What a cliche :o

I hope you get your sugar replaced! Grin

I have a friend who lives on the same floor as me- he does come around to ask if I have bread or spare salt.

StealthPolarBear · 28/07/2019 13:21

I know, I'll maybe suggest a repayment plan of a couple of sachets a week for six months.

I love this I borrowed a tin of beans of my neighbour the other day she's my friend so it's okay and was a simple text we live in a block of flats so she stuck them in the lift and sent it up to me Grin

StealthPolarBear · 28/07/2019 13:24

That's brilliant :)

Anita I don't understand....who asked to borrow the ciggies? Your partner? Or your neigbour? Who HAD the ciggies to give?

Hidingtonothing · 28/07/2019 13:32

Beans in the lift Grin I considered knocking a few doors to see if anyone had any cucumber the other day but thought neighbours might think I was a weirdo! It's DD's favourite thing and features in most of her meals but someone DH had nudged the fridge dial up by accident and the salad was all frozen solid.

Thatsalovelycuppatea · 28/07/2019 13:35

Our neighbors borrow things, or have used electrical appliances if theirs have broken or they have work done. I don't mind as I know they are genuine and would return the favour.

StealthPolarBear · 28/07/2019 13:37

Neighbour wanted them and she sent a couple of her partners' down I think

I am your neighbour! Lend me your sugar!

Wise words from OutKast, hey ya 😭🤣🤣🤣

Outsomnia · 28/07/2019 13:40

My lovely neighbour loaned me his CEMENT MIXER! No joke it is diesel powered, I had a fella in doing some pointing and stuff outside and his mixer died on him. Neighbour saw the problem and voila!

Good neighbours cannot be bought or bribed. They are just good. And I am a good neighbour too.

I had to ask my neighbour for a spoonful of mayonnaise! My 5 year old suddenly decided he likes the white sauce he has with tuna and jacket potato at school. After always refusing to try mayonnaise we hardly buy it. Luckily she is lovely I wouldn't have asked if I hadn't known she'd find it funny and happily help out.

Sunburntnoseandears · 28/07/2019 13:44

Once my ndn asked to borrow some pj's. Assumed maybe her washer was broken so gave her a brand new black satin pair I had gotten off an aunt. The slide out of bed sort!
She returned them washed soon after... Some time later she asked again but specified the same ones.
Apparently her bf liked her wearing them when they had sex!
Told her politely she could just keep them!

Frownette · 28/07/2019 13:56

Yikes Sunburntnoseandears that's a step too far!

Love the lift shenanigans

raspberryk · 28/07/2019 14:01

I had to ask my neighbour to defrost some chicken for us in her microwave once 🤣, previous neighbours have borrowed an onion and ramekins.

H2OH20Everywhere · 28/07/2019 14:04

It's cat food that does the rounds here. Quite a few of us have helped each other out in emergencies.

Wereonabearhunt · 28/07/2019 14:05

My neighbour asked to borrow my lawn mower once when his broke halfway through his garden and was having family round that eve. We were going out so told him we'd leave the back gate open for him to pop it back so it wasnt in his way when the guests arrived. We came home and he had cut our grass too while we were out.. what a gem!

anitagreen · 28/07/2019 14:09

@HennyPennyHorror ah sorry my neighbour downstairs she knows my partner smokes so she asked me to borrow her 2 Grin

anitagreen · 28/07/2019 14:12

These remind me of Friday night dinner when Jim knocks and asks Jackie if he can borrow her bath as he's caught fire as it's made of "Elmmmm" Grin

HennyPennyHorror · 28/07/2019 14:14

Anita thanks! I had to know! :D My neighbour once came round and asked to borrow DH's hair clippers!

I was a bit grossed out by that...he shaves his chest with it sometimes! I said I didn't know where it was. She wanted to shave her mate's hair!

Isn't that a bit off? Asking for someone's personal grooming tool??

VirginiaCreeper · 28/07/2019 14:14

We live miles from a shop so my neighbour and often borrow missing ingredients.
I owe her an onionGrin

MillieMoodle · 28/07/2019 14:16

I asked my neighbour if she wanted some yoghurts as my DC suddenly decided they don't like that sort and she's got 3 DC who are similar ages. Popped over the road to deliver them and she had got a strawberry vodka and lemonade ready in return AND she sent me home with a little bottle of it. She is my favourite neighbour Grin

MaitlandGirl · 28/07/2019 14:22

The neighbours on one side borrowed some tea bags the other day (they figured as I'm English I'd drink tea - we live in Australia).

The neighbour on the other side is currently sulking and ignoring us as I stopped smoking so he can't borrow cigarettes (that he never replaced). There are a whole heap of reasons why we don't miss his friendship, but basically he was a right CF.

minniemoll · 28/07/2019 14:22

My neighbours and I borrow stuff (food, garden equipment etc) from each other all the time - a quick text is usually followed by someone at the door with the thing you're after. Or a reply saying that they're not in but do use your key to help yourself :)

I love my neighbours.
