I need some new ideas and inspiration. What are your best Aldi items you've found recently? Food-wise.

OP posts:
Pinkyponkcustard · 15/07/2019 14:37

The chocolate with pretzel pieces in it!

BIWI · 15/07/2019 14:42

Great cheddar! A vintage Scottish one is particularly good. And their Specially Selected Parmesan is fab.

Their Specially Selected ground coffee range is great (and really good value at £1.79 a bag)

And don't forget about their gin - only £9.99 a bottle, and it's award-winning gin

AtleastitsnotMonday · 15/07/2019 14:44

Marinated chicken breasts with nigella seeds
Beetroot and mint dip
Sparkling elderflower water
Raspberry sorbet

YessicaHaircut · 15/07/2019 14:44

Frozen asparagus and gruyere parcels
Vintage cheddar and caramelised onion quiche
Thai green curry kit
The fajita kit is the best I’ve found for the price.

Itellpeopletogoogleit · 15/07/2019 14:48

0% fat authentic Greek yogurt is amaaaaaaaazing

Baboutheocelot · 15/07/2019 14:50

Peanut and choc chip brownie bars

MotherWol · 15/07/2019 14:50

Their knock-off Nakd bars, the pecan ones are very good.
Natural peanut butter - no palm oil!
The frozen butternut squash risotto
Brioche burger buns
German bratwurst and frikadellen (actually all of the German meats)
Mamia wipes in handbag-sized packs

ThereWillBeAdequateFood · 15/07/2019 14:52

Their chocolate is great. Also one of their gins (I think it’s a 50cl Black Forest gin) is lovely.

Wellhellojonsnow · 15/07/2019 14:53

Frozen whole sea bass

Tear and share chocolate brioche 🤤

BBQ ribs and crispy duck pancakes are good for lazy Friday night meals. So tasty (& cheap)!

LutherRalph1 · 15/07/2019 14:54

Trash but their groovy bars are like the old smarties you used to get 😍

TheDuchessofDukeStreet · 15/07/2019 14:57

I’m off there tonight, will try the cheese and the raspberry sorbet, thank you! I second the flavoured sparkling waters. Their Snack Rite crisps are very good, I can’t tell the difference between those and Walkers, both the plain and the salt and vinegar. Their knock off pringles are good too. I find their meat good both cooked and fresh.

mommybear1 · 15/07/2019 14:57

Where to start!!!

Their Thai fish cakes are amazing
The fake pringles are better than pringles
Their gin is excellent Grin
Baby wipes are great
Baby snacks great
Salted butter
Greek yoghurt
All of the cheeses I've tried from there have been great - Red Leicester and Mature Chedder being favourites
They do a great soy, chilli sauce which goes with everything
Their versions of kit kat/blue riband and penguin bars are no different imo
They do some lovely crackers - sea salt/black pepper/ rosemary - delicious 😋
The Bloomer bread is award winning and lovely
Their American Hot pizzas are good as are the stone baked ones

I could keep boring you so I'll leave it there 😂

Stillstrawberrywater · 15/07/2019 14:57

TooOldForThisWhoCares · 15/07/2019 15:00

The frozen halloumi fries.
Organic cacao powder - good for milkshakes & loads cheaper than anywhere else.
The "posh" hand wash which is 79p

motorcyclenumptiness · 15/07/2019 15:17

Sunflower rye bread, king cherries, stir-in pasta sauce, Moser Roth dark chocolate, rustic-y crispbread things, baking ingredients (esp brown sugars).

Sorryisntgoodenough · 15/07/2019 15:21

Fantastic steaks -ribeye is especially good.
Best tasty whole (cook in the bag) chicken
All the meat tbh, mostly British and nice quality.
Frozen blueberries
Greek yogurt
Gammon joints to make home baked ham are nice and not too salty.
Mini magnum style ice creams.
The bags of cake mix that you just add oil and water to are pretty good. The chocolate one is nice and rich and good for emergency school cake bakes (that you get told about at 9pm when they are due the next morning)

fufulina · 15/07/2019 15:28

If you have a Nespresso machine, the coffee pods are great. Ristretto.

SoupDragon · 15/07/2019 15:33

Their "Red Fox" Red Leicester cheese is lovely.
The chocolate brownie "magnums" are amazing.
DCs said the frozen calamari was good.
The Pear and Freesia diffuser is lovely.

Halloumi fries are rank. Which is why these threads are often pointless as people have such different tastes 😂

SoupDragon · 15/07/2019 15:33

The frozen berry mix is great for making "overnight oats" for breakfast.

Awwlookatmybabyspider · 15/07/2019 15:43

30p Chocolate bars. (Milk Dark and White)
Aldi doritos
Humous.
Aldi sausage 12 for £1.09.
I love Aldi. You can't fault it.

Prettypetal85 · 15/07/2019 15:53

LOVE Aldi (just a shame my local one is crazy busy and a bit of an ordeal to shop there)! Favourites are:

-Frozen large raw prawns - stay so juicy and plump when cooked

  • The ‘posh’ curry sauces with the spice powder on top. Especially the butter chicken one
  • Greek yoghurt - we get the full fat one because the baby has it
  • Baby wipes are great
  • Buck’s Fizz in a can was lovely for a picnic on a hot day
  • The 8 bag of croissants is really good value and they’re nice when heated in the oven
Seemstress · 15/07/2019 16:43

Passionfruit Gin... I've cleared the shelves in my local 😂😂

RollOnSummerBreak · 15/07/2019 16:53

We like the family steak pie when cba to Make one.
Cheeses
Nappies and wipes.
Crisps.
Their pizzas are good to keep in freezer too.

Merryme · 15/07/2019 16:57

The microwave chana masala/ spiced chickpeas are gorgeous with a spoonful of mango chutney and lime pickle

Greenteandchives · 15/07/2019 16:59

Butternut Squash burgers
Beetroot burgers
Yogurt
Wine
Flatbreads
Naked fish cakes
Low fat meatballs.
