I'm tempted to say Devon but there's so many wonderful places out there and so many I haven't visited. I love Yorkshire too. What's your nomination?

Frith2013 · 16/07/2019 16:37

I’m going to say Herefordshire, purely because no one ever comes here!

And it is very nice.

Yorkshire hands down.

DogbertDogglesworth · 16/07/2019 16:43

@Avalanching.

It's got everything really.
Fantastic scenery and walks on the north York moors and dales as well as the peak district.
Seaside resorts, Whitby, Scarborough and Bridlington etc.
Major cities such as Leeds and Bradford for shopping, along with smaller towns l Wakefield, Barnsley and of course historical towns like Harrogate, York, Skipton etc.
Good transport links, both road and rail.
And of course smashing people and the best pork pies.
It's cheap too.
I once wrote a story about Yorkshire which was well received ( preens )

LoveGrowsWhere · 16/07/2019 16:43

Yorkshire has something for everyone.
Yorkshire Dales of James Herriot
Yorkshire Moors of Bronte sisters
Yorkshire Wolds as loved by Hockney
Coast
Roman York
City life of Leeds etc

I would be hard pushed to choose between Devon, Northumberland, Cumbria and Yorkshire. Sadly I don't live in any of them!

IggyAce · 16/07/2019 16:46

Northumberland for me

Whichouse · 16/07/2019 16:47

Cumbria

MoobaaMoobaa · 16/07/2019 16:47

I hear Yorkshire a lot, I've never been, what makes it special

The people, the size of it, the different landscapes, just about every sort of landscape you find in the UK, can also be all found anywhere in Yorkshire.

Jurassic coast? check
moors? check
hilly/mountains? check
Flatlands? check
wolds? check
steep little fishing villages clinging the cliffs? check
ect
The 4 counties have very different feels yo them, too so if you are not keen one just try another, Although north Yorkshire is that big you forget that somewhere like Selby is in the same county as Whitby and Malham.

yearinyearout · 16/07/2019 16:49

Pineappleseahorse the coastline is incredible. Such beautiful unspoilt, uncrowded beaches. I've never seen beaches in the uk so clean either, we were there for a week and I didn't see so much as a bottle top or a cigarette end on any of the beaches.
Add to that the magnificent castles, lovely pubs and friendly people, it's a wonderful place to visit.

TheFaerieQueene · 16/07/2019 16:49

Oxfordshire
