My neighbours borrow loads from us, and vice versa. Its fab. A favourite at one point was cooking ingredients for school. They currently have my jet wash, I have a jug of theirs. Oh and I still have a funeral dress I borrowed last year, and am sure a least one of my baking trays is round there. And we have a sharing stock pot as well. It's actually ndns but she didn't have room in her pan cupboard for it, so it lives with me.

I also borrowed her partner last night to drop us off at restaurant as we couldn't get through to taxi firm.

Love, love, love my ndns.

I borrowed sausages last week from my neighbour we had planned a last minute bbq but forgot the vital ingredient of anything to go on the bbq and my neighbour came to the rescue.
She has 2 grandchildren and has borrowed my pram, travel cot.

Good neighbours are great 👍

Judystilldreamsofhorses · 28/07/2019 14:35

My neighbour has our sink plunger, and has had for over a year. This thread has just reminded me. (I suspect she also currently has our cat, who seems to prefer her garden to ours.)

GlamGiraffe · 28/07/2019 14:36

My son was on the last knocking of his a level project when my sewing machine broke. The only person I could think of who had one is my eccentric craft lady neighbour who I don't know that well.gad to go and ask her at 8pm. She was lovely. It was a complex beast to use.
My other neighbour and I donate things to each other rather than borrow them!😂

HotChocolateLover · 28/07/2019 14:36

At my old place my neighbour once came round to ask to borrow a can opener. Not that weird you would think but she was usually really nasty and abusive to me and I couldn’t believe she actually had the nerve. I just meekly handed it over as I was scared she’d be even more mean to me 🤦‍♀️😩 To
be fair, she did bring it back the same day.

NannaNoodleman · 28/07/2019 14:37

There's a constant food swap going on round here... eggs appear to be the easiest to move, cat food is always being passed around, ciders, BBQ food at the minute... I've borrowed my ndn's pie dishes so much so just tells me "you know where they are" when I ask Grin

WorraLiberty · 28/07/2019 14:38

we live in a block of flats so she stuck them in the lift and sent it up to me

Brilliant! Grin

3boysandabump · 28/07/2019 14:38

We're always sharing stuff round here. Eggs are a common one and I always forget gravy granules so borrow that a lot.

I say borrow but we never expect things like that returned.

Ihopeyourcakeisshit · 28/07/2019 14:38

I went to my local pub this week to ask for a lemon I needed.
Me and my neighbour are always borrowing stuff from each other.

3boysandabump · 28/07/2019 14:39

@NannaNoodleman I borrowed cake tins from my neighbour so often she bought me my own in the sales 😂

NannaNoodleman · 28/07/2019 14:39

When we first moved in down here, we found a small bag of chillies in our letter box. We weren't sure if it was friendly gesture or a threat for a number of days Grin

NannaNoodleman · 28/07/2019 14:40

@3boysandabump oooooh maybe if I keep borrowing them I'll get some of my own for Christmas Grin

bakebakebake · 28/07/2019 14:44

I've had one neighbour ask to use my oven when hers broke mid roast dinner 😂

MissClareRemembers · 28/07/2019 14:46

My previous neighbour once asked to defrost a slice of bread in our microwave.

It was rather companionable, the two of us just stood there watching a slice of wholegrain going round and round in the microwave.

littlemeitslyn · 28/07/2019 14:49

What on earth does 'borrow her' mean!!!??!

MissClareRemembers · 28/07/2019 14:52

@littlemeitslyn it means “to lend”.

FreddiesMammy · 28/07/2019 14:57

My neighbours borrow our sugar/tea bags all the time. We also borrow garden equipment. I once had forgot the shampoo in the shopping and she borrowed me some of hers

anitagreen · 28/07/2019 15:00

@HennyPennyHorror that's a step too far I think it's the thought of what is she doing with them that's does it lol. We are all good round here we've got a paddling pool that we share out to each other and a bbq no point us all buying one each saves money too!

Shockers · 28/07/2019 15:00

I put out a fb request for a missing ingredient one Christmas morning and someone a few streets away came round with it!

anitagreen · 28/07/2019 15:02

Ooh we also got given a bottle of beefeaters strawberry gin the other day for nothing that was really nice

GiggleMcDimples · 28/07/2019 15:14

We have great neighbours and borrow things off each other all the time.
Next door one side regularly borrows my cake tins.
We have given and had milk, washing powder, dishwashing tablets, etc. Sewing needles. Birthday candles lmao. They're all fab up here.

ithinkiammelting · 28/07/2019 15:22

I borrowed an onion from NDN once.

hugoagogo · 28/07/2019 15:30

A young man came round wanting to borrow a cup of sugar when I was a student, twas an obvious ploy. which worked Grin

AllGoodDogs · 28/07/2019 15:35

Good neighbours are priceless. I'm forever at the garden fence passing things to and fro. Usually it's last minute things for dinner that we've forgotten (bolognese sauce, an egg etc), but the latest was 2 goldfish in a washing up bowl 😂😂

Goforitgirl · 28/07/2019 15:47

Aww I love this!! When do you know you’re at the borrowing stage in your neighbourly relationship? I’d never want to make the first move.
