A picture has appeared under my bed. Neither me or DH think it's ours. Wtf?

We're moving house. DH said to me, what do you want to do with the pictures under the bed?
I had no idea what he was on about. I never put pictures under the bed.

Sure enough, 7am this morning he drags out two dusty old frames from under the bed. I've never seen them in my life. One of them had a charcoal drawing of a woman called Rachel.
I've never clapped eyes on it before.

DH says they aren't his. He thinks I've lost my marbles and have a shit memory.

But I swear I've never seen them before. The picture was made in '92. I was 10.

How the fuck did they get there?!

When I moved in 5 years ago there were no pictures here. No other adults have stayed here and I know he kids wouldn't come up with massive frames with glass and a picture of a naked woman.

How did this happen?!

Haha @Soola!

maliafawn · 15/07/2019 20:48

Late to the party but totally remember the a ghost pushed my baby off a bed from bounty debates days!

allhalekale · 15/07/2019 20:51

This thread has amused and freaked me out in equal measure. Thanks OP it’s been my favourite for a while.

CorBlimeyGovenor · 15/07/2019 20:54

On a serious note, it can be dangerous to push a bed up against a wall to stop a baby from rolling out. It's because the bed can move slightly in the night and a gap open up. I did it a few times when co-sleeping and didn't realize that it is meant to be a bit of a no no.

FelicisNox · 15/07/2019 20:56

I bet it belongs to DH and he's using your bad memory as an excuse.

Just tell him that as they belong to neither of you they are going to the tip ASAP and see what his reaction is..... also mention how ugly they are and how the "artist" clearly has no artistic ability at all.

I'm so mean. 😁

WTFthatsweird · 15/07/2019 21:02

@Soola she? Me?

corBlimey I know don't worry. I plugged the gap.
When we move my bed is going into storage and just putting the mattress on the floor anyway until we are in our permanent place where I will be working hard to get ds out of my bed.

He has been taking art classes for years but was too embarassed to tell you.Instead of just telling you straight he thought he would plant pictures all over the house to lead you subtly to that conclusion.Does he have trouble talking, or using normal terms of communication in other ways? Does he leave a fork on the table when he wants to go out for a romantic dinner, for example?

Doidoit19 · 15/07/2019 21:24

I’ve just read the full thread without flicking to the end like I usually would and was hoping there would be an explanation! It’s definitely a weird one.

ChazsBrilliantAttitude · 15/07/2019 21:27

Somebody had stashed these under the collapsing ikea bed in a vain attempt to stop it collapsing and forgot to remove them when you bought the bed?

I think it should be called “The Unreachable Itch” because it looks like Rachel is contorting herself to try to scratch an itch on her shoulder blade.

purplepentagram · 15/07/2019 21:27

Some one needs to go back to the tip to find it and get it checked out.

dexter6000 · 15/07/2019 22:08

I could see the woman straight away - even sideways - so suspect as so many others couldn’t this is actually very clever art. Am sure the Tate Modern would have loved it in fact. They hold loads of other complete shite at least Hmm shame you have donated it to the seagulls- then again it might just get improved.

FlamedToACrisp · 15/07/2019 22:14

@Rachelover40

No point having an inquest over it, odd things do happen Are you MAD? We neeeeeed to know!!!

merlotqueen · 15/07/2019 22:16

You find something mysterious that intrigues you, it is a piece of art. You create a thread here then take it down the dump, not the charity shop, the dump? Bizarre decision.

Did you look at the back of the picture frame? to see if there was a love letter in there

Motoko · 15/07/2019 22:28

@Soola she? Me?

No. Soola was talking about the poster who said only a man would buy/draw a picture of a nude woman.

WTFthatsweird · 15/07/2019 22:34

Not a bizarre decision in the least.
We did a dump run and a charity shop run that day, and those frames were not in the least bit worthy of charity shops.
They were old, weak, fucked and dusty frames. They were dump-worthy and that was it.

I bought it up with dh again tonight who low agrees that it's weird. He thought about it for a minute then said "Well! I guess we'll never know!" As if that concluded it!

No! What the fuck?! I need to know!

I actually liked the theory that it came with the broken ones bed! That made sense until I remembered how weak and awful the frames were, and the sheet of glass.

@QOD

Omg that's such a creepy thing to say lol pure brilliance. Even the word skitter is freaky in itself!

QOD · 15/07/2019 22:56

@Jojowash she’s skittering around the dump tonight eyeing up her next victims
Mwah hahaaaaaa

Soola · 15/07/2019 22:56

Op, I didn’t mean you! There was someone on here who made a frankly quite ridiculous statement that it’s only men who buy nude artwork!

NorksofPlenty · 15/07/2019 23:05

This exact thing happened to us, except really bad watercolours of sunflowers. Turned out they were on the wall when we moved in 3 years before (with12 wk old dd and very sleep deprived) and we had taken them down straight away and relaxed with nicer art and blocked from memory until we looked through the inventory when moving out and went 'oh yea'! Without the inventory I swear we would never have remembered where they came from.

NorksofPlenty · 15/07/2019 23:06

*replaced not relaxed, there was nothing relaxing about moving house with a baby!

j3mz · 15/07/2019 23:23

Are you sure you never bought it from a charity shop thinking it was worth something and then forgot about it?

Speakercube · 15/07/2019 23:24

I wish someone would come in here and say its them and tell what the pictures meant to be! (only if it was them not anyobe just saying it. GrinHmm

WhatWouldTheNeighboursSay · 15/07/2019 23:24

*@urbanlife

Its his ex girlfriend or someone he had a crush on for years. Some weirdo did this to me when I was young. I called the police after he followed me to work and back for a month, and used to sit outside my office.*

OMG!
I think we know the same guy.
Went to stay over at a friend's after a night out.
When he said he'd drawn me and did I want to see? I was a bit Hmm .
Walked into bedroom and the wall was covered in sketches of how he imagined I looked naked. Circus boobs and all. Shock

Chocolate50 · 15/07/2019 23:32

Are you sure that the pics don't belong to your DH & for some reason he doesn't want to tell you who Rachel is??
