I like cheez whiz, you guys still got that?
Id move there if it wasn’t for your fuck up of a medical system, and all the guns, I would definitely shoot someone probably myself

MissConductUS · 05/07/2019 01:12

After all we did for you, you have a party to celebrate breaking up with us.

Taxing our tea and send the Hessians really got things off on the wrong foot you know.

I'm glad. I've not long come back from the States and I'm planning my next trip.

If you'll be anywhere on the east coast PM me if you have any questions. I'm a New Yorker.

I like Americans too, my retirement plan is a rich Texan.

It's really hot in Texas. They way MN moans when the temperature hits 30 I'm not sure you'd like it there.

I like cheez whiz, you guys still got that?

OF COURSE we still have cheez whiz.

Varieties include:

Cheez Whiz
Cheez Whiz Light
Cheez Whiz Tex Mex
Salsa Con Queso
Cheez Whiz Italia
Cheez Whiz Bacon
Cheez Whiz Pimento

I don't own a gun and don't know anyone who does. I do, however, work in the health care system, so point taken there. For all of its faults we still see a lot of patients who fly in from the UK for specialized treatments in New York hospitals. One hospital I worked in had to add fish and chips to the patient menu.

Tigger365 · 05/07/2019 01:24

If you’re offering, I’ll take as many jars as you can send, actually, better make it light...watching the waistline lol

Your healthcare system would kill me, $4000 per month for just one of the drugs I take, I just don’t understand the thinking.

MissConductUS · 05/07/2019 01:48

Tigger you can get the regular Cheez whiz on the amazon UK site.

I'm on a very expensive drug too now, but I only need it once every 8 weeks. You wouldn't pay $4k per month for it here. Your insurer would negotiate a much lower price through a pharmacy benefit manager, and of that price you'd only have a copay amount of 10% or so.

Medical care here isn't quite as dystopian as the NHS or the Guardian would like you to believe.

As it's now almost dark I'm heading off to the fireworks but will check in later.

Happy Treason Day!

Im currently sheltering Americans who escaped the Fourth to stay here. I'm given to understand that your celebratory tank parade was only witnessed by the elite? Sounds tres North Korean.

For my part I've never experienced a country where the delightful people are so badly represented by their government. Such a mismatch.

Tigger365 · 05/07/2019 01:57

That price on 14 different meds though...ouch lol

Do have fun at the fireworks!! Have a hot dog for me 😊

origamiunicorn · 05/07/2019 07:20

I've just come back from New York. It was amazing! Were looking at Chicago and San Francisco at the moment.

PenguinsRabbits · 05/07/2019 09:55

Hope you had a lovely time at the fireworks.

It's 26C here today which is perfect for the cat but DS, DD and all find that too hot. We went on summer holiday to the north of Finland before (by the Artic) and DS said was the ideal temperature and complained that our Costa Rica holiday (26C) was so hot you couldn't stand up. Grin

Ooh bit late to the Independence party (fashionably so I like to think) - hope you had a lot of fun last night MissC Smile

ThighsRelief · 05/07/2019 10:49

I'm pitching myself at East Texans. I'm just not classy enough to fool anyone else.

MissConductUS · 05/07/2019 12:13

Not quite that bad. There was a ticketed VIP section by the Lincoln Memorial but the parade and fireworks were just as visible to anyone who wanted to just turn up on the vastly larger national mall. The only benefit to being in the ticketed section was that it got you closer to the orange tosser president to hear his surprisingly non-partisan speech. I think that now that he's in reelection mode he's starting to pay a bit more attention to not making quite such an arse of himself.

I've just come back from New York. It was amazing! Were looking at Chicago and San Francisco at the moment.

Thank you! We love our UK tourists in NYC. San Francisco has descended into an anarchy of hyper aggressive panhandlers, homeless people and property crime for reasons that are beyond the scope of this discussion. Chicago is a perfectly nice city, but may I suggest an alternative? Boston is a much more attractive, historic and manageable city with more culture and better museums. There are also more places to visit in the surrounding areas (Salem/Peabody, Cape Cod or Cape Ann, etc.) and fabulous seafood. It's a very easy flight from the UK. DS is attending Uni in the Boston area and I have loads of family up there so I know the area quite well if you want more information.

The fireworks were lovely and it wasn't that terribly hot yesterday, so a nice day to be out and about.

