My husband ate a sweet he found in our daughter's car. He feels extremely disorientated and unwell now. It m ay not be linked at all, but we have suddenly thought could the sweet have actually been a drug? Totally shocked, praying it isn't. Does anyone recognise these? Thanks so much.

It looks like popping candy to me. But I don’t know what crack looks like. Keeping class A drugs in your car seems a bit odd though.

Asleep or slipped into a coma ? Why aren't you phoning her ?

Drugs can look so diff. It looks like it could be sweets. Hard to tell though.

The taste is key here. Did it taste like a sweet?

Phone and say he ate a sweet and now you think he is having an allergic reaction to ot and what kind is it?

Maybe facetime her so can see reaction

Looks like crack but then also like dried pineapple.

Taste wise he'd know if it was MDMA because it would have tasted fucking rank.

If you're worried then can't you contact her now? She's away but presumably contactable?

Hope you get it sorted!

MDMA could never taste like a sweet Grin

They too regularly/smoothly shaped for crack I reckon. They look like lumps of old cheese to me but can't think of a reason anyone would be carrying some bits of cheese around in their glovebox

What was the consistency like to eat? Chewy? Like chalk? Broke into a powder?
Drugs taste very chemically

God you pair of loons. Him for eating it, you for not phoning your daughter to find out what it is. Whilst your husband slips into a crack coma upstairs ....

The spoon was a teaspoon btw. Honestly, we have no reason on earth to even think for a moment she may take drugs, but I was trying to be sure before we rocked up at hospital over a sweet. Thanks for the help so far. It was hard not powdery or crumbly. He's dozing, not comatose. I will ring her now to ask her.

You need to be prepared for what? Surely the priority at this moment is your husband??

Exactly. If she says ‘fuck, he just ate some crack’ then you deal with him first and ask her what the fuck when he’s ok.

You know I teach reception and spend a large amount of my day telling children to stop putting random shit in their mouths or stop licking their shoes. I often wondered what happens to those kids when they grow up.

I suspect something like stem ginger. You really need to phone your daughter - not least because, if what your husband ate was innocuous, he may need to be checked out to see what is actually causing him to feel unwell.

You’re having a laugh, aren’t you, op? You’re not going go ask your daughter until tomorrow evening because you need to prepare for the worst Grin

Yeah, first port of call, ask Mumsnet. It's not like people have mobile phones or anything these days where you could ask the source immediately...

If its crack, and it looks like it, he will have a worse reaction as he has not built up a tolerance like a user would. You have to contact her now, or go to A&E. That's your choices really. Or wait till morning and poke him to see if he's still with you.

DinoEggz · 18/07/2019 21:34

Most dealers don’t bother to flavour their drugs with aniseed. It’s probably a sweet. Why don’t you just ring your daughter though?!

Echoing @DishingOutDone

If it is a drug, he'll have no tolerance unlike a chronic user.
Whilst the amount ingested maybe ok for a familiar user, it could be fatal for him.

Go to A&E or call 111 ffs. He's eaten an unidentifiable substance and feels ill.
What would you do if it was a child? Or yourself?

Unless you want the risk that he'll be laying cold next to you tomorrow morning.
