Restaurant posting full name and phone number of no shows online

Have just seen this on facebook after a customer didn't show up with their group to a small restaurant. So a large % of takings were lost. Restaurant have named them and posted their number and said they will do it for all future no shows.

Some people have posted advising caution doing this but they haven't taken it down.

I only follow them as they were previously on a chanel 4 programme ages ago.

Loads of people are really supportive of them doing this. Never seen this before, I'd it a thing?!

If it's a small restaurant I can understand it.

Perhaps asking for credit card details to be given would help when making a booking.and charging it for a no show.

Wtf! There could be a really good reason why those people didn’t show up.

I’d share the post as a warning to future customers that this is the attitude they have.

If I saw that they did this, I wouldn’t book a table there.

‘Punishing’ no shows in this way will not help their business!

Pretty rude to no show.

Although I do understand their frustration of course, they lost money.

Well, this is against the law. But I do support a credit card deposit for cancellations in less than 24 hours.

Someone has mentioned gdpr. They are in Spain. But owners are originally from just up the road from me so that is why I watched the prog/follow.

What’s the point in publishing the phone number though? So random members of the public can phone and harass them? That’s crap

I’ve heard of restaurants taking credit card details and charging if no show. Really it doesn’t take much to call up and cancel even if five minutes before reservation. Not sure I’d like my details posted but obviously it’s enough of an issue they feel the need for this drastic action.

Aren’t GDPR rules actual applicable in the whole of the EU? Being in Spain doesn’t exempt them.

I listened to a programme on Radio 4 about this. It changed my mind, and I can now understand why a restaurant (particularly a small one) would do this.

I see they haven’t actually posted the full number so they might just get away with it.

I just think that’s shocking, unprofessional behaviour. I wouldn’t go near the place because of this!
