
".."
"Terribly sorry I'm on a mountain train in Tibet; terrible signal!"
"......"
"Oh, no, no; I'm losing you..."
hangs up

No mate. We're going through a tunnel near Streatham.

Would love to know why that particular lie!!

Any other odd train conversations which have enlivened your journey? Or maybe it's just me who's overly entertained by minutiae!

OP that's a terrible lie. Trains in Tibet are probably more frequent than in Streatham.

A yak train??!!

Some lovely woman on an Uxbridge bound bus telling a friend on the phone in a loud voice about a bloke who upset her (not as much as you'd think) by having sex with her and rolling over and having sex with someone else in the same bed. Really graphic.

I love the idea of a yak train!!

To be fair, given Thames link's recent lack of prowess then a Tibetan yak - powered mountain train would probably have an excellent signal and be more likely to run on time!

My commute tonight has been blissfully silent.....
