What was your first holiday without your parents?

The first one when I was 11 on PGL

The proper hoilday was Greece when I was 18

Amsterdam when I was 18

Excluding school trips, a weekend in Brighton the summer after A levels with my three best friends. We stayed in an utterly shit B&B and went out to a terrible club, where we pulled some horrific men and then ran away from them via a children's play park and the beach, where someone tried to sell us drugs and we were too uncool to say yes. Happy days!

I used to travel abroad alone from age 14 to spend a few weeks with family friends. My son is 15 and went to Spain this summer with his girlfriend and her father. My friends in America have been sending their child to residential camp every summer for six weeks since she was 7.

Age 19 after my first year of university i went to Spain with friends (7 girls, 3 guys) for the whole summer! 9 weeks of bliss! We planned on working but we didn’t 🤣🤣🤣 probably the only time I didn’t work as a teen/young adult.

But actually that wasn’t the first time it was when I went to visit relatives in America for the summer and I flew o etc by myself at age 14

I didnt do any school trips so the first holiday without family was 16 to Magaluf... cant see me letting DD do that!

My parents didn't do holidays, so the first time I went away apart from guide camp was a weekend in Normandy with my then boyfriend and his parents when I was 19

itsquid did exactly the same with my friend when we were 18, we are both over 60 now & recently reminisced about our mad trip to Brighton .

Ibiza, 1993 with my bad. First time abroad and I really didn’t sleep much for a week.

My bad? My Best friend.....

Think I was 14, and it was camping in England. Then at 16 my first trip abroad (without parents/adults).

A friend and I got the ferry and stayed in Cherbourg for the weekend when we were 15. I have no idea why 😁 I remember little about Cherbourg except that it had two gay bars and both were closed, and it rained really hard on day when we were walking around and the dye from my skirt ran and stained my legs purple.

First proper holiday was Moscow and Saint Petersburg at 16 with a group of friends. Was awesome.

Dh (then boyfriend) and I went to Kalymnos in Greece. Think we were about 21/22y. It was first time I've ever been abroad.

Ibiza with Club 18-30. Twas crap.

Two weeks allocation on arrival in Tenerife aged 17 with my then bf (now DH)

£660 each, there was no cutlery or cups in the kitchen so we spent two weeks drinking lethal pre drinks cocktails out of cereal bowls

Dassia, Corfu with my best friend aged 18. We were two sensible girls that went wild! Then returned the following year for more of the same. Our parents would have been horrified.

PGL every year from 12-17.
After that, two weeks in Tenerife after 6th form, 8 of us went on 18-30's and had a brilliant time.

Not counting pack holiday, I went to the French Alps with a local charity for disabled children three times. I must have been 14 the last time (I missed the last week of year 9 to go).
Otherwise my first holiday with no responsible adult was Tenerife with a friend after my first year at uni.

Caravan holiday in north wales with my bf! Not exactly Ibiza!

First abroad was a week in Malta. It got better after that and I’ve been to Kenya, Dom rep, Spain, lanzarote.

This year it’s a caravan holiday with my dd, mum and dad. Oh how life turns full circle. Doubt I’ll get abroad again for a fair few years.

I was 17, went to Majorca with friends, slept with 5 different guys, got horribly sunburnt, had a fight... .hideous young me!

Technically speaking, school trip to a holiday adventure place at aged 10. ‘Proper’ holiday was with now DH at aged 17 to Benidorm.

Italy age 17. Picked wrong resort, lots small "local" bars but maybe TWO nightclubs (wondered why the hol was bargaineemooos!) so next hol (at near enough age 18) was Spain, Lloret de Mar (fab-u-loso night life!!!!) and just a perfect holiday all round eg champagne fountains, rum cocktails, Spanish beer, beach not far, hotel was 3 star but was far more like 4 star....... Next was Ibiza (preferred Lloret nightlife as no drugs "pressure"). Resort - San Antonio .....no nearby beach as hotel was (if you face the sea straight on) to the far left up the slope. Entailed a taxi to the beach in those days. Could only afford to go there n back twice but luckily the hotel swimming pool/area was great. Came back with (remember these?!) @ 6 lovebites worn slightly proudly, oh dear!
