Who is your favourite celebrity chef?

Mine is nigella!Grin

I just love everything about her and her food. Her recipes always turn out perfect for me and I love how in depth her books are and the little descriptions with each recipe.

Jamie also has a half go success rate here, kids love everything I’ve ever made by him, but the long lists of ingredients can make feeding a large family very expensive l, and I don’t mind spending a fair bit on food!

Tom kerridge recipes are nice but I can’t watch him on tv, his wet mouth and chunky thighs make me feel Envy.

Who’s recipes never fail for you and who do you love watching?

OP posts:
FraggleRocking · 28/06/2019 20:39

Nigella! Her recipes are the only ones I feel I can absolutely trust plus she understands simple, quick cooking.

Bluntness100 · 28/06/2019 20:41

Gordon Ramsey, and Marcus what's his name.

Only because I would 😜

HUZZAH212 · 28/06/2019 20:42

Hugh Fearnley Wittingstall - I'd love to spend a day hanging out at River Cottage HQ

I love watching Rick Stein on his travels, something so calming about those shows.

MeanMrMustardSeed · 28/06/2019 20:43

Can’t believe there has only been one mention for Hugh F-W! I love that guy and would also love to hang out at River Cottage forever!

howwudufeel · 28/06/2019 20:47

I have a few favourites. Delia, Hairy Bikers (diet book) Madhur Jaffrey. I am not so keen on Nigel Slater and Nigella as I find them a bit annoying. Who has a liquorish box?

Winenotttea · 28/06/2019 20:48

I like them all! I have so many celebrity chef cookery books it’s a borderline addiction!

Simon Hopkinson did one series on BBC1 a few years ago and his book is great. His kitchen diner living room is what my perfect kitchen would be. I also really like Mary Berry.

Winenotttea · 28/06/2019 20:51

I also adore Marcus Wareing (those eyes) and Raymond Blanc (that accent) lol. MRJ isn’t too bad either 😂

ThursdayLastWeek · 28/06/2019 20:53

Oh goodness, how did I forget the Hairy Bikers?
I want to go to the pub with them!
And their recipes are usually good although often too many ingredients for me to bother with often

HoneysuckIejasmine · 28/06/2019 20:53

I think you've been very rude about Tom Kerridge in your op, OP. Completely unnecessary.

I like the Hairy Bikers, Jack Monroe, and Ree Drummond.

tellmewhenthespaceshiplandscoz · 28/06/2019 20:53

Marcus makes me come over all peculiar ... I love his slightly naughty smile.

But love Nigellas recipes and her books are a joy.

melissasummerfield · 28/06/2019 20:54

How can anyone dislike Tom Kerridge, I love him!

Also John Torode, the programme he is doing with Lisa Faulkner at the moment is great.

Jamie Olivers books are always good too, not fussed about his programmes though Grin

bodgeitandscarper · 28/06/2019 20:55

Delia, the Hairy Bikers and Nigella here.

howwudufeel · 28/06/2019 20:55

I have never heard of Ree Drummond/

PickAChew · 28/06/2019 20:56

For their recipes, Jamie Oliver and the Hairy Bikers. Working my way through the hairy Bikers' curry book and their asian adventure and their recipes are top notch. We're all a bit addicted to the marinade for Korean Sticky Barbecue Pork, but used on chicken thighs.

Winenotttea · 28/06/2019 20:57

Tom Kerridge seems sooo lovely, as does Paul Ainsworth.

MaidofKent78 · 28/06/2019 20:58

So pleased to see Simon Hopkinson get a mention. I have one of his books and it's full of lovely recipes.

Otherwise HFW and Nigella have never let me down with a recipe that wasn't delicious.

EskewedBeef · 28/06/2019 20:59

I don't like watching Tom Kerridge either. He's always visibly salivating and seems generally moist.

Winenotttea · 28/06/2019 21:03

The Simon Hopkinson book that I have is The Good Cook, it’s a really great book. The Prawn Cocktail Years is on my list to buy for hubby this Christmas, we love a retro dinner party!

Winenotttea · 28/06/2019 21:03

I agree that the comments about Tom Kerridge are rude and unnecessary ☹️

Peitho · 28/06/2019 21:07

I really liked Simon Hopkinson's BBC series. It was full of recipes for classic but unfancy things like roast chicken and rice pudding. But it all looked so mouth watering.

GeorgiaGirl52 · 28/06/2019 21:07

Gordon Ramsay - as long as he isn't angry about something.

ConfusedandContrary · 28/06/2019 21:16

I haven't been able to stand Tom Kerridge since this www.independent.co.uk/voices/comment/the-delicious-irony-of-chefs-who-can-t-stand-the-heat-of-kitchen-criticism-8301200.html

Winenotttea · 28/06/2019 21:16

Sorry, I’m talking about books now rather than chefs but if anyone is or knows a VERY competent cook then 3 books that I can recommend as presents are:
Gordon Ramsay - Three
Thomas Keller - The French Laundry
Raymond Blanc - Le Manoir

I reckon that every recipe in each book takes about a week to cook 😂 but the books themselves are things of beauty and no I’ve not attempted any recipe in any of them!

SinkGirl · 28/06/2019 21:24

Angela Hartnett
Theo Randall
Michel Roux Jr.

Went to Le Gavroche recently for private dining and he came in for a chat a few times - he was absolutely lovely.
