So I’ve always had a thing about my legs, it’s where I carry the most weight but from the side they look huge .., but I’d that normal?

I can grab some fat on it but it almost doesn’t seem like loads?

growlingbear · 08/07/2019 15:35

OP I have legs that shape (but bigger). When I was very slim (lowest end of healthy BMI) my legs still looked like that. It's just how some people are built. I exercised regularly, walked or biked everywhere and ate very very healthily. But my thighs just had that massive front curve. That look is celebrated in many cultures and ime men love it. In case it helps I have two friends who managed to flatten out that front curve by using Pilates machines. It was a really quick and noticeable difference.

@ItIsWhatItIsInnit - How did you gain weight doing cardio? I'm intrigued. TBH, I find it hard to tell the difference between cardio and HIIT - HIIT seems to be cardio but for shorter bursts of time. I'm currently doing Body Combat. Is that cardio? I seriously don;t need to gain weight!

MashedSpud · 08/07/2019 15:37

A rowing machine would fix that.

Also massage and exfoliation.

zafferana · 08/07/2019 15:38

Yes, it's fat. If you want to reduce it then you probably know that you need to eat less/more healthily and move more. I find a combination of cardio exercise and toning works best for me (a fellow pear-shaped woman who carries most of her weight on her bum and thighs). If you're pear-shaped then it can be hard to lose weight in this area - as I well know. It's the first place I gain and the last place that I lose from. The only time I've had slim-ish legs was when I lost a stone through extreme stress! However, a healthy diet, plenty of regular exercise, keeping sugar to a minimum and drinking plenty of water to flush out toxins helps.

@IamMummyhearmeROAR

A lot of these threads at the moment. Wish they’d all just get deleted.

You do know you can HIDE the threads right?

Why should they be deleted just because you don't want to see them? Confused

MouthFullofGum · 08/07/2019 15:38

Oh and thank you for the tip regarding lipodemia potentially I do have that ... don’t know how I’d find out though, I couldn’t afford to go private and I’d probably be put on a year waiting list for the nhs.

@Enclume

Ffs your leg looks perfectly feminine and normal for a specific body type.

WTF does that even mean? Confused

People saying you're fat would never say it to your face.

FGS, the OP has ASKED if her leg looks fat, and people are saying 'yes' if they think it does!!!

FWIW, yep the leg (and the OP) does look somewhat chubby, and the OP doesn't look thin, but she doesn't look THAT bad tbh! I see loads of people with that level of fat on their body. Not great, but not awful!

@FloofenHoofen and @MauritiusNext and @Oilyskinproblems just get off your high horse too. This is an anonymous forum FGS. You have no right to tell people how they should respond... Hmm

As @Soola said, most people want honest responses, even if they're a bit harsh. I put a bundle of weight on some years back (went from 10 to 14 stone after having kids..) And I struggled to lose the weight for a about 5 or 6 years. People telling me I looked 'FINE' really pissed me off. 14 stone, size 20, and 5 ft 4. No I did NOT look fine; I looked awful, and I was obese. Why say any different? Hmm

How old are you @MouthFullofGum and have you had kids?

Teddybear45 · 08/07/2019 15:40

the only thing that works for fatty legs is a calorie controlled diet combined with aerobic exercise and even then it may take ages to see results if you are pear shaped.

ItIsWhatItIsInnit · 08/07/2019 15:40

@growlingbear, I started going running 3 days a week, and it did nothing apart from make me hungry. I would be constantly starving and eat an extra 400-500 calories a day, whereas the running probably burnt 200. Also, I've read online that jogging/cardio wastes away your muscles as your body tries to "lean down", and the loss of muscle slows your metabolism.

A couple of years later I started doing weights (sometimes with a 10-15 minute cardio warm up) and a stone literally fell off in a few months. Didn't seem to get much hungrier either. I've stopped going to the gym no and have maintained that weight.

ItIsWhatItIsInnit · 08/07/2019 15:41

I quit the running after I spent a night throwing up/getting the shits after a half hour run and realising I was only getting bigger.

BeTheHokeyMan · 08/07/2019 15:44

I think you have lovely legs (and a great bum too if you don't mind me saying !)

My legs are huge heavy varicose vein covered monstrosites due to a lovely family trait all our legs end up like that from our midteens/ early twenties regardless of weight 😩 I'd love legs like yours

Soola · 08/07/2019 15:44

@bingbongnoise thank you.

It’s like when you have bad skin and people say you look fine, when you ruddy well know you don’t and would like some helpful replies about what worked for others or if they’ve heard of something you haven’t.

bingbongnoise · 08/07/2019 15:46

Annoys me too @Soola ... No need to be horrible, but be honest at least. And I think the OP was looking for that. Smile

pickleface · 08/07/2019 15:46

I think you have perfectly lovely curvy legs.

FloofenHoofen · 08/07/2019 15:46

bingbongnoise that's ironic you telling us to get off our high horse because we have no right to tell people how they should respond. Hmm maybe take a leaf out of your own book.

boringlyboring · 08/07/2019 15:54

See I have a small waist and almost flat stomach. And big thighs? I bet you look great.

I’m the opposite big belly, narrow thighs. Looks so disproportionate, even when I was a size 6-8, the inverted triangle shape just doesn’t go well with anything!

MargotsFlounceyBlouse · 08/07/2019 15:54

Hard to shift areas are a pain OP. End of the day the only way to shift stubborn fat is cutting down what's going in and increasing the exercise. Whatever you're doing, do more, basically, or accept your body the way it is. On the plus side you've got a great bum. Grin

Zoobluebabypink · 08/07/2019 15:56

It looks a bit odd OP like the thighs look fat but the calves don’t?

katseyes7 · 08/07/2019 16:00

l agree with the previous posters - it's not just about 'fat'. Even when l was seven and a half stone, l still had 'chunky' legs. Always have had. lt's just my body shape. Even then l struggled to get knee high boots to fit, and l'd have died rather than wear skinny jeans.

I have the same shaped legs (also larger upper arms). I wonder when you stand do you have 'soft' knees or do you lock your legs back? I bet it's the latter!

that25cUKHeatwaveof2019 · 08/07/2019 16:08

People saying you're fat would never say it to your face.

doesn't mean they don't think it though, people are generally not really honest to your face, even when you ask.

It's the same as asking people how old they think you are - past a certain age, they tend to subtract 10 years from their reply...

BuzzShitbagBobbly · 08/07/2019 16:09

Enclume "The wonder womany curve of the thigh suggests strong quads under there to me."

I have legs very similarly shaped to OP and I know its because my quads are massive. They bloody should be too, after the amount of work I've put them through.

However I also agree with EnidButton who said "I don't think posting this is a healthy thing to do. Get it removed OP. Why invite harsh criticism when you already feel bad about yourself."

This thread won't make you feel good about yourself, or change the shape of your legs. It'll just rip your esteem apart even further. And for what?

Lilymossflower · 08/07/2019 16:12

I think its normal tbh

progestermoan · 08/07/2019 16:12

Lovely skin tone and beautiful shaped legs. Yes you could probably lose some weight and they’d be near perfect legs

Nesssie · 08/07/2019 16:12

People saying you're fat would never say it to your face - no one is saying the OP is fat, they are saying that yes, that is fat on the thighs. Everyone has fat.
