Things that used to fill you with horror that you now like?

DH has just suggested that we go to the garden centre 'for a wander and a scone'. Now, 15 or so years ago I would have scoffed in his face had he even suggested such a thing but now I find the idea of a walk round the begonias, looking at overpriced garden acoutrements followed by a scone very agreeable.

We also had a conversation about whether cheese scones are better than fruit scones (we can't agree on this at all).

Is there any fucking hope at all or is this the start of the slippery slope? Anyone else?

Cycling- used to scare me but I’m now a bit more confident and actually enjoy parts of my rides.

ChangingStates · 27/07/2019 17:00

Driving the scenic route!

PivotPivotPivottt · 27/07/2019 17:01

Cats. Couldn't understand why anyone would want one. Just got my second kitten on Monday. I am often seen sitting in the garden clapping the neighbours' cats.

BollocksIsTheWord · 27/07/2019 17:03

Spiders!
Finally after 17 years of living alone (well, with a DD who also hated them!) I have finally made my peace with them.

I have to move them I have no choice. I even went to an experience thing and held a tarantula. Funnily enough, I barely see any now- it seemed when I was terrified of them they were everywhere, lurking in every corner and loitering in every room!

I used to be most pissed off if I didn't have plans for a Friday night. Now I'm pissed off if I do. 😂

Quiet weekends at home without plans. DH and I are both 30. I asked him last night if we were old as we were curled up on the sofa with a glass of red wine watching DIY SOS and couldn’t have been happier. We decided we like the simple life.

I also enjoy cleaning and tidying. I get a lot of pleasure looking at my tidy home. Teenage me couldn’t have thought of anything more boring.

Soup

ExpletiveDelighted · 27/07/2019 17:10

Going to the pub, having a couple of glasses of wine and then ordering a cup of tea.

Staying sober and driving home from a party rather than getting pissed and sleep on the floor.

Poodles

PersianStar · 27/07/2019 17:12

Countryfile followed by antiques roadshow on a Sunday evening with a glass of red wine and the DP
All things 20 year old me would’ve laughed at whilst in the pub with a pint bought by whichever boyfriend was current that month Hmm

A friend and I went on a city break to Barcelona last year. It was beautiful and after our meal every night we said (while planning the trip) that we would visit the local bars and try different cocktails each night. It reality, after our meal every night we sat on our balcony drinking tea, eating ginger nuts and people watching. It was bloody great.

heidbuttsupper · 27/07/2019 17:16

Oh me too @Crunchymum couldn't stand red wine now I love it!

MrsMozartMkII · 27/07/2019 17:20

Next you'll be wearing brogues OP, and weighing up the merits of Ovaltine over hot chocolate.

kalinkafoxtrot45 · 27/07/2019 17:24

Gardening
Watching birds
A nice quiet night in

vampirethriller · 27/07/2019 17:25

I've always liked a garden centre and scone! 20 years ago, sensible shoes would have filled me with despair. Now I would wear my walking boots everywhere if I could.
And peanut butter- hated it passionately until I was pregnant and now I love it.

Babies, toddlers, children in general really used to fill me with complete horror.
Now I actually have one they are alright, although it's still really only my own I like so maybe that hasn't changed massively.

Sitting on my settee with no stimulation from anything, just sitting quietly. I used to absolutely hate not actually doing something ...anything so long as I was on the go or actively doing something. Now I can just sit for at least 5 mins before I'm bored and have to get up.

AwkwardSquad · 27/07/2019 17:36

Garden centres, random chats and beetroot. Silence.

AwkwardSquad · 27/07/2019 17:38

Oh and teetotalism

ExpletiveDelighted · 27/07/2019 17:40

Birkenstocks.

wichitalinemanswoman · 27/07/2019 17:41

Love Island 👍🏻

WingBingo · 27/07/2019 17:41

Had an impromptu child free day today. Would normally not miss the chance for a boozy lunch with DH.

Instead we went to a tiny quayside village and looked around charity shops.

DisgraceToTheYChromosome · 27/07/2019 17:42

Yeah, teetotalism. I simply can't work out why drowning my brain cells then spending the following day in nauseous gloom seemed like such a good idea.

swampytiggaa · 27/07/2019 17:46

Running. Would have thought it the last type of exercise I would ever take. I now run several times a week and am training for my third half marathon 🙂 my 20 year old self would be horrified.
