A picture has appeared under my bed. Neither me or DH think it's ours. Wtf?

We're moving house. DH said to me, what do you want to do with the pictures under the bed?
I had no idea what he was on about. I never put pictures under the bed.

Sure enough, 7am this morning he drags out two dusty old frames from under the bed. I've never seen them in my life. One of them had a charcoal drawing of a woman called Rachel.
I've never clapped eyes on it before.

DH says they aren't his. He thinks I've lost my marbles and have a shit memory.

But I swear I've never seen them before. The picture was made in '92. I was 10.

How the fuck did they get there?!

When I moved in 5 years ago there were no pictures here. No other adults have stayed here and I know he kids wouldn't come up with massive frames with glass and a picture of a naked woman.

How did this happen?!

What if it was worth a fortune?

BusterGonad · 15/07/2019 05:49

@CircleofWillis exactly why I commented on tipping it, it could've been by a famous artist etc

kirkandpetal · 15/07/2019 06:17

"You don't even want to think about the state of the floor under my washing machine. 🤢"

I think you should take a look.....perhaps and early portrait of Ross?

DarlingNikita · 15/07/2019 17:36

Wow. Weird. I've no suggestions, but I'm a little sad that it's been taken to the tip.

beckywiththecraphair · 15/07/2019 17:57

Maybe it was stuck to the underside of the bed? Do you remember who you bought the bed off? That's the only thing I can think of, that it was stuck to some part of it and has just fallen off when you're moving it

It's rotten though, it reminds me of that woman brushing her hair in the video in The Ring

hazell42 · 15/07/2019 17:59

I once bought a picture in a charity shop. A woman wandering across a field of flowers
When I got it home I saw that someone had written a message on the back - 'I will wait for you in heaven'.
I never did hang that picture on the wall

MuseThalia · 15/07/2019 17:59

That is creepy .. I can't see a girl either, just looks like some kind of a demonic creepy scribble, would make a good horror film :D Not helpful sorry. I don't know how it would have got there unless it has fallen out of a bag or something (if you have bags under your bed)

TanselleTooTall · 15/07/2019 18:04

The way I am, I'd have taken it to be seen over like in The Antique Road Show before chucking it. It doesn't look like much but lots of things don't look like much and they turn out to be the early/special/rare/fabled sketch of some famous artist or genius individual, priced at millions.

You missed a trick there. probably not

Soola · 15/07/2019 18:08

@TanselleTooTall unlikely given that we have all googled the artists signature and found no one.

CeCeDrake · 15/07/2019 18:09

Google the artist!

CeCeDrake · 15/07/2019 18:09

Ooooh whoops .. just ignore me!

ohhelloitsyou · 15/07/2019 18:12

I agree with Lofari...

DH has clearly got a dream of being a world renowned artist and has cleverly “found” this picture under the bed to see your reaction. He’s written a random name and date on to throw you in case the reaction is bad.
You’ve responded by asking what on earth it’s meant to be. DH, heartbroken, has pretended to know nothing of it and given up on his dream straight away. He’s got into his gym clothes, driven to a remote place to cry his heart out and has now come home to comfort eat bacon. He doesn’t want to talk about it. The dream is gone. Nobody could even figure out what way up it went.
That noise at nighttime isn’t the sound of a ghost who places weird pictures under your bed from 1992... it’s the sound of your DH soul being crushed under the judgement of his wife and mumsnet who assumed this was a naked woman when in actual fact it was a cat.

Watch3000 · 15/07/2019 18:15

This is one person behind another, first person has arm up on second persons shoulder.

tomatostottie · 15/07/2019 18:16

Was it just lying on the floor under the bed or was it sort of stuck underneath the slats somehow? I can imagine if it was attached to the bed frame in some way maybe no one would have noticed it for years.

But it could be DH's and he is embarrassed about it. John Lynton is a pseudonym.
You say DH isn't artistic - nor is the person who drew that - it's pretty horrific.

PenelopeChipShop · 15/07/2019 18:16

Just bin them. If they are back in the morning THEN get worried...

namechangedasscared · 15/07/2019 18:18

Nothing else to add but I REALLY want to know how this turns out! I hope you get an answer....

TanselleTooTall · 15/07/2019 18:19

Yeah, I know. Smile
I have the benefit of my area having a lovely row of antique shops and a couple of art shops, so I'd prefer to take it in rather than rely on Google. I'm a bit long winded in that sense!

Chocolateporridge · 15/07/2019 18:23

Was your bed second hand? Could they have been under the bed frame when you bought it and they've dropped down at some point?!

HappydaysArehere · 15/07/2019 18:24

Bet they came from a charity shop. Looks like an art class piece of work.

user27495824 · 15/07/2019 18:28

Have you ever air bnb'd your flat?

LucyEmma89 · 15/07/2019 18:30

I have no idea how that happened! But something very similar happened in our house. DPs parents came to visit and when they left I found a black shirt on the back of he sofa. They swear it isn’t theirs and I know it isn’t mine or DPs. Far too big to belong to either of us. Weirded me out for a while though tbh.

DesertSky · 15/07/2019 18:33

Maybe the landlady wanted somewhere to store them and put them under your bed thinking you wouldn’t discover them? Maybe the landlady is in fact Rachel?

tolerable · 15/07/2019 18:38

op-this has been so funny.i thank you.good luck in your new place x

FyEnwiYwLucy · 15/07/2019 18:41

I know a John Lynton 😳 don’t know how creative he is though

Saffy101 · 15/07/2019 18:43
