BackforGood · 06/07/2019 00:52

Are you looking for 'naice' things like Tea at the Ritz, or adrenalin filled things like a skydive, or awe inspiring things like swim the Great Barrier Reef, or cheap / free things like watch the sunrise ?

Soola · 06/07/2019 00:57

Stroke a donkey. Even better, visit a donkey sanctuary and donate and then stroke them!

clpsmum · 06/07/2019 01:33

@BackforGood all of the above! Want a big variety of things but I don't have much imagination!!!

@Soola i was kicked by a donkey last year so not sure that will make it to the list! Although ya e a donation anyway

Ooh, I'd really like to do this. Joining for ideas. Seeing the northern lights is on my list.

How long do you have before 50, OP?

Myimaginarycathasfleas · 06/07/2019 01:49

Glastonbury. Obviously.

Swim with dolphins/ride an elephant
Sponsor a guide dog puppy
Learn sign language
Complete a 1000 piece puzzle

Loveislandaddict · 06/07/2019 07:08

I would think about what you really want to do rather a random list of ideas.

Ie. Have you ever wanted to see the Northern lights, see Madonna in concert (she’s touring), go to Glastonbury (suggestion shamelessly inspired by another thread), etc. Use this year to put those plans into action.

Loveislandaddict · 06/07/2019 07:08

Actually Glastonbury is 50 next yeR, seems a good place to celebrate your 50th!

BillywilliamV · 06/07/2019 07:10

Why before you’re 50?

I’m 55, can’t I play too?

YadiYadiYada · 06/07/2019 07:12

Zip world in Wales
A choice of thrilling experiences across 3 sites
www.zipworld.co.uk/

A Segway tour

Go Ape
goape.co.uk/

Hot air balloon ride

London stuff - London Eye, Arcellormittal slide, Climb the O2, Emirates cable car

AuntieStella · 06/07/2019 07:18

Why before you’re 50?

Each person can set their own landmark age (just like the National Trust did for children). There's nothing wrong with choosing a fairly young age, as OP has done. Or any age that has meaning to you. Once you're adult, it won't make any difference to the sorts of things people suggest for the list.

And of course you can decide you want a wish list 'just because'. There doesn't have to be a deadline at all, let alone a random birthday one

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 06/07/2019 07:34

Have a picnic at sunset somewhere beautiful
Get my nails done for the first time ever
Ditto eyebrows
Spend a night in a 'proper' luxury hotel
Find the perfect brown fountain pen ink
Ditto purple
Buy another Vivienne Westwood dress
Find my signature scent
Afternoon tea somewhere where the food just keeps coming!
Join a choir
Join a yoga class
Go back to Santorini but in low season
Go to Finland or Sweden or Iceland (not got time to fit all three in!)

BikeRunSki · 06/07/2019 07:39

Climb the 3 Peaks - Scafell Pike, Snowdon and Ben Nevis.
Or the Yorkshire equivalent, Ingleborough, Whernside and Pen y Ghent.

growlingbear · 06/07/2019 07:47

I love this sort of thing. Stuff I did that was worth doing, small and large:

Climb a tree
Visit a country you have always wanted to go to
Eat at a Michelin star restaurant (they are much cheaper for lunch)
go up in a hot air balloon
plant a herb garden
help out at a food bank for a year
meet up with an old friend from primary school
climb a mountain
go wild swimming
take up a new sport or fitness activity
do the London Prudential bike ride
run 5k
run a marathon
help run a local community festival
have eyebrows threaded
see your favourite band or musician live
go to the opera

KissingFr0gs92 · 06/07/2019 09:49

I've been fortunate to have completed lots on my list already. However, these are still on my to do list;

Visit Scily isles
Visit St Kilda
Visit Shetland/Orkney
Visit Australia/ Great barrier reef
Stay in a glamping tent
Complete a glass blowing course
Travel in a camper van for a year+
Visit India
Visit Antarctica
Swim or dive with seals
Drive cattle across land on a cowboy trail on horseback
Visit Yellowstone park
Work on a dinosaur dig
Sail on a tall ship
Book a castle & invite my friends to stay

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 06/07/2019 09:50

Very, very (VERY!) jealous about Antarctica.

KissingFr0gs92 · 06/07/2019 09:57

Have a look at www.bas.ac.uk

When I went to New Zealand, the airport was advertising trips to Antarctica
But it was not on my schedule of things to do that time
I believe that you can also get a boat from South America too

clpsmum · 06/07/2019 10:06

Got 7 years til I'm 50 so plenty of time!

OP posts:
clpsmum · 06/07/2019 10:10
