Well, we rather had our hopes up that during his recent visit to London that he'd get a really special tour of the tower of London.

You could have just claimed that there was a mixup in some paperwork. We'd have understood, no problem.

It helps to keep in mind that George III was a bit of a nutter too. With a better King on the throne we'd probably still be in the commonwealth.

To celebrate we had bbq, am currently watching a small town parade and will go to the park later to watch the fireworks.

Re brexit, we're astonished that you've made such a hash of it. I'm preparing to send emergency parcels of food and medical supplies to my favorite MNers. DS will be at uni when it hits, so I'll have a room available for them if it gets that bad.

America would never have joined a transnational union to begin with, so most here would sympathize with the leavers.

We have survived under a bigger idiot than Boris. I think our president actually has less power than your PM, so that helps us.

The French are remembered fondly here for their military support in the American revolution. Seven French soldiers died of wounds in my town and my church has a memorial service for them once a year on the Sunday following the 4th of July. They were nursed in the original church building, which is still in use.
