Poor little bugger was knackered on our picnic table so I gave it some sugar water and it's revived! Halo

Good for you op

TessTackle · 23/07/2019 19:32

I saved a bee from the sea (in my bikini top) on holiday this June..
DP thought I was insane but he -the bee- drank some juice & flew off merrily Grin

Well done op!

sittingonacornflake · 23/07/2019 19:35

Yaaaaaay

margotsdevil · 23/07/2019 23:24

I saved one too a few weeks ago, was so pleased to have helped the wee fellow! Sugar water on kitchen paper towel and then he moved to a spoon then buzzed off Smile

Mollypolly2610 · 23/07/2019 23:38

Saved 2 so far. Feel so sorry for them.

WouldYouLikeAnOmlette · 23/07/2019 23:43

Well done you. The silly fuckers keep drowning in various water thingies in my garden. Keep trying to save the buggers but they are completely dead. Sad Makes me feel so guilty, we need bees. Feels like one more thing to have to worry about Grin

Bringmewineandcake · 23/07/2019 23:44

I tried to save one the other day but no matter where I put the spoon it walked off in the opposite direction. Stupid bee.

BeardedMum · 23/07/2019 23:48

What should you out out in the garden to save bees in this heat?

DramaAlpaca · 23/07/2019 23:52

I saved one that had fallen into the pond last week. It was clinging to a leaf, poor thing. I fished it out, offered it some sugar water (which it ignored) & watched it shake the water off itself until it was eventually dried out enough to fly away. It felt really good to rescue one.

CeriseSky · 23/07/2019 23:53

@Bringmewineandcake I find pouring the sugar water on the ground in front of them wherever they move works. Once they have a little river of sugar water around them they usually cotton on and drink it. One time it was virtually a sugar moat around the poor wee thing before she realised!

Crunchymum · 24/07/2019 00:17

The bee looks a picture of health Grin

HeadintheiClouds · 24/07/2019 00:18

Aw, bless him Grin

FurrySlipperBoots · 24/07/2019 00:19

Awwwww, I love bees! It's very satisfying reviving them. It's insane how long their tongues are isn't it!

boatyardblues · 24/07/2019 00:21

I revived a weary bumble bee with a drop of maple syrup once. I dripped it on the windowsill right in front of it, as another OP said.

boatyardblues · 24/07/2019 00:22

I was relaxing in a swimming pool on holiday once and watched a butterfly come and drink from the pool. That had an insanely long tongue too.

This is such a lovely thread! Especially with all the worrying things happening in the world at the moment.

Bee at peace everyone! 🐝

Deathraystare · 24/07/2019 11:11

My Aunt has saved a bee too (long time ago).

DramaAlpaca · 24/07/2019 13:52

DS has just saved another bee, it was on the kitchen floor looking sorry for itself. Flown off happily now.

HeadintheiClouds · 24/07/2019 13:55

Loving the bee tales Grin

Soubriquet · 24/07/2019 14:06

I saved a honey bee out the pool yesterday and after a shake it was fine and flew off.

The other week there was a fat bumble bee on the floor struggling to lift. I was out on a dog walk so had nothing for it but I picked it up on a leaf and let it get the air under it’s wings and with that off it buzzed.

I love my children’s school. It has a huge patch of lavender around the office to attract the bees aswell as a bee garden in the veg patch

We need a name for lovely people who rescue bees!

I wondered about beescuers, but it's too much like bee skewers.

Outofexcuses · 24/07/2019 14:15

Beefrienders?

HeadintheiClouds · 24/07/2019 14:16

Beefrienders is perfect!
