Ok, so I've been over eating, drinking too much wine, not exercising and not looking after myself in general for a few months now. Been struggling a bit for a few reasons.
I feel over weight, tired and am always behind on everything, and not the best parent to my two boys when I'm not healthy/organised. So! Today, I will start by going for a power walk after school drop off.

I'm joining a ladies football team tonight.

I will do a healthy shop. I will keep alcohol to one night at the weekend. I will get back to myself. Anyone with me, or any tips or support??

I'll join you starting tomorrow, I desperately need to lose 2 stone by the end of September hence the username Grin

theneverendinglaundry · 26/06/2019 12:54

Well done OP.

I really need to do the same. I drink too much wine, and eat too many treats. Not only is it making me put weight on, but its costing too much money!

So I'm going to drink only on a Friday and Saturday night. Cheap bottle of wine shared between me and DH. Bit how oh how do I stop eating biscuits and crisps and cakes? I feel like I need a "treat" once the kids are in bed and I sit down and relax. I think I just have to break the pattern.

And how does anyone fit in exercise? I don't think I can start that until littlest is at nursery.....

CurbsideProphet · 26/06/2019 13:50

We don't buy sharing bags of crisps, or packets of biscuits, as neither of us had any willpower. If it's not in the house we can't eat it Grin

Sunseed · 26/06/2019 14:06

I'm going to stop buying crisps altogether - not least because eldest DC keeps snaffling them which is doing him no good either.

We have a popcorn machine which is great but I haven't yet worked out how to add crisp-like flavours to it. Any ideas??

theneverendinglaundry · 26/06/2019 14:18

God yes I have ZERO willpower. For example, I'll buy a pack of kit kats thinking "they'll do the week" and I end up eating them all in 2 days. Didn't pick anything up today and instead made a cake with my toddler! Not really healthy but it was more fun and we will all share it!

LikeSilentRaindrops · 26/06/2019 14:18

Ooh can I join? I did one of these a couple of months ago and managed to lose 5 pounds - but then the thread kind of died and I slid again!

I’m breastfeeding a 5 month old atm and realised last night my intake had been as follows:

2 x leftover Waitrose cupcakes
1 handful of sweet and salty popcorn
1 small bag of magic stars
2 homemade fajitas

Blush time for some accountability!

caperplips · 26/06/2019 14:21

I think I had a small victory last yesterday. But could DEF do better. I had some chips at lunchtime. I did NOT have wine last night, but I did have a cup of tea and 4 bourbon biscuits so need to work on that...

I am focusing on not drinking wine & eating crisps / nuts / cheese etc in the evenings. Aiming for healthier meals all round and then cutting out the sweet crap.

Even though I did not do 100 well yesterday I am feeling mentally more on for the challenge. I WANT to be able to wear all my nice clothes again...

RunningKatie · 26/06/2019 15:55

Today I powered through my healthy lunch whilst the rest of the office had some very yummy smelling but not in line with my plan. I'm also attempting the Fast800 plan.

The weather is so rubbish it's not motivating me to exercise at all. I always feel it more when the sun shines. Anyone know when we can expect summer?!

GMtoBe · 26/06/2019 19:02

DH is out tonight and DD has been a nightmare all day so I almost bought chocolate as a treat for when she's asleep earlier but stayed strong and bought a punnet of strawberries instead! Have managed not to snack again today which is good.

I agree about the weather, rain just removes all of my motivation to exercise. Its meant to be good here for the next 5 days from tomorrow so am hoping to get out for a run when DH is back from work.

sureitsgrand · 26/06/2019 21:51

Hi everyone, well it's really sunny here today, so I've stuck pretty well to healthy eating, fruit for snacks and attended my first yoga class in a year tonight! Delighted with myself. Feel better mentally already for doing something the last two evenings instead of lying on the couch quaffing wine and crisps! Hope everyone else doing well. I'm going for a walk in the morning with a friend too.

I'm doing a 52lb in 52 week challenge as I don't want to be fat for my 40th, best June.

