I remember when Iceberg lettuce was exotic
When you had to load up a computer game using a tape recorder
When hitchhikers were common

Thank you for the Green Sheild explanation trackingmedown. I'm not entirely sure we ever managed to get anything! The books were always in the car, and I remember if we were good we got to lick the stamps to put in the books!!!!! Can you imagine that being a treat nowadays?!

Maps, road atlases and the London A to Z!

My Dad did quite a lot of driving for his job & liked to get a new road atlas every year & they're all still stacked up at their home! My mum used to barf if she had to map read, so I'd have to do it from the back seat of the car. I was really good at it. Utterly useless skill nowadays of course!

I used to love sticking the stamps in the books too. And when mum had one of those really big catalogues in the house I was in seventh heaven I loved looking at them so much. She stopped getting them in the end as they were always on at her to order more stuff (the companies not the catalogues).

I remember Energen starch reduced rolls. They did taste vaguely bready but were the texture of polystyrene.

SerenDippitty, my mum ate Energen search reduced rolls to try to lose weight.
My brother and I thought they were made of brown paper.
