Small holiday budget

Suenahmi · 28/06/2019 09:33

I am hoping for some advice on where/when to book a holiday. Long boring story of why, but the key details are:

Budget 1500-1700
Family of 4
All have passports
Can only get away for 7 nights 24-31 August.

We were looking for a cheap deal abroad, bit i can't find anything in budget. Is it likely that prices will drop or rise as we get closer to the dates?
I have seen uk caravan parks, for umder £800 but cannot work out an estimated budget for spending money. Would £700 for meals & entertainment be enough in the uk?

Any advice would be great, I'm stressing far too much about this.

Have you tried looking at your options in Bulgaria? I found it the cheapest option after turkey/Tunisia last year. We paid £1700 AI for family of 6 end of August last year for 9 days.

Thank you i will try Bulgaria. Had not considered there.

I would look at places like Pefkos (Rhodes). Tui normally have some of their small and friendly places quite cheap. would recommend the Lindia Thallassa or the Evie apartments.

Go on sky scanner and use your local airports as from destination, for the to destination select ‘everywhere’.
You should find some cheap flights for places you may not have ever imagined going to.
Then use trip advisor good places to stay / holiday in that area. Then search booking.com and air b & b for places to stay. I’ve had some amazing holiday experiences for much less than that at that time of year

GivemeGinandTonic · 28/06/2019 09:49

Or if you’re using a site like jet2.com for package, first look at what their flight only prices are like on your dates - sometimes the flights are vastly cheaper flying a Monday rather than a Saturday for example. Use that info to select departure date when you go back on the holiday section of their site, and you should then see the difference in the package holiday cost

Honestly, I think you'll struggle with that budget.
The prices won't change much unless you can get a very last minute unsold holiday that's heavily discounted.
£700 would only be enough if you cooked most of your own meals I think.

If you want to stay in the UK, you can get lovely cottages for considerably less than £800.
£700 would leave me with MASSES of change / cash left over. But, like all things, it depends how you live. Some people will go to a Wetherspoons whereas others would only go for a Michelin starred restaurant. Some happy to take a picnic to the beach, others want to pay in to a theme park.

nicecuppaforme · 28/06/2019 10:07

Yes to a cottage actually.

Try norfolk coastal holiday breaks.

Isthebigwomanhere · 28/06/2019 10:13

Have a look at OnThe Beach op.
I've just seen Malta for a family of four in your dates for £1200

babysharkah · 28/06/2019 10:19

I think you'll struggle on that budget tbh.

We were very pleasantly surprised by woolacombe bay holiday park.

You'd need to be prepared to have some s/c meals though. £25 ppn for three meals a day won't go far otherwise and you want some 'fun' money left over.

Suenahmi · 28/06/2019 10:48

@Isthebigwomanhere do you remember where that was flying from? Am rely struggling to find anything within budget.

Rhodes, Turkey perhaps Spain - there's a few ultra cheap packages. I personally recommend Rhodes if you like a bit of history too.

hsegfiugseskufh · 28/06/2019 11:21

where do you need to fly from?

hsegfiugseskufh · 28/06/2019 11:23

does it have to be all inclusive?

Littlebean13 · 28/06/2019 11:25

Onthebeach is a good site for cheap package holidays I would highly recommend looking on there Op.
You can set it to any destination so it will come up with the cheapest places for your dates and if you find a holiday it tells you if it's cheaper to fly from another airport or if theres a cheaper option hotel wise

Littlebean13 · 28/06/2019 11:27

Oh and loveholidays is another similar site for cheap hols

Untamedtoad · 28/06/2019 11:29

Where are you flying from? We're flying from the southwest and have a holiday for 4, 7 nights in July to South of France, cost just over £1k, and holiday for 4 to Spain in August for 4, flights and hotel again, just over £1k. You're budget sounds fine, there's loads of deals on loveholidays.com

Untamedtoad · 28/06/2019 11:40

That last one is even including breakfast and under £1200 for all of you x

Untamedtoad · 28/06/2019 11:41

Love holidays has 100s of holidays well within your budget for your dates. Italy, Spain, Greece, Turkey. Tons of hotels with availability x

LesLavandes · 28/06/2019 11:59

Hi. I think Turkey is probably a good place to check out. It always comes in cheaper for me with better facilities

Ffsnosexallowed · 28/06/2019 13:03

Where would you be flying from?

Branleuse · 28/06/2019 13:08
