I never thought I'd be the person who goes on holiday to the same place every year

But every year it comes to booking and look at loads of options and then think that it might not be as lovely as the place we usually go.

If you'd have asked me in my 20s I'd have been very disappointed in my 30-something-self.

Looking for holidays is such hard work! When you've found somewhere that fits the bill what's point in keeping looking? I love Crete and have been there for my last 3 June holidays.

wildcherries · 29/06/2019 21:39

I will forever return to Iceland. Magic.

nsldriver · 29/06/2019 21:39

We do a short break at the same holiday cottage each year but then go somewhere different each year in summer, best of both worlds.

Mummyoflittledragon · 29/06/2019 21:41

We are the same. Would never have dreamed of doing this pre kids.

TheHodgeoftheHedge · 29/06/2019 21:41

Lake Garda is one of my favourite places in the world. I don’t blame you at all!

Trumpton · 29/06/2019 21:43

I went to Menorca in 2013 and felt at home straight away .
Now done my fourth visit and still love it .

DryHeave · 29/06/2019 21:44

“We loved it so much DH bought the villa.” Snort.

Prestia · 29/06/2019 21:45

I am giving away no clues Grin It's just so family friendly and lovely.

We go to the same place in North Devon every time we go that say. I first went there for a family holiday in 1985. We still love it every time.

But it's alternate years only - other years we go to new places.

JMAngel1 · 29/06/2019 21:59

Prestia, is it a camp with initials BI? If so, I wholeheartedly agree - it's brilliant.

Fireinthegrate · 29/06/2019 22:00

We’ve had a villa at or near Coral Bay, Cyprus 4 times over the last 1 years. It’s now an easy and relaxing holiday because we know where everything will is.

Also, because of visiting family we go to Scotland twice a year to the same town but still really enjoy sightseeing there even though it’s been 25 years

Fireinthegrate · 29/06/2019 22:00

10 years

LegionOfDoom · 29/06/2019 22:00

Shockers

Where do you to to to ski? I’m looking for a ski resort that is nice but not too pricey

MrsHardbroom · 29/06/2019 22:02

I'm now 'that person' too. Thing is, it feels like home when you get there so instantly relaxing. Just can't bear the thought of missing a year.

Hecateh · 29/06/2019 22:04

I always said I wouldn't but I do it now

I go on holiday alone, and I feel so safe there. I know my way around and it is very cheap (the way I do it)

Hisaronu/Olu Deniz in Turkey.

As well as feeling much safer wandering around there at night, I am totally comfortable going into bars and restaurants on my own. I get my glasses there (photochromic varifocals) and the amount I save on buying them at home pays for the holiday. I go in cheap hotels at 5 to 8 pound a night bed and breakfast. And though I only go once a year the hairdresser and optician know me by name. - And the barmen know me as redwine Grin

Doriana · 29/06/2019 22:05

Yes been to Ibiza for the last six summers. I do go to other places too but Ibiza is my first choice always.

TheBigBallOfOil · 29/06/2019 22:05

We have been to the dordogne every summer for the last five years.
This year we are going to Catalonia. Via the dordogne

Lycanthropology · 29/06/2019 22:10

Tend to go most years to the Lake District, there’s something about that stark bumpy look to the mountains there that sort of agrees with my soul. I love it so much.
Also we are lucky enough to have use of an apartment in Mallorca whenever we want, so we grab a cheap flight and go and chill. Have been loads of times over the past 30 years.
I really should see more of the world.

GuiltyPleasure · 29/06/2019 22:12

I was also that person that never went to the same place twice & travelled extensively with my oldest 2 DCs. Then we had our youngest DS who has significant additional needs & we found a place in Ibiza where we're now going back to on our 7th visit this summer. Familiarity is everything for DS. They know us & the second we get there it's like our second home. The wanderlust in me still hopes to travel more. So many places still to tick off my bucket list!

Shockers · 29/06/2019 22:15

@LegionOfDoom- Puy St-Vincent in the French Alps. It’s not at all flash and we self cater, but I love the cross country trails and the others enjoy the pistes. There’s loads of wildlife on the trails I go on. Nice river walk in the valley too. Booking accommodation can be something of a lottery, so if you’re interested, let me know and I’ll guide you!

Lilac3 · 29/06/2019 22:19

We go to Lake Garda every second year or so, and have done for the past 10 years, when we first discovered it.

It ticks every box for us.

We've stayed in Riva, Torbole, Bella Italia in Peschiera.
We travel all around, literally to every town; Malcesine, Limone, Sirmione, Lazise etc. And we've done Day trips to Venice, Milan, verona, etc.
It's just so beautiful there.

I couldn't go every year though. We do like to see and do new things.

fraxion · 29/06/2019 22:20

I will forever return to Iceland. Magic.

We generally like to go somewhere different every holiday but have been to Iceland three times and hopefully will again soon. New Year's Eve there is a sight to behold.

Loveislandaddict · 29/06/2019 22:21

Do you think - we are going to Annecy this year. Any tips or suggestions?

BotBotticelli · 29/06/2019 22:21

Yes found the most lovely small family-centric hotel in Puerto Pollensa, Mallorca. Has slides in the pool for kids. A 10 minute walk to the nice part of the old town/pine walk. Every room is a 1 bed apartment so you can put the kids in the living room to sleep and not have to share a bedroom!

Small kitchenette. Great air con. Extremely clean. Lovely breakfast. Awesome restaurants and the most beautiful sandy beach within 5 mins walk. Waterpark for the kids 15 mins drive away. Bike hire onsite for sport DH to hire a road bike and ride into the mountains whilst I sit round the pool with kids drinking Aperol spritz.

Going back there in 7 weeks and can not wait.

Hoposa VillaConcha in case anyone wants to look it up. Packages via Jet2 or you can book it on Booking.com and buy Sleazy flights/hire a car.

BrienneofTarthILoveYou · 29/06/2019 22:22

I'm another who loves Lake Garda & have been 4 years in a row although this year we're going somewhere else but no doubt I'll miss LG!