Thanks for stopping by Sassy! Smile

Never mind America my Grandma was born 110 years ago and my Uncle 83 years ago..My Gran was a bit meh at sharing her birthday

MissConductUS · 05/07/2019 16:37

So your Gran and your uncle were both born on the 4th of July? Perhaps the universe misplaced them by a few thousand miles. Smile

Do you have any rich Texans to offer me, I'm a bad wife but am happy to amuse myself.

MissConductUS · 05/07/2019 17:27

I had a rich Texan locked up in the basement but he seems to have escaped somehow. Probably bribed someone, the cheeky bugger.

Before you bag one for good, I'd suggest visiting or setting up a profile on a couple of on line dating sites and seeing what's out there. I'd suggest The Woodlands to use as your real or imaginary location. It's a v posh suburb of Houston.

en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Woodlands,_Texas

You'll have to copy and paste the link, the comma has made it non clickable.

Culturally, the American south is a bit different than the north, which you may or may not prefer. One bit of advice - do not refer to anyone in a former Confederate state (which includes Texas) as a Yank. It's short for Yankee (northerner) and a dire insult.

Two question for you, if I might. In what way do you see yourself as a bad wife, and why Texas? Wouldn't a rich New Yorker or Bostonian do as well? If you're a bad wife because you can't make a proper cuppa, no man here will care. You will have to learn how to make "sweet tea" though.

I've enjoyed the verses - keep them coming :-)

drsausage · 05/07/2019 18:00

I'd also recommend Boston over San Francisco to anyone who's visiting. I do love Chicago too.

ThighsRelief · 05/07/2019 18:05

I'm lazy and unwilling to compromise over the TV remote. For the right price I'd be willing to appear to change. I used to be married to an Illinoisan and I just think I should try another flavour now.

Why Texas? I need space and I want a gun and a ranch.

ThighsRelief · 05/07/2019 18:13

Ideally I'm looking for a man who doesn't understand me.

origamiunicorn · 06/07/2019 10:57

@MissConductUS I could talk anyone's head off who would listen about New York, the place, the people, just amazing and the accent is to die for.

That's funny you mention Boston. My DP has just come back from Washington with work and suggested that and/or Boston as our next trip. I've had a search and it looks right up our street. Flights are fairly reasonable too...although in looking I came across a flight to NY for £299 as was tempted just to go back 😂

origamiunicorn · 06/07/2019 10:58

That's interesting @drsausage any reasons? 🙂

MissConductUS · 06/07/2019 14:02

@origamiunicorn - I'm so pleased you're fond of New York, it is an amazing place. We really have a mix of accents here. Most of us have a mid Atlantic accent which is fairly neutral. The really strong NY accent has it's origins in the Dutch that was spoken here when the city was New Amsterdam.

Washington and Boston are often compared since they are of similar size and both very rich culturally. Boston is a university town and was one of the early English colonies. It's much more diverse ethnically than Washington and more vibrant. Washington was mostly built after the civil war to house the Federal government. It's always felt one dimensional to me, whereas Boston is a three dimensional, living city full of learning and sport and energy.

Must sees in Boston include the Fine Arts museum, the science museum and the aquarium and so much more:

www.thecrazytourist.com/25-best-things-to-do-in-boston-ma/

For dining try little Italy or any of the fabulous seafood places on the harbor.

I've been to Washington twice, had a nice time both times and have no desire to go back. I will never tire of Boston.

drsausage · 06/07/2019 17:48

I live close enough to visit Boston regularly and I still haven't seen all of it. It's lovely to walk around, especially out of season. The museums are great - I'd add the Isabella Stuart Gardner Museum to the ones MissConduct has listed. I love Boston's neighbourhoods - last time I visited I explored the South End for the first time. We stayed in Brookline the time before that. The time before that we did a harbour tour for the first time, which was beautiful. I just find it really beautiful and varied. I'm sure San Fran is also great, but the times I've visited I felt so intimidated by the sheer volume of tourists and panhandlers, and saddened by the vast income differences on obvious display.

MissConductUS · 06/07/2019 18:34

I should certainly have included the Gardner museum. I haven't visited it for 15 years so it's certainly going on the list for the next visit. She amassed an amazing collection of art and it's such a lovely old house. It's also a two minute walk from the Fine Arts Museum.

The Children's Museum is another must if you have kids. I also enjoyed the Tea Party Museum and ships, and you can have tea there too.

drsausage, do you live in New England?
