We have no food in the house and it's raining. I can't be bothered. Missing a meal will be good for them, right?

He just buys shite like spanners and 57 varieties of barbecue sauce

Yeah, mine does shit like that as well. What is it with the sauce?!

IHaveBrilloHair · 13/07/2019 17:11

I'm having either a sausage roll or a pot noodle, and its lovely and sunny here, I just cba to go out.

cantfindname · 13/07/2019 17:21

57 varieties of barbecue sauce

I had a cupboard turn out recently and had 9 really random sauces, all opened and only a tiny squeeze used. Tried them and all vile so binned them. OH was genuinely upset and has started buying a fresh collection... how long before I can bin these?

Do they have school dinners?
Surely they must have eaten yesterday, it’s not long till Monday.
Kids nowadays , entitled little snowflakes.

Sobeyondthehills · 13/07/2019 17:31

I was meant to go shopping today, but have felt shit all day.

So I was just debating whether cereal and jam sandwiches would be a sensible dinner

RubbingHimSourly · 13/07/2019 17:34

Off topic but freezer lucky dip brought back fond, fond memories of when the DC were small. We'd blindfold them and dangle them by their feet into the freezer (( like one of those grabber machines but human )) and whatever they scored they'd have for tea.

Not as evil as it sounds, it was the highlight of their week 😂😂😂

Rememberallball · 13/07/2019 17:35

Definitely freezer roulette!! Which is why, in a currently child free household (though I’m 28 weeks pregnant with twins), we will be having turkey unicorns one day this week!!

BarryBarryTaylor · 13/07/2019 17:35

My husband is addicted to buying condiments. We have smokey naga chilli, sweet chilli, hot pepper chilli, mango habanero chilli, scotch bonnet chilli, West Indian chilli, hot pepper sauce, on and on and on...

waterallday · 13/07/2019 17:37

I'm making pasta as I feel like shit and have no energy 👍🏻 at least it's wholewheat! 😂

No kids here but instead a very tired student.🙋🏻‍♀️

Make sure you learn from this and keep an emergency easy dinner in the kitchen: bag of frozen veg, bag of pasta & jar of sauce.

Good luck with the rain!Wink

Nacknick · 13/07/2019 17:42

Pizza here. No energy for anything else.

Disfordarkchocolate · 13/07/2019 17:44

He buys cheesecake!! That's a good reason to send him out, or to my house where he'd be appreciated.

Cakecrumbsinmybra · 13/07/2019 17:46

Am envious it’s raining! My garden really needs it!

caffeinebuzz · 13/07/2019 17:46

Send DH out to collect takeaway, via the shop for some cheesecake. Perfect Saturday night.

Failing that, prawns it is.

MonaLisaDoesntSmile · 13/07/2019 17:49

Any spiders around? Or ants? Extra protein!

fraxion · 13/07/2019 17:49

Not as evil as it sounds, it was the highlight of their week 😂😂😂

That's hilarious 😂

Another one with a cupboard full of weird and wonderful condiments courtesy of my husband.

MsMustDoBetter · 13/07/2019 17:50

Cheesecake for dinner sounds splendid.

SarahTancredi · 13/07/2019 17:52

Send the kids. Bloody lazy tikes lounging in their Jammies. Why cant they go to the shop?

Karigan195 · 13/07/2019 17:53

Grab some young nettle leaves, stock cubes and rice. But if garlic and you have a nettle risotto. Very healthy

timeandtimeagain42 · 13/07/2019 17:55

Just accept your dh offer and run with whatever he brings..... cheesecake is a healthy balanced meal isn't it? Hmm

anothernotherone · 13/07/2019 17:56

My kids are having rice pudding for dinner - actually we all are. Dc3's suggestion.

Its the meal planning that gets me - I have phases of doing a family meeting to meal plan on a Sunday afternoon and shipping for the ingredients in Monday and it's all splendid, but it always goes to pit because I work shifts and I'm studying so if I'm working or revising or essay writing or sleeping after a night shift on SundayI forget. Or if it's a taxi to football matches and other child commitments day.

So if anyone suggests a meal we actually have the ingredients for I cook it.

If dc1 or 2 suggest a meal we don't have the ingredients for and are willing to cook it I'll drive them to the shop. I won't drive and cook though. Nowhere delivers here either, we're miles from anywhere, hence driving to the shop - nearest one is 6 miles away unless you include a village shop/ bakery 3 miles which is only open 7am- 12 noon 4 days per week and closes for the entire school summer holiday...

RedRiverHog · 13/07/2019 17:57

More than one child? They can eat each other.

PickAChew · 13/07/2019 18:00

Put one of them in rags, give them a handful of change and send them to the chippy with a note.

We just took a nice walk back up from town, so DS1 could take photos of all the re-routed buses. We got to cunty hall and got soaked. I've sent DH to the chippy with a note and a handful of change.

anothernotherone · 13/07/2019 18:00

RubbingHimSourly GrinGrin you've made me wish my kids were small enough to do that, and I usually love how big and independent and surprising they are, but I don't think I could dangle even the littlest over a freezer any more Grin

mumwon · 13/07/2019 18:04

hmm what tins have you got? pineapple? Have you got mayonnaise or salad cream. tom puree? pasta? a few bits of lettuce leaves?
Ahem go '50's'60's style ish! mix salad cream/mayonnaise (which ever!) with dash of tom puree a few herbs bit of paprika cook pasta mix pineapple with prawns mix with sauce & paprika mix into pasta put alittle lettuce leave artistically on side & serve (if the dc 7 dh & you would eat this combination! (ds & dd use to ring me from uni with "I have this in my fridge what can I do?") alternatively do what my husband usually says "make a curry!" & serve with rice :)

jennymanara · 13/07/2019 18:08

I am currently reading French Children Don't Throw Food.
So you have to serve them a 4 course meal. Starter of vegetables when they are at their hungriest. Pasta with vegetables, a cheese course and then stewed apple for dessert. All washed down with water.
