What have you splurged on that has been worth every penny?

Recently bought a MacAir which is a thing of beauty and wonder. Am also gradually replacing cheap crockery with lovely Denby stuff.

I now buy good quality bras instead of M&S and more 'high end' makeup.

So I'm not talking houses, cars, horses etc. What have you bought/upgraded that you love so much more than the cheaper version and has been good value?

@Hadenough4

Sorry, didn’t think to say how much! It was £1600, but you can pay it off over a year
You can do s 3 month free trial you pay £50 per month but when you return it (you won’t) you get that money back or when you buy. It (you will) it comes off the amount owed (they had to do that because people weren’t returning them & they were losing money)

I knew it would be expensive as my friend hit one the previous year, but she has a much bigger house, so I thought mine would be cheaper, but it’s not how it works

There are cheaper ones but I looked into it a lot when I bought it and the Harvey’s one really does seem to be the best (it has the most if the compound in it that removes the limescale.

It’s honestly been worth every penny

IF IT DIED TOMORROW (they’d fix it

  • but if for some reason they couldn’t) I’d buy another one. Limescale free is a life changer for me!

If you have any other questions, just ask!
(I should get a job with them!)

Oh the fitting was easy too well it was easy watching their guy do it! (Ha ha)

Two major purchases recently (with a little help from my lovely dad as an early birthday present) which have literally changed my life, have been a motor mover for my little touring caravan (wasn’t using it much as I needed help to hoik it off and on the drive) and a new mobility scooter which is 20kg, does 15 miles on a charge, folds up in seconds and can manage grass, hills etc. I can get it in and out the car on my own, don’t have to crawl around on the floor putting it back together and means I can walk my dog over the fields, pitch my caravan somewhere other than right next to the toilet block and, today, go round Alton Towers with my son, which I’ve not been able to manage for a couple of years.

I never thought at age 40 I’d be so over the moon about a bloody mobility scooter, but it’s fantastic and has improved my life no end.

Victoria secret’s underwear, It’s the only underwear I have.

Nat6999 · 06/07/2019 02:18

My car, I'm disabled & get my car through the motability scheme, I've always had nil deposit models before but this time I've gone for the top of the range because the extras help me to feel more comfortable when I drive & less shattered when I arrive.

My Ugg boots, I have arthritis in my feet & Raynauds, I wear my boots from October to May every year, they are so comfortable & keep my feet warm & dry.

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 06/07/2019 06:30

That's lovely, Jobless. Both of those must be transforming for you.

Annoyingly, I've turned out to be allergic to the metal trimmings on one of my 'good quality bras' - in fairness to M&S, one of their bras has never actually hurt me!

M&S loo paper ( in the yellow packaging ).
Haven't found anything softer Smile

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 07/07/2019 18:28

Lol And now I feel I need to try M&S loo roll!

nustBeingJoblesz I’m
Thrilled for you, well obviously not that you need those things. It the fact that given you do, they’re making your QoL so much better. I hope you and your dog have a fabulous summer!

I got talking to a woman st the supermarketbthe other day, she had this nifty too box on her car with an automatic arm that lifted, folders and stored her wheelchair in it for her. She said it was expensive (about £4000) but that it’s a price worth paying for her independence - which is SO true j

My dyson animal cordless I love it.
And a lovely bin with two compartments for rubbish and for recycling think it's simple human I love that too.

ineedtostopbeingsolazy · 08/07/2019 00:09

Also laser hair removal, Botox and travel especially swim up rooms!

autumnleaves15 · 08/07/2019 08:35

I love this thread!

Our mattress is a super king and cost £1400 and the pillows £60 each. We don't regret it at all as the quality of sleep is worth it.

Solid furniture as well. We want it to last rather than having to replace flat pack.

Recently got a Dyson cordless and love it. My mum ended up getting one too after seeing mine. I ended up looking at the Dyson hairdryer and fans the other day. Are they worth it?

Sage bean to cup coffee machine. Makes beautiful coffee and saves money in the long run by not buying coffee out unless we're meeting friends somewhere.

I stopped buying cheap shoes a few years ago and try to buy genuine leather winter boots etc and they definitely last longer.

I also have Botox and fillers done. I go to a place which costs a bit more than others but the guy who does it is a genius so it's worth the money when I compare him to the previous place I went.

Wishlist:

Dyson hairdryer
Dyson fan
Down filled winter coat

fedup21 · 08/07/2019 12:37

They are just so expensive!!

NameWithChange · 08/07/2019 19:57

I have 2 Dyson fans, one is a few years old. The other is the new pure one. I love them. I got them for the bladeless advantage for kids rooms. I absolutely love them. They look cool too. The pure one makes my bedroom feel lovely and fresh on hot nights.

NameWithChange · 08/07/2019 19:58

I also just bought some White Company bedding in the same thanks to this thread!!! 😆

NameWithChange · 08/07/2019 19:58

*sale

bodgersmash · 08/07/2019 21:22

Botox. My forehead was so badly wrinkled, make up used to sit in the creases and now I look my age instead of older and haggard.

A Labrador (not so much the initial outlay but he costs a fortune in dog walker's bills). So worth it though, he's amazing. Gets me out of the house when I don't feel like it at weekends, and is always delighted to see me. Joyous every morning just to be alive and it's infectious.

Karndean flooring. Again, not worth the stress of trying to keep carpets clean with a dog.

I'm planing on also getting a Dyson Air Wrap next week when I get some money back from a work saving scheme.

I think I'm the only person on this thread who doesn't love their cordless Dyson though. Mine is about 6 years old.

Shazafied · 08/07/2019 21:23

NARS multi stick !

Weathergirl1 · 09/07/2019 05:58

We have two Dyson fans - hot/cold from quite a while ago, and a large purifier one we've had a couple of years that we have on in the bedroom at night in the summer - definitely helps with hayfever & quiet enough to sleep through.

Definitely, definitely worth it, especially if you want quiet air flow. You can still hear them but it's more of an airflow whooshing sound than a whirring sound you get with a normal fan/heater.

Dangerfloof · 09/07/2019 12:43

I got bedding from bedeck thanks to whoever recommended. Its bloody swanky 600thread count. Way way better than the usual Asda stuff. And damned expensive even on sale.
