A picture has appeared under my bed. Neither me or DH think it's ours. Wtf?

We're moving house. DH said to me, what do you want to do with the pictures under the bed?
I had no idea what he was on about. I never put pictures under the bed.

Sure enough, 7am this morning he drags out two dusty old frames from under the bed. I've never seen them in my life. One of them had a charcoal drawing of a woman called Rachel.
I've never clapped eyes on it before.

DH says they aren't his. He thinks I've lost my marbles and have a shit memory.

But I swear I've never seen them before. The picture was made in '92. I was 10.

How the fuck did they get there?!

When I moved in 5 years ago there were no pictures here. No other adults have stayed here and I know he kids wouldn't come up with massive frames with glass and a picture of a naked woman.

How did this happen?!

A similar thing happened to us recently - and we’re both still adamant it’s the other playing a prank. 😂
Anyways, I would say it was your husband.

In the bedroom.

Could you reach out to this John Lyton guy and ask him if he has a sales record on the images? Most artists keep history of first sales unless done by a gallery, but then there, fingers crossed, would be a paper trail too.

Rachel was the previous resident before the gutting. She is trying to come back to her 'home' after some tragic event. She does not realise she is dead and the only way she can manifest is via charcoal.

Or you have experienced a slip into another universe, one where everything is the same except you were given some pictures as a present, you didn't like them so put them under the bed.

Your 'twin' in the other universe is currently on other univers MN asking what happened to the pictures.

Yes. No.
Kind of.
We stored a fuck loads of stuff under the bed (we didn't have a loft) so whenever we got a new bed or moved the room around it would get a good clean.
And I never remember the pictures from then. But had I seen something stood up against the side, I wouldn't have thought anything of it and just assumed it was DH's.

I need to find out when he first discovered them.

DH couldnt be less arty if he tried. I've never known him to draw a line, even look at art or frames let alone a charcoal pic of Ray-Ray.

This is so the opposite of what DH would do.
That's what makes this so fricking weird.

DM: so I’ve just brought over those pictures great aunt Rachael wanted you to have

DH: yeah, whatever, sounds great.

DM: so I’ll just pop them somewhere out of the kids way then shall I?

DH: sure sounds good (instantly forgets conversation)

Is the bed frame second hand? Just wondering if Rachel was somehow wedged under there hidden from view?

Does your letting agent do unaccompanied inspections? Maybe they were gifted some awful artwork (sorry Rachel) and rather than get rid of it in a normal sensible way, decided to stash it under your bed? Confused

Have you ever had any large framed pictures in the flat? Rachel could have been lurking* behind whatever picture was there when you got it.

(*politely, I’m sure, she seems nice. If a bit oddly shaped.)
