These naked cyclist wankers

Wankers in the personality sense, not cycling and wanking obviously.

How are they not breaking the law?

It’s 95% men. Old men. I don’t get it.

Any other day of the week I strip off and cycle down the high street I can expect to be arrested

They do it en mass and it’s ok and just a laugh

@TrainWWYD on the assumption you are a woman, women cannot commit indent exposure, you might be arrested for a breach of the peace, but female nakedness per se is not a criminal offence.

However a little google will always give you the answer yo u seek - it isn't illegal

www.standard.co.uk/go/london/attractions/world-naked-bike-ride-london-2019-date-time-route-a4160131.html

Every year, the World Naked Bike Ride sees budding cyclists join together to protest oil dependency and car culture, as well as to shine a light on the vulnerability of cyclists.

It’s also a celebration of body freedom and positivity. Bikers can opt to ride clothes-free if they so wish, but body paint and fancy dress is also encouraged.
The World Naked Bike Ride is a global protest movement, with rides taking place in cities around the world. The London ride has a carnival-like vibe to it and tends to attract big crowds of cheering spectators.

The stripped-down event is completely legal, too. According to the Sexual Offences Act 2003, nudity is only illegal if it’s used to intentionally cause harassment, alarm or distress — which, of course, is not the nature of the London ride.

ForalltheSaints · 13/07/2019 11:48

MyOpinionIsValid has explained the legal position.

My opinion is that it is something that has run its course. The original idea as I understand it was that being naked was to draw attention as to how vulnerable cyclists (and indeed pedestrians are) because of our dependency on cars. A parallel I draw is with the PETA 'I'd rather be naked than wear fur' campaign.

A few years ago I went to a charity event on the same day as the London Naked Bike Ride. When walking back to get the tube home, I passed a large group of photographers at one point where the ride was to go past- all men it seemed. The couple I know who had taken part for several years have stopped doing so because too many men want to take photos of the young woman concerned, and one ended up on the internet.

I'm all for no clothes in spas/saunas, and have been to beaches without clothes on, so it's not a case of the nudity, just that the cause seems to have passed.

DontBiteTheBoobThatFeedsYou · 13/07/2019 11:49

The smell of those bike seats afterwards 🤢🤮🤢🤮

DontBiteTheBoobThatFeedsYou · 13/07/2019 11:50

Why did that link to MN bike seats for kids??

Soola · 13/07/2019 11:53

Given that many of the bikes being used are Boris Bikes, who is going to clean them afterwards?

JoxerGoesToStuttgart · 13/07/2019 11:53

Yuck.

Why does anyone want to be naked in public? Anyone who wants to force their nakedness on others has something wrong with them. It’s not normal to want to make others see you naked without their consent.

Al2O3 · 13/07/2019 13:49

Good point Soola

Fucking disgusting.

TrainWWYD · 13/07/2019 13:52

It’s absolutely forcing their nakedness on others. Nothing to do with bikes and car dependency at all anymore.

That naked hiker was arrested umpteen times. How did they prove he was trying to cause distress?

serenadoundy · 13/07/2019 13:55

It's totally not 95% men though, old or otherwise.

LordProfFekkoThePenguinPhD · 13/07/2019 13:57

Is that today? Thank Christ I have a migraine and am bed bound. Every bloody year I’m merrily going about my business then bang! A herd of flesh on wheels hurtles down the street.

It’s juts not nice.

BullBullBull · 13/07/2019 13:59

It’s only naked bodies. Who cares?

LittleLongDog · 13/07/2019 14:02

That was such a gross example of why the MN linky thing is a rubbish idea.

JoxerGoesToStuttgart · 13/07/2019 14:08

It’s only naked bodies. Who cares?

The law, on any other day of the year. Why are streakers at football matches arrested? Why can’t we go to Asda naked? It’s just naked bodies, right?

LordProfFekkoThePenguinPhD · 13/07/2019 14:09

My eyes care.

madcatladyforever · 13/07/2019 14:13

I'm a naturist and you wouldn't catch me on one of those rides, nobody wants to see that stuff on the high street.
I keep my naked sunbathing to naturist clubs behind very high walls and by their swimming pool and like minded people.
I think the seat on genitals aspect is rather horrible too.

Oldraver · 13/07/2019 14:23

I think the seat on genitals aspect is rather horrible too.

It's the arse sweat that bothers me

serenadoundy · 13/07/2019 14:26

I think the seat on genitals aspect is rather horrible too.

My 'genitals' would probably eat the seat Grin

MockerstheFeManist · 13/07/2019 14:37

Nadgers and bike saddles do not go well together at the best of times, never mind without barrier protection.

Naked motorbike ride would be much better, and with plenty of helmet jokes.

1forAll74 · 13/07/2019 14:58

I would mostly be amused by naked cyclists,as they all look quite ridiculous.I have a seen a few over the years, and usually they are pensioners. A few years ago, I saw a naked oldie man on a mobility scooter, I was on my way to the Coop at the time. I thought,oh no,I hope he isn't going shopping in the precinct like me.! People took photo's of him as he whizzed by and waved to them.

I heard him say to someone, that he was just giving his bits a blow through as it was a nice day. It was funny really, a bit like those old Carry On films !

AvocadosBeforeMortgages · 13/07/2019 16:06

It's a bit of fun, and not doing anyone any harm.

British eccentricity is a long tradition, as is peaceful protest. Live and let live.

JoxerGoesToStuttgart · 13/07/2019 17:48

What’s fun about being forced to see people’s genitalia whilst out with your children? I don’t see the fun. I do see the harm. It’s not amusing or funny. Even if it is “just” old men. That doesn’t make it any less forced or naked.

JoxerGoesToStuttgart · 13/07/2019 17:49

Seeing other people’s genitals should be a consensual activity on both parts.

LordProfFekkoThePenguinPhD · 13/07/2019 19:35

If you can’t see it on tv before the watershed then why do I get to see it on the streets in broad daylight!
