Poor little bugger was knackered on our picnic table so I gave it some sugar water and it's revived! Halo

Walking round local NT gardens today saw two bumblebees mating....we averted our eyes and walked off quickly.

Me too just a minute ago. It was sitting on a window inside and wouldn't move. Bit of sugar water and a lift outside and she perked right up.

I grew a massive patch of wildflowers this year and the bees love them. Bees can travel something like 6 miles from their hive but wasps only 200m.

I saved a bee once...bee was staggering around on the windowsill and we didn't have any sugar to add to water however I did have some Sprite (the full sugar kind). Which wasn't ideal but I thought would do in extremis. Bee lapped up loads of it (we kept offering a bit more and more and bee kept taking it), perked up, did what appeared to be a big wee, and then flew off at speed Grin

A few times in the past I've seen bee struggling when I haven't got anything to give them and feel really bad so I have now taken to carrying around one of the little soy sauce fish type things you get in packs of supermarket sushi filled with sugar water always have a drink for them whenever I'm out 🐝

This made me laugh - no doubt in gratitude the bees will name their offspring after you Grin

I saved one yesterday . It was drowning in water play table . . I put it in the sun and dried off and flew away

BlackAmericanoNoSugar · 24/07/2019 16:24

I saved one two days ago. It was in my front garden trying to fly away from a rose but couldn’t. It had caught itself on a spider web so I broke the bit of spider silk and off it flew.