However I've booked our first family holiday in 6 years so I now want to be at target about 5 weeks earlier (so 52lb in 46 weeks lol)

3 weeks in and -8lb but I know:

  • its a lifestyle change
  • its a marathon not a sprint
  • its something I will have to really persevere with
  • there are no cheats or quick fixes.
sureitsgrand · 27/06/2019 07:05

So I weighed myself this morning, and I'm heavier than I thought. I really need to do this. I think the point about it being a marathon not a sprint is right too. I'm used to quick fixes but they aren't working any more! It's a lovely day again, so out for my walk, then spending my morning sorting the playroom for the summer.

Sunseed · 27/06/2019 07:13

It's a lovely sunny morning here too. I'm going to make sure that I drink more water today as I definitely haven't been drinking enough over recent months and I know it will help me feel more energetic.

theneverendinglaundry · 27/06/2019 12:57

I think I might download myfitnesspal and monitor everything I put in my gob for a few weeks. It can be an eye opener.

I know I need to do more exercise. I walk around 15,000 steps a day but I'm never really getting my heart rate up. Got no idea how I can fit it in though.

CurbsideProphet · 27/06/2019 15:51

I have the headspace app and used the 30 day mindful eating meditation. That was about thinking about why you're going to eat something - bored / low / reward etc. Really eye-opening for me. I'm definitely an emotional snacker.

If anyone is trying to fit in exercise I signed up (and followed!) the Betty Rocker 30 day make fat cry challenge. 1 free 15 minute video every day. I'm going to sign up again with a different email address as that helped me stay focused on not eating rubbish after a bad day / because I'm tired etc.

Honeyroar · 27/06/2019 15:57

It's my 50th today. I've had a week of being taken out for meals, parties, cake and champagne. It's been wonderful but I am going to need to diet for the next decade to make up for it! Can I join in from Monday?

RunningKatie · 27/06/2019 17:25

I am mentally giving myself a pep talk. We usually nip to the pub for a quick g&t whilst dc are at an activity on a Thursday night, I have had a crappy day but I'm eating so well I am going to stick to it. Lime and soda all the way. We can do this!

EstherLittle · 27/06/2019 18:08

I too saw myself in a shop window and wondered who the fat frumpy wild haired woman was. Sadly it is me with 2 stone to lose.

I have started a couch 2 5k running group this week. I used to run a lot until I broke my foot and just never got back on track due to the pain and have comfort ate/snacked my way to being over weight.

Sunseed · 28/06/2019 10:28

How is everyone today? I didn't get out for a walk yesterday and then all good intentions collapsed last night as I opened a bottle of wine. If I'd not done that I wouldn't have then got stuck into the crisps too.... But I am not going to buy any more which should help next time. Won't drink tonight or tomorrow as will have long drives to do and probably go straight to bed each night instead of staying up drinking.

RavenLG · 28/06/2019 11:05

I join these threads every so often but I never progress. I'm hoping I can actually stick to it. I've just ordered a swimming costume to start swimming. I have huge issues with my weight. I'm a size 22 and 5foot so I'm massive and I have no idea how I'm going to face the public in a bathing suit but I need to start exercising before I have a heart attack and thought swimming would be the most gentle option. DP is coming with me so hopefully he will keep my anxiety under control. I'm taking the weekend to look at a meal plan and shop to start fresh on Monday. Fingers crossed I get somewhere this time.

SwishSwishSheesh · 28/06/2019 11:28

Today is the day I started on meal replacement shakes. I am 5.6 and size almost 14 Sad

I started working out at home three weeks ago but apparently weight loss is 70% diet and 30% exercise. I can't be arsed thinking about what's good and what's not so shakes it is. Had my first one about an hour ago and can say it was very filling. Normally by now i'd be counting down minutes till lunch but i'm actually really full. Fingers crossed they'll work!

sureitsgrand · 28/06/2019 16:52

Hi everyone. All good here apart from two beers last night. Out and about walking, eating healthy. I have an unavoidable night out tomorrow but I'm all about the damage limitation so I will get an extra walk in, stick to g&t (it a very obvious alcohol is my downfall, which I hate to admit. We own a pub, so it sort of comes with the territory)

RunningKatie · 30/06/2019 16:37

This weekend has not been ideal for food, I tried hard but a football tournament for 5 hours finished me off. I was only spectating but needed gin and profiteroles afterwards!
Back on it properly tomorrow Confused

Sunseed · 01/07/2019 08:24

Ok, Monday morning and 1st of month, we've got this!

Swish how are you finding the meal replacement shakes?
