How did you meet your DP?

I just love hearing people's stories! So my question is where did you meet your DP and how did you end up being in a relationship?

Mines quite boring, we met at school, he was the year above and we've now been together around 15 years and had our first baby earlier this year. Not married (for no particular reason) and still very happy - just hope it stays this way!

We met on Tinder. I was about to delete my profile that evening as wasn’t having much luck with it. DP messaged me just before I deleted it and the rest is history (been living together 3 years now and very happy)

My DH was having a party to celebrate his 30th in his flat. He didn't want to annoy neighbours, so came down to invite me. I'd seen him around but never spoken and didn't realise he lived above me. I was in the scruffiest outfit ever, but we got talking and ended up going out for a drink.

I'd only recently moved in and hardly had any funiture, so if he came down for a meal, he'd bring a coffee table downstairs with him!

At work Blush he was one of the senior directors and I had just joined as a grad.
Together 4 years, married for 1 year in 10 days and due our first baby in January.
There's quite an age gap and we are very different people but we both idolise the bones of each other.

Tinder but we tell everyone we met in the bar where we had our first date Wink. I mean, it’s technically true because that’s where we first met each other in person. I was late and text him to let him know but he was absolutely convinced I was going to stand him up so was quite relieved when I turned up! He was sitting on the roof top in mid January so it was freezing but we had it all to ourselves which was nice, the bar was also dead because everyone was skint post Christmas.

Buyitinbamboo · 01/07/2019 11:28

Technically met in the pub but I was dating his friend of a friend and he was dating my friend of a friend and we happened to live in the same block of flats so knew of each other. Took us 6 months to get together as obviously we were dating other people. It wasn't exactly love at first sight but I did fancy him and there was just something that intrigued me.

Together 6 years now with baby no2 on the way.

I had a summer holiday job where he worked.

Met on Tinder... I was only on there that evening because I was stuck in a nearby town for the saturday evening after being stood up by a guy from PoF. I was so hurt that I had decided to delete all my OLD accounts once I got home, but couldn't go home witht the kids being babysat. I lived outside of his distance parameters, so he'd never have seen me at home, but he'd seen me on there a few times when I'd been in the towns nearer to where he lived and always ignored me because I had short hair. That day he decided to sod that and messaged me anyway with "are you real?" because so many people had never replied when he messaged and he was about to give up that night too if I hadn't replied. There were so many occasions he could've messaged sooner if not for the prejudice of short hair lol. And he said if I hadn't kept disappearing (because of his distance parameters) he would've messaged sooner.

We talked all evening, planned a date for monday morning, still talked all day sunday, had a four hour date on the monday, another four hours on the tuesday (including first kiss!) and another four hours on Thursday- so crammed in months of dating for most people in those first four days!

Over a year later we're still pretty besotted, buying a house and our kids adore each other.

At work. I was 'warned' about him, took no notice and we've been together 37 years and married extremely happily and successfully for 33.

School. Went out for a couple of years 16- 18, split up for a couple then got back together. Just celebrated our ruby wedding anniversary.

Rememberallball · 01/07/2019 15:32

Met DH through PoF 5 years ago; finishing each others sentences by end of first date; within 2 weeks of first date we’d discussed what we call the important things and how we felt about them (marriage, children and moving in together).

6 weeks after meeting he changed jobs and couldn’t get to work from where he was living so moved into my flat with me (though I was doing a live in job and was only there Friday am to Monday am every other week).

Got engaged 2 1/2 months after that.

Been married 4 years this autumn and currently 26+4 with twins.

I was queuing for the Last Night of the Proms - I slept out in the queue from the Thursday to the Saturday. I went to the Prom concert on the Thursday night with some people I met in the queue and went to the pub afterwards.

Dh joined the group of us at the pub - he had a season ticket for the Proms that year, and the people who had taken me to the pub were his friends.

We had sleeping spots next to each other, outside door 9 and 10, and sat up talking that night and the Friday night, then on the Saturday he took me out for breakfast, and took me back to his flat for a shower, then we stood together in the front row of the Last Night.

My sister was going out with his brother.
Married for 14 years (in 3 weeks)
Sis and BIL married 14 years (this week)

Parsley65 · 01/07/2019 16:57

We met in Hong Kong.

We were both backpacking/working and both living in the same hostel, but different floors. We had a few months together then went our separate ways, but kept in touch.

Three years later he touched down in England, came to stay and we've been together since then. That was nearly 30 years ago...
